Donald Raymond Parker

Donald Raymond Parker, September 17, 1951 -

VP candidate for Independent (1988)

Running mate with nominee: David Richard Wobser (b. 1952)
Popular vote: 59 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

David R. Wobser, a realtor, bookstore owner, and assistant manager at Sandusky Computer Center in Sandusky, Ohio waged a certified write-in campaign for President in his home state. His running-mate was Donald R. Parker, a friend he originally met during childhood at Trinity Lutheran Church. Parker lived in nearby Castalia, Ohio.

Concerning his effort, Wobser told the press, "The mountain was there. I'm not climbing to the top of it, but I've gotten to the foothills." He said he thought George H.W. Bush was better prepared than Gov. Dukakis for the Presidency.

The media failed to really provide the platform of this independent ticket.

The Wobser/Parker team earned 59 write-in votes in Ohio. If they had been elected they would have encountered the Constitutional problem of being residents in the same state.
