Tom Lineaweaver, a former Republican who ran as an Independent write-in candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2014, was back on the campaign trail within a few months but this time he was aiming for the White House. Running under the banner of his Freedom USA Party, his running-mate was William Tint of South Carolina.

We need your help. For William Tint and I to be successful, we need all the help we can get. And the biggest reason for getting us elected is, if we don't, this Country is doomed. In reading the political tea leaves, I can see the Republican Party is pushing Jeb Bush, and the Democrat Party is pushing Hilary Clinton. We don't need another Bush to carry on the family's treacherous and evil ways. I urge you the check out Prescott Bush, and even his father.

The Country is weary of the Bushes. Therefore, Hilary Clinton will be the next President. That is unless the third party movement, the Independents, and all the Constitutionalists get behind the Lineaweaver - Tint team.

Why us and not someone else? Let's say, Ron Paul? If he remains a Republican, he doesn't have a chance. Then there's the age factor. He is already 79. He'll be 81 in 2016. That doesn't necessarily bother me, but what about the rest of the American people?

William Tint and I basically has the very same message as Ron Paul. Getting back to the Constitution politically and economically. We have a non-interventional Foreign Policy. We have a plan to fix the economy and increase jobs by the millions. Of course, we'd have to get the plan through Congress. So, while you are at it, you need to support and elect Constitutional candidates for Congress.

I feel very strong about this. I keep looking for a better alternative, and there is none that I could find. William Tint and I are the best chance we have to save America. But, if we do not unite, America is doomed. The only solution at that point would be an armed rebellion, and William Tint and I would like to prevent that. Millions of Americans will die in an armed struggle with the evil, despotic, tyrannical, Government that we have now. Or haven't you noticed, police departments all over the Country are becoming militaristic. But we can prevent that by electing pro-Constitution candidates for every office in the Country.

If we don't do this folks, you will lose your money, your freedom and possibly your lives. If we don't change the direction of this Country soon, it's going to crash.
Time for a change. Time to get back to the Constitution.

THEN, NOW, THE FUTURE AND WHY

Back in 2010, I explored the possibility of running for President in 2012. That went nowhere. I had rather much given up the idea of running for anything. Then it happened.

What could be called the defining time of my political career. I was listening to the Bob Durgin show on WHP-AM 580. It was in the summer of 2011. I had rather much given up of me ever running for anything. But, on this particular show, someone called and introduced the topic of an 8 year old girl, in I think York County, Pennsylvania, her lemonade stand was shut down. I don't remember why. I do remember how it made me feel. In fact, I probably said out loud, "They've gone too far." I decided I had to do something, although running for office was not the something. What I did was call Mauree Gingrich's office. She was my State Representative at the time. I called State Senator Mike Folmer's office, who has been a friend for about 25 years at the time. And, I called the Governor's office. It was Governor Corbett's first year in office. I voiced my concerns, about how this Pennsylvania, the birthplace of Liberty. About the Declaration of Independence, etc. So, I reminded them of our founding, and asked how we got so far away from that to make it illegal for an 8 year old to have a lemonade stand on her parent's land.

Well, my concerns fell on deaf ears. These people just didn't seem to care. I got to thinking what else can I do. I decided that the best thing to happen is if we had a Constitutional Governor. For the remainder of 2011, and for much of 2012, I searched for someone that would be a Constitutional Governor. The only one I could find that seemed to be interested in challenging Corbett was Bruce Castor. I now know there were others. But, the media didn't acknowledge them at all. So, all I did hear about was Bruce Castor. So, I checked into Bruce Castor, and determined he was just another politician.

Finally, in the beginning of 2013, I decided, if I want something done, I better do it myself. I decided I was going to try to win the Republican nomination for Governor. I opened a page on Facebook for that purpose. And I opened a forum at Son of David Forums. Between the two, I was trying to gain support. I did get a little, but not near enough. I sent e-mails to media outlets. And I got very little coverage. I did get some coverage on the internet from the Green Page, I think it was called. And there were other internet pages. I got a nice write up in a Pittsburgh Newspaper, and I have been told I got a nice write up in a Northeastern Pennsylvania Newspaper. But, I got no volunteers to help me circulate nominating petitions. Then I began running a write-in campaign for the Republican nomination. But, that went nowhere as well. I do believe, if I was able to get on the ballot, I could have defeated Corbett, then as a Republican, I could have defeated Wolf. But, that obviously was not to be.

After the Primaries, I left the Republican Party, and registered Independent, and began a write in campaign. This time instead of a page, I opened a group on Facebook. The Page was converted to "People for Constitutional Government." This all happened from February 2014 to the Primaries.

Obviously, I didn't win the Governorship. But, I did gain some National attention, to the point, in October of 2014, I received a phone call from a man in Louisiana. We had a nice talk about the Constitution. He talked about all the groups he was part of. Then he made the offer. If I were to run for President, those groups he talked about would support me. Woe! How can anyone say "no" to an offer like that? I told him I would think about it. In our next conversation, I told him I would run if he was my campaign manager. But, it didn't quite work out that way. However I was given a gift I could possibly build on. And I did.

After a while, I thought, in political realities, it is best to have a Party structure to get anywhere. I considered other parties. But, I was just not comfortable. I needed a Party I felt comfortable in. That's when I started Freedom USA Party. It is designed to unite the best parts of all the parties, but specifically to promote Constitutional Governance. We simply must get back to the Constitution if we are to salvage the United States of America.

I chose a running mate by the name of William Tint. But, let me tell you. Neither he nor I are perfect. But, both of us want the Country to get back to the Constitution. Both of us care about the people of America who are struggling greatly. And both of us understand that it is the Federal Government that is causing the American people to struggle. Obamacare is a great example of what makes American struggle. And that is much of where we are today.

Now to the why. Why should I be the next President? It's because I care. When you look at the actions of the Federal Government in the most recent decades, can you honestly say there is anyone in Washington D.C. that care about the people of this Country?

Did Ronald Reagan care about the people of this Country when he chose George HW Bush as a Vice President? Then George HW Bush became President. Did he care about the American people when he signed the American Disabilities Act, which has done more harm than good? And do you remember what happened at Ruby Ridge, ID? The Government murdered American citizens, and practically with impunity. George HW Bush should have gone to jail for the rest of his life, because he's a murderer. Along came Bill Clinton. Did he care about the American people when he signed a law that forced the banks and financial institutions to make loans to people that probably could not pay them back? Did George W. Bush care about the American people when he signed the Patriot Act? That is one of the most unconstitutional laws ever passed by Congress. And now they are using it to spy on anyone they feel threatened by. Did Barack Obama care about the American people when he signed the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare? I don't have to tell you the harm that has done and will do. Unless you had your head in the sand, you should know.

There is no one in Washington DC that cares about the American people. William Tint and I do care about the American people.

Of course, our campaign is not official as of yet. We need a few things before that happens. A campaign manager that understands Federal Election laws, which, by the way, are unconstitutional. There is no such thing as a Federal Election. All elections are State elections. But, we have to deal with reality. Then when in office, we can make a difference.

At this point we are doing our best to gain support, and really, we are in an exploratory mode. If this campaign comes together where we unite in our cause. Where can get on the ballot in all 50 States, I really believe we have a chance.

If you want the change we speak of, then please come on board and help us get there.

Time for a change. Time to get back to the Constitution.

Later in March 2015 the ticket experienced a split. Tint bailed from Lineaweaver's team and switched to Robert Doggart's Presidential campaign. The announcement was made by Tint on Blog Talk Radio / Patriot Nation as he and the host also discussed conspiracy theories regarding a potential civil war and a military exercise known as Jade Helm 15. There is no more doubt. The Doggart - Tint team materialized. It was announced on Blog Talk Radio / Patriot Nation.
Personally, I believe this has been in the works for a while. And, I believe it has to do with my view on Israel. I know Bob Doggart disagrees with me about Israel. William Tint has encouraged me not to be public with what I believed about Israel. But, I did not hide it. Why should I? Everything I said about Israel is true. In 1967 Israel attacked the USS Liberty, and killed 34 U.S. Sailors. For a long time that was covered up. On March 16, 2003, Rachel Corrie was murdered by Israelis. There weapon was a bulldozer. Rachel was unarmed. She was working for peace. She was peacefully protesting Israelis destroying the homes of Palestinians whether there was anyone at home or not. Israel killing Palestinians, and some were Christians. In 2009, there was a Baptist church in Gaza having New Year's Eve services. Israeli forces bombed a nearby building and in the process destroyed the church killing the Pastor an many attendees. I personally don't believe that was by accident.
Lately there has been news reports that Israel, along with the United States and other Countries has been supporting ISIS. Iran stopped the shipment or arms from Israel to ISIS.
Tell me why we are supporting this murderous Government. And, based on my conversations with Bob Doggart, he is a big supporter of Israel.

Robert Doggart of Tennessee had become a cause célèbre among those in the far Right conspiracy community. He had run for Congress as an Independent in 2014. Doggart had a Ph.D. from LaSalle University in engineering management and had been a federal employee with the TVA. He was also a minister with the Christian National Church (Congregational).

Doggart had been planning a terrorist attack on Islamberg, a Muslim communal settlement in the area of Hancock, N.Y. His Facebook included a post: "Our small group will soon be faced with the fight of our lives. We will offer those lives as collateral to prove our commitment to our God. We shall be Warriors who will inflict horrible numbers of casualties upon the enemies of our Nation and World Peace."

The Presidential campaign of Doggart/Tint appeared to have ceased at the time of Doggart's Apr. 10, 2015 arrest.

When Tint joined the Doggart ticket, they both had already been wiretapped by the Feds who were tipped off by informants and undercover agents. Lineaweaver's conversations with Doggart were also picked up. Some of Doggart's taped comments were played in court--

If there’s a gun fight, well there’s a gun fight. And I want to come home ’cause I love my family and I want to see my kids again. But I also understand that if it’s necessary to die then that’s a good way to die.

When we meet in this state, the people we seek will know who we are. We will be cruel to them. And we will burn down their buildings (and) if anyone attempts to, uh, harm us in any way, our stand gunner will take them down from 350 yards away ... The standoff gunner would be me.

[Islamberg] is vulnerable from many approaches and must be utterly destroyed in order to get the attention of the American people.

Those guys (ought or have) to be killed. Their buildings need to be burnt down. If we can get in there and do that not losing a man, even the better.

We’re gonna be carrying an M4 with 500 rounds of ammunition, light armor piercing. A pistol with three extra magazines, and a machete. And if it gets down to the machete, we will cut them to shreds.

I actually think we can get in and out of there without getting caught. There’s only four policemen in town. The fire department is a volunteer department, so it’ll take them 35 minutes to get there while that building will be burned down already. And we’ll be long gone by then.

I’ve got this battalion that I command and they want to go up to uh a place and take action. There is all these people all over the country that what to start what we call a flash point. … so sick and tired of this crap that the government is pulling that we go take a small military installation or we go burn down a Muslim church or something like that.

I don’t want to have to kill children, but there’s always collateral damage.

I wish somebody would kill Obama. Just do it and get it over with.

The Times Free Press reported Tint "offered to provide 50 men from South Carolina and another 150 from New York, and said he had experience in demolitions, and agreed the men should meet."

Tint was questioned on Apr. 13, 2015 and on the following Sept. entered a plea of guilty to the charge that he "did knowingly and willfully make a false, fraudulent, and fictitious material statement to FBI agents during their investigation." In June 2016 Tint was sentenced to three years probation, apparently as part of a plea bargain.

On May 27, 2015 Tint made a remark on Facebook indicating he was running for President--

Over the past few months I have withdrawn my quest for the constitutional ticket for the seat of President of the United States however I have decided whith several other people to continue to run and I will be bringing with me several members running for Congress and Senate it is my intention to restore the Constitution and free the American people.

In Aug. 2015 Tint began to show enthusiastic support for the campaign of Ed Baker, an Independent from Oregon who embraced a large number of conspiracy theories such as "No One Died at Sandy Hook," geoengineering, and later, Pizzagate.

On Election Day 2016 Tint posted--

next election I will be running and I won't have them push me out again.its time for real American people to be in control of the country. constitutionalist!!!!!

Meanwhile Lineaweaver, who apparently never settled on a running-mate after Tint, dropped out of the race in the fall of 2016 and endorsed Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party. He began his 2020 campaign for President shortly after the 2016 election.

Doggart is currently in prison serving a long sentence.

The campaign:

Robert Morrow's strange political journey began as a liberal Democrat supporting Dukakis in 1988 and somehow morphed into his becoming a conspiracy theorist Republican who co-authored a book with Nixon loyalist Roger Stone entitled The Clintons' War on Women (2015). When Morrow was elected as the Chair of the Travis County, Tex. Republican Party, based in Austin, there was an intra-party revolt. He served for a few months in 2016, at which point he ran for President as an Independent write-in. His running-mate was a fellow he called his "handyman," Todd Sanders.

Morrow was a self-styled expert on the JFK assassination, placing the blame on LBJ and other government figures. He also seemed obsessed with the sex lives of political figures, notably the Clintons, Rick Perry, George H.W. Bush, and Donald Trump. In a humorous way, Morrow was very much like the last named gentleman in terms of promoting spurious facts and unfounded conspiracies. Both men also were infamous for disrespecting women in blatant ways and they used the negative campaigning tactic of dehumanizing all who failed to see the issues from their perspective. And since Morrow's publicity gimmick was wearing his three-corner jester hat, that sort of compares to Trump's overdone orange cosmetics, oddball hairstyle, and clownishly oversize necktie. From the viewpoint of an outsider in some ways it is difficult to see why the Travis County Republicans would reject the former person but embrace the latter-- a point Morrow himself would make in 2016.

Morrow's social media was riddled with pornographic language and visuals, and that might have been what turned the dial to 11 where Trump was still at 10.

Early in the campaign season Morrow endorsed Ted Cruz, "Ted Cruz and Ben Carson over Donald Trump. Donald Trump has actually said that a lone nut Oswald killed JFK, which tells me he is too stupid to be president." However, in early May 2016 Trump alleged, without evidence or detail as he usually did with his many conspiracy theories, that Sen. Cruz's father was somehow implicated in assisting Lee Oswald in Nov. 1963.

Part of Morrow's electioneering included showing up at public events wearing his jester hat and holding a huge sign that read, TRUMP is a CHILD RAPIST. Morrow explained, "Donald Trump's psychopathy has been on full display on the national political stage for over a year ... I want folks to know that Trump is a child rapist and that he is currently being sued in a civil action in NY federal courts for raping, slapping [a] 13 year old girl at a Jeffrey Epstein party in 1994."

The Morrow/Sanders ticket were registered as write-ins in Texas only. If they had won the national election the fact they were residents of the same state had the potential to be problematic per the Constitution. Morrow ran again in 2020 as a write-in with Anne Beckett as his VP.

The campaign:

Donald Trump's takeover of the Republican Party in 2016 while basically transforming it into his own personality cult was the basis for the exodus of longtime establishment members of that organization. Stalwart Republicans (many of them Neocons) and influential conservatives such as President Bush I and II and son/sibling Jeb and Marvin, Carly Fiorina, Lindsay Graham, John Kasich, George Pataki, William Bennett, Bill Brock, Bill Cohen, Robert Gates, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Tom Ridge, William Ruckelshaus, Brent Scowcroft, George Schultz, Christine Todd Whitman, Paul Wolfowitz, Larry Hogan, Brian Sandoval, Rick Snyder, Jon Huntsman, William Milliken, Marc Racicot, Mitt Romney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, over a dozen sitting Republican US Senators, over 30 Republican members of the House, Slade Gorton, Barry Goldwater Jr., J.C. Watts, Bill Kristol, Sam Reed, Chris Vance, Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, Glenn Beck, Meghan McCain, Michael Medved, Tom Nichols, P.J. O'Rourke, Jennifer Rubin, George Will, and Meg Whitman (just to name a few) all refused to endorse their Party's nominee. A few of them left the Party entirely while others such as Sen. Graham did an about-face and became loyal Trump collaborators after Jan. 2017.

Some of them, such as President Bush I, Powell, and both Whitmans endorsed/voted for Hillary Clinton. Others endorsed Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party or Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party. But the most unusual and spontaneous of the Never Trumpers was Evan McMullin who had gained the endorsement/vote of US Senators Lindsay Graham [!!!], Jeff Flake and Mike Lee, also Slade Gorton, Bill Kristol, Sam Reed, and Meghan McCain among others.

McMullin was a former CIA operations officer and staff member for the House Republican Conference. He announced his run late in the game, Aug. 10, 2016 and scrambled to gain ballot access in as many states as he could. He was printed on the ballot in 11 states and was a registered write-in in 24 more, giving him a far-fetched potential of 310 Electoral College votes. McMullin filed with the FEC as an Independent on Aug. 15, 2016.

Some of his statements during the campaign indicate he saw himself as the only true conservative Republican in the race. McMullin certainly was no fan of Hillary Clinton, who he called "corrupt," but Trump received the most criticism--

--"And I stand for limited government and for individual liberty, and I saw in this election that the choices that the two major party candidates offered, as well as other candidates in the race, weren't sufficient or weren't adequate for our country and for the American people. So a couple of months ago, I decided seeing that no one else would get into the race to offer the American people a better choice, I decided to get in and try to do just that."

--"Well, I think Donald Trump is just not trustworthy whatsoever. I mean, he has spent his entire life being in favor of late-term abortions and opposed to the Second Amendment and has even spoken in favor of single-payer healthcare, even in this election. He's defended Planned Parenthood, even in this election. And Donald Trump is not someone who can be trusted. This is a man who does not stand for anything other than himself."

--"The notion that he would appoint Supreme Court justices who are constitutional conservatives, I think, is a real stretch to put it mildly. He's also said his sister would make a great justice. And she is certainly not a constitutional conservative. She's quite liberal, in fact. He's just not somebody who has any credibility on these issues. He is a big government-type of person, just like Hillary Clinton. And I am, I believe, truly the only conservative in this race."

--"I know dictators and authoritarians when I see them, and Donald Trump is one of them. I will do everything in my power to prevent him from becoming president of the United States."

--"Donald Trump appeals to the worst fears of Americans at a time we need unity, not division. Republicans are deeply divided by a man who is perilously close to gaining the most powerful position in the world, and many rightly see him as a real threat to our Republic."

--"I am unknown because I've avoided the limelight so that I could serve. In the case of Donald Trump, he has avoided service so that he could seek the limelight.

--"Trump has never sacrificed anything for this country, and in fact, he has attacked people who have. It just makes me sick to my stomach when I see him attacking the mother of a fallen hero or John McCain. It just makes me sick to my stomach that this guy thinks he's prepared to be commander-in-chief."

--"I think Utahns - and I won't speak for all Utahns - but my sense is that they have real issues with Donald Trump's lack of decency, with his bigotry, the way he's divided this country. That's not the Utahn way. I think they have issues with his attacks on religious minorities."

--"The idea that Donald Trump is a conservative is a complete farce. He is a conman who pretends to be a conservative."

Although Mindy Finn was McMullin's official running-mate, it was the "placeholder" name of Nathan Daniel Johnson that appeared on printed ballots in every case. The media made a deal out of the fact the McMullin/Finn ticket consisted of a Mormon from Utah (McMullin) a Jewish woman from DC.

Finn had been a rising young star in the Establishment Republican Party, but something of an anomaly as a center-Right feminist. Her views of Trump echoed McMullin--

--"First of all, we believe strongly that what makes American special and America strong is our commitment to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. The liberty component is really critical there. We have someone in Donald Trump who has tried to limit free speech. He has talked of admiring murderous dictators and tyrants. That’s one major area we’re different. Also rhetorically. We believe that everybody is equal and valuable in this country. We welcome immigrants, we celebrate that we are a country of immigrants and a melting pot, and we think three’s no place in the political arena for racism, sexism and bigotry."

--"I think Trump, in addition to his policies that I think are dangerous for the country at large, it has been clear throughout Trump’s campaign that he views women as lesser than. He’s objectified them throughout his life and continued to do so in his campaign, and seems to be very threatened by smart, successful, powerful women, and that is anathema to who we are as Americans. The view I take is that while I’m proud to live in a free and prosperous country, I do believe American is a special land and should be a beacon to the world. And part of that leadership is that women are equal under the law and I do have concerns in how Trump talks about and treats women. I think it’s very clear in his rhetoric that he sees them as second class citizens."

--"Donald Trump is unique. He speaks and acts and stands for things that most Republicans didn't prior to the cycle," Finn says. "But, by many of those leaders getting on board with Donald Trump, failing to repudiate him, failing to make a full-throated argument against racism, sexism and religious bigotry, they've allowed Donald Trump to mainstream views that are not conservative for any kind of conservatism that I was part of, and are certainly dangerous for the country."

Although the McMullin/Finn ticket did not officially garner any printed ballot votes, the McMullin/Johnson team placed 5th nationally, finishing in third place in Idaho and Utah, two Mormon strongholds. In Utah, McMullin finished with a whopping 21.54% and in Idaho with 6.73%. The campaign (2016):

David Limbaugh (not to be confused with the conservative polemicist with the same name who is the brother of the late political entertainer Rush Limbaugh) provided his autobiography on the 2016 webpage of his Presidential campaign--

"I was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. We moved to Smyrna, Tennessee my sophomore year of high school. I went into the Army National Guard after high school, becoming an Avionics Radar Repair Operator (35-R).  When I turned 20 in 1980, I was hired by a small computer company, M&S Computing. By 1982, I was sent to the Netherlands with my wife and young, army-paid-for, son. We had a daughter while we lived for 2 and one half years in Holland. We returned to the United States and I remained in the CAD/CAM industry until 1992, when I began working in the printing/reprographics industry for the next 17 years. I have been involved in Customer Support and Engineering for 30 years. It landed me in the IRGA Hall of Fame. Being President is Customer Support on a grand scale but as someone who was on call 24/7/365 for 30 years I look forward to doing that.  Father of three great kids and grandfather to ten beautiful grand kids."

Limbaugh, who in 2016 was a high school teacher in the subject of U.S. Government and U.S. History, filed state by state as a write-in. Normally a Republican, he decided to run after Kasich and Cruz dropped out of the race, "Trump's not a Republican. Trump's just an idiot wanting to be president. And I don't want an idiot to be my president ... Basically, I just wanted to let people know there's another answer out there. I'm just trying to educate people."

Limbaugh's platform included--

"After we get elected, we plan to do the following: Propose the 28th Amendment - Abolish the Electoral College. We are in the 21st Century.  YOUR Vote should count! If you live in a RED state your vote counts no more than if you live in a BLUE state.  With our current system, a handful of states determine YOUR President. ​​Someone agrees with me on this, Richard Dawkins: Electoral College Is Viciously, Unnecessarily Undemocratic."

"Eliminate the Federal Department of Education - The United States Constitution does not give the Federal Government the power to run public education. Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment covered Civil Rights and Integration, but not LOCAL commitment to Education."

Limbaugh had two running-mates. Bo Gingrich of Alabama was the name registered as VP in most of their states, and David Looper was the VP in Montana, perhaps others. Early in the election year the Limbaugh/Gingrich ticket was touted, but as the season progressed the publicity had a focus on Limbaugh/Looper so I'm not sure what the deal was with that. The Limbaugh/Gingrich ticket was considerably more moderate than if the team had been made up of the most more famous gentlemen known by those surnames.

If the Limbaugh/Looper ticket had emerged victorious on Election Day there would have been a potential problem with the Constitution since both candidates were residents of the same state.

The campaign (2020):

Limbaugh made a second run for the White House in 2020, with Looper as his VP. Looper provided a brief autobiography on the 2020 site--

Four years ago, I was motivated by the fact I have known since the 1980s that Donald Trump is a lying conman with no ethics or moral fiber and I could never [vote] for Hillary Clinton.

I first voted for president in 1980. I voted for Ronald Reagan.

I have voted for the GOP candidate every 4 years since then until 2016.

I had no problem voting for George HW Bush.

I loved voting for Bob Dole.

I didn’t really want to vote for W Bush because of Karl Rove’s inter workings but I didn’t see Al Gore or John Kerry being substantially better.

I LOVED voting for one of my heroes, John McCain, but I cringed when Sarah Palin was announced as the VP choice.

I had no problem voting for Romney, and I wish he was the option in 2020.

In 2016, I was motivated by wanting to illustrate the problems with the Electoral College, that my voted in the Red State of Tennessee does not count.

I was also motivated by the thought of making Mom happy. She loved to brag to her kinfolks and friends how she was voting for her son for president.

I was motivated to run again in 2020. I bought the buttons. I have the car magnets. I got the paperwork. I drove to Jackson, Memphis and Chattanooga to see old friends and a new one for my required 11 electors. Friends took my petition and was garnering signatures.

When COVID first hit a good friend and his wife came down with it. Thank Goodness they recovered! I was about to head east, to get the rest of my electors, when two more friends were diagnosed with the virus.

The thought hit me. I would hate to go to Knoxville or Sparta or Cookeville or Science Hill to see an old friend and on the way catch the virus at a gas station getting a Diet Coke.

We ended up with about 200 of the 275 signatures required. We had the 11 electors needed but I never made that trip east to get their signatures.

Kanye West’s ‘campaign’ was another deciding factor for me. His GOP-ran sham campaign to try to siphon votes in Milwaukee, Detroit and Philadelphia convinced me we have to make sure Joe Biden gets every vote possible, including all of my great friends I have been blessed to make over the years.

I have decided to go all-in for Joe Biden. I know he has no chance of winning Red State Tennessee or Alabama. I also know that does not matter. WE have to make sure Biden wins Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

We have to make sure Lindsey Graham loses in South Carolina, Mitch McConnell loses in Kentucky and Susan Collins loses in Maine.

I want my old GOP (When it was the Grand Ole Party) back, not this one of Nativist Bigotry, Racism and QANON idiocy.

WE have to be the difference in 2020!

The campaign:

A perennial candidate since the 1980s, Michael S. Levinson's campaigns usually used the Republican primaries as a vehicle for expressing the candidate's views on issues of the day. Once the primaries were over, he was generally done for the election season. But it appears that starting with the 2008 election Levinson was moving to the Independent route, although Levinson would also call himself an Independent Republican at times.

In late October, 1972 Mary Levinson of Buffalo, NY announced she was running for President as an independent write-in. Actually she was serving as a stand-in for her son, Michael, who at age 30 was too young to be elected President. Michael had, according to the press, "definite views on ending the Vietnam war and cutting rents everywhere." The campaign's motto was "You stand on your own two feet." Mary Levinson selected James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, to be her running mate.

Michael did campaign on his own at a later date and through time became known as a perennial candidate. His decision to wear odd headgear during debates and panel discussions did draw some attention, but viewers were distracted by his form which overshadowed the content. Levinson's campaign literature was delivered in his interpretation of the English language, using wordplay and puns which, like the hats, made the voter have to work in order to discover his platform.

Mary Levinson died in 1995 but she contributed to her son's campaign webpage as if she was still alive as evidenced by Michael's 2008 online marketing--

I told my son I want him to get Ralph Nader involved because Ralph would be a great Attorney General. That guy Alberto Gonzalaz. . . He needs a lawyer. What does Bush call him? Fredo? That loser from The Godfather trilogy. Don't you get it? That is why Bush chose him. Poor Fredo from the movie. He was a great character actor. As mentioned above, like his mother, Levinson chose a celebrity as his running-mate. Most major party candidates traditionally do not name a running-mate before the convention. Possibly they do not want to appear presumptuous or they would like to create some sense of suspense to gain attention at the conventions, which are normally mind-numbingly long political advertisements. But Levinson, running as a Republican in several elections, not only named Muhammad Ali as his Vice-Presidential choice, he produced a poster heralding the ticket in 1988.

In Levinson's 1996, 2000 and 2004 runs Ali remained his first choice for the second spot. He did have backup choices, as he explained during the 2000 election, "I like Liddy Dole. With her no nonsense style, she could easily fit in my cabinet, to take down an agency or two; and Bob for sure in my kitchen cabinet. Bob Dole was my 2nd choice for V.P., in '96, after Muhammed Ali. This time, after Ali, my 2nd choice is Jesse Ventura for Vice President."

In 2008 he hung on to the idea of having Ali as his VP but this time Levinson was going all the way to the general election.

Having grown up in the era when Ali was at his peak not only as a boxer but also as a symbol of personal/human rights protest it is difficult for me to visualize The Greatest accepting second place in anything. A champion for so many on so many different levels, Ali the private citizen was more influential than most public officials.

Ali's politics could be a bit unpredictable, much like the man himself. He campaigned for Jimmy Carter in 1980. In 1984 he supported Jesse Jackson in the primaries but endorsed Reagan's re-election later in the year because, "He's keeping God in schools and that's enough."

Ali had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease the same year he endorsed Jackson, and then Reagan. In subsequent years he had been engaged in philanthropic pursuits and international goodwill missions. In 1990 he met with Saddam Hussein and negotiated the release of American hostages much to the consternation of the George H.W. Bush administration. By the 2008 election Ali's health had declined dramatically but he was still an active and beloved public figure. Needless to say, I could not find a public response from Ali about being Levinson's running-mate.

Levinson had managed to become a certified write-in in Washington and perhaps a few other states, but did not seem to obtain a measurable number of votes on Election Day 2008.

On Nov. 29, 1998, reporter Robert Gavin disclosed, "Roger Jewell of Phoenix, Ariz., also was a candidate in 1996. This time he's apparently hoping a well-known running mate will put him over the top. In addition to his own committee, he formed the 'Draft Michael Jackson (King of Pop) for VP 2000 Committee,' according to FEC records."

From what I can gather, Jewell has run for President in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2016. Although he has initially filed as a Republican or Libertarian on occasion it seems he usually settles into an independent status by Election Day.

Not sure what his connection was with the Light Party or the National Disability Party. The 1996 assassination attempt is a story yet to be uncovered.

In a 2014 too-much-personal-information interview, Jewell expressed admiration for Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, coming across as something of a centrist conservative peppered with a few social libertarian policies.

Jewell's choice of Michael Jackson as a running-mate, was, I assume, news to Mr. Jackson if in fact he knew about it. The Jewell-created PAC called Draft Michael Jackson (King of Pop) For VP 2000 Committee could possibly have attracted Jackson's attention. In 2000 Jackson was living in New York City and working on his 10th solo album, Invincible.

I could not locate any states where Jewell was a certified write-in candidate in 2000.

The campaign (2008):

Although Jewell had run for President in 2004 there is not a lot data about that campaign. But in 2008 he once again indicated Jackson would be a fine running-mate as Jewell formed a PAC called Draft Michael Jackson King of Pop For VP 2008 Campaign Committee. Demonstrating a possible inner conflict, Jewell also formed the PAC known as Roger Jewell Draft Michael Jackson King of Pop President Campaign Committee 2008.

For his part, Jackson was preparing for a new concert tour. Back in California, Century 21 had not been kind the King of Pop. He lost his contract with Sony, was taken to court as a result of various child sexual abuse allegations, and he was on the edge of financial ruin. Also his health was rapidly declining. If the Jewell/Jackson ticket had emerged victorious in 2008, the Vice-President would have died only six months after taking office if Fate kept the same timetable.

Jewell did not run for President in 2012, instead acting as the Executive Director of the Draft Sarah Palin for President Committee. But in 2016 he made another run for the White House.

The campaign:

Mrs. Foggybottom was the stage persona of Joan Cushing, a 2nd grade teacher in Landover Hills, Md. by day, but by night she transformed into Mrs. Foggybottom, a singing comedian who played in the Washington DC metro entertainment spots to audiences eager to enjoy someone lampooning the political situation of the era. She also had a newspaper column.

Mrs. Foggybottom was described by the Washington Post as "a glove-wearing, martini-sipping, cigarette holder-gripping, wisecracking society dame." The earliest newspaper reference I found mentioning Mrs. Foggybottom was in 1983, but Cushing's steady gig lasted from 1986-1995. However, to this day Mrs. Foggybottom still makes special appearances.

In Feb. 1988 Cushing filed with the FEC as "Mrs. Foggybottom" and announced her fictitious character was running for President under the banner of the Cocktail Party.

I know secondary school students read this blog, so I'll leave out some of her racier comments. Here are some quotes and platform issues from the Mrs. Foggybottom campaign:

"I believe that what this country needs after eight years of Ronald Reagan is a four-year happy hour."

She promised that after her term in office all Americans would know how to spell "hors d'oeuvres" in the correct way.

"Whenever I hear the word Dukakis I want to conjugate it."

She advocated "designated drivers who cannot drink. Designated drinkers who cannot drive. And a designated President who will not drive us to drink in the first place."

Promised appointments: Sec. of Defense, Oliver North; Sec. of State, Ross Perot; Sec. of Agriculture, Jessica Lange; Sec. of Entertainment, David Letterman; Head of the EPA, Fawn Hall ("an experienced paper shredder"); White House Chief of Staff, "Elizabeth Taylor Hilton Wilding Todd Fisher Burton Burton Warner almost Luna almost Stein almost Hamilton and possibly Forbes."

In 1988 George H.W. Bush had already served 8 years as Vice-President. In April, 1988 before Bush was nominated for the Presidency, Mrs. Foggybottom suggested he could be her running-mate, "He's very highly qualified. You know he won't interfere in my affairs and he's got extensive experience going to funerals."

George H.W. Bush came across as a very gracious man with a sense of noblesse oblige and demonstrated an ability to laugh at himself more than most Presidents. One likes to think that perhaps he even laughed at Mrs. Foggybottom's VP suggestion. But Mrs. Foggybottom could also be erratic. Right before the election she said "Jack Daniels" was her running-mate, but did not elaborate if she meant the man or the drink.
