William Ashley Gray IV

William Ashley Gray IV, April 28, 1970 (San Diego County, Calif.) -

VP candidate for Independent (2008)

Running mate with nominee: Erik Migdail (b. 1965)
Popular vote: ? (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Erik Migdail and Ashley Gray, two high school teachers in South San Francisco, created the Migdail/Gray 08 Presidential ticket in 2006 as a civics lesson for their students.

Gray, who taught the subject of American government, would frequently lead a slogan with his student. He would say "Voting is--" and they finished the sentence with, "Cool!"

"These are young people who are going to be the leaders of tomorrow, and I find it exciting," Gray was quoted by the media. The idea was to have the students participate in creating a platform.

The campaign did get as far as having a bumper sticker produced, but the team apparently never made it to any ballots. In the event of their victory the fact they were residents of the same state would have posed a Constitutional problem.

Election history: none.

Other occupations: finance, teacher, musician

Notes:
Gray was the 2007 San Mateo County Teacher of the Year.
