The Socialist Workers Party nominated Alyson Kennedy for President for a second time. Her running-mate for 2020 was Malcolm Jarrett, who had been a SWP candidate for Pittsburgh City Council the year before.

Malcolm Jarrett

Malcolm Jarrett, Socialist Workers Party candidate for vice president, 49, works as a cook at a catering company in Pittsburgh. He was attracted to working-class struggle as an African American youth in eastern Missouri, as his family joined in the defense of the Black community in Cairo, Illinois, from assaults by cops and vigilantes. In these struggles, he gained a real appreciation of the support from farmers in the area. Jarrett was also influenced by the popular revolutionary movement that overthrew the apartheid regime in South Africa.

He joined the SWP while organizing protests at Southeast Missouri State University to oppose Washington’s war against Iraq in 1991. Today he stands in solidarity with protests by workers and youth against wars promoted by both Washington and Tehran in Iran and Iraq.

Jarrett has built solidarity with union battles, including the wave of strikes and protests by teachers and school workers in 2018, traveling to join actions in their support in West Virginia, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

During last year’s strike by United Auto Workers members at GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler, Jarrett joined picket lines in Indiana, Texas and Minnesota. On a national speaking tour last fall he and Alyson Kennedy brought solidarity to coal miners fighting to get back pay stolen from them by coal bosses at the Blackjewel mine in Kentucky. The two met Uber and Lyft taxi drivers in Atlanta to discuss the exploitation they face and the need to fight for one union for all app-based, limousine and yellow cab drivers.

Jarrett has participated in fights against cop brutality and murders from the 1997 killing of Jonny Gammage to the actions of thousands of young people who marched in Pittsburgh last spring to protest the acquittal of the cop who murdered Antwon Rose II. He points out that police violence and capitalist “justice” is aimed at intimidating and punishing working people.

On Oct. 27, 2018, when an anti-Semitic killer shot down 11 Jews at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Jarrett joined 3,000 people protesting that night. He explains that Jew-hatred is endemic to capitalism and how the ruling boss class turns to anti-Semitic thug forces in times of deep crisis to divide and crush the working class. Working people have to be educated in what this question is all about.

Jarrett has traveled to Cuba on a number of occasions, including as part of last year’s International May Day Brigade, to offer solidarity with the Cuban peoples’ six-decade-long fight against the U.S. embargo and to be able to speak out more effectively in defense of the socialist revolution. He is now on his way to participate in the 2020 International Havana Book Fair — a major cultural and political event in Cuba, and urges others to join this year’s May Day Brigade.

Jarrett was the SWP candidate for Pittsburgh City Council last year, speaking out at a public hearing attended by 200 residents of Allegheny County against U.S. Steel’s willful pollution in the area and to call for workers control of production. Jarrett says health care in the U.S. is a disaster caused by the for-profit capitalist system. The SWP fights for universal, government-guaranteed cradle-to-grave health care, and retirement income for all.

The 2020 SWP platform was consistent with their past stance on the issues. It was interesting that mention of the COVID-19 virus was absent--

WORKERS CONTROL OF PRODUCTION. Workers need to fight to wrest control of production out of the hands of the bosses. Employers care about profits, not the dangerous conditions we’re forced to work under. This is the only road to take control of and enforce safety and health on the job. Demand the bosses open their books for inspection by workers and consumers. Workers control of production is a school for learning to run the economy ourselves, in the interests of all producers, a crucial step alongside building a labor party to fight to take political power.

FARMERS — WORKERS’ ALLIES ON THE LAND. Fight for immediate government relief to fully cover farmers’ production costs, including living expenses for themselves and their families.

No more foreclosures! Nationalize the land, guaranteeing its use by those who live on and till it, not “repo” seizures by absentee bankers, landowners, or capitalist farmers.

AMNESTY FOR ALL UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS in the US, a life-and-death question for the unions to unite workers and cut across divisions the bosses use to drive down wages. For access to driver’s licenses for all.

OPPOSE WASHINGTON’S WARS. US hands off Iran, Venezuela and Cuba. US troops out of Afghanistan, Korea, the Middle East. End US colonial rule in Puerto Rico.

FOR RECOGNITION OF ISRAEL AND OF A CONTIGUOUS PALESTINIAN STATE. The leaders of Arab states, of Israel and Palestinian leaders need to meet and recognize both the state of Israel and an independent Palestinian state. For the right of Jews to return to Israel as a refuge in the face of capitalist crisis, Jew-hatred and murderous violence.

CUBA’S REVOLUTION — AN EXAMPLE. The Cuban Revolution in 1959 showed it is possible for workers and farmers to transform themselves in struggle, to take political power and uproot capitalist exploitation. End the US rulers’ economic war against Cuba; US out of Guantánamo.

FIGHT POLICE BRUTALITY! Demand that cops who kill and brutalize people be prosecuted. Fight racist discrimination and the entire capitalist injustice system, with its frame-ups, “plea bargains,” onerous bail and “three strike” prison sentences, all of which disproportionately hit workers who are Black. One of America's more enduring third parties, the SWP had dropped to the third tier and was now competing with and in some cases eclipsed by other parties and activists on the Left that had originally splintered or were purged from/by them. Some critics charged the SWP with being a cult sitting on the shelf beyond their expiration date.

The Kennedy/Jarrett ticket finished 12th place nationally, earning roughly only half the number of votes they won in 2016. They were on the ballot in 6 states: Tennessee 0.08%, Washington 0.06%, Vermont 0.05%, Louisiana and Minnesota 0.02% each, and Colorado 0.01%.

Jade Simmons, based in Kingwood, Tex., filed as an Unaffiliated candidate for President with the FEC on Feb. 21, 2020.

Simmons' varied career included being a concert pianist, motivational speaker, author, and Miss Illinois (1999).

Dubbing her campaign "Operation Restoration," Simmons took a centrist leaning Left approach and felt that as an outsider with communication skills she could end the hyper-partisanship that was dominating public discussion of all things political and cultural. She told one reporter, "I feel like what we're watching is the nation, especially culturally, spiritually and racially, being ripped to shreds. So I feel like what we're restoring is our original identity. I look back at the concept of us really being one nation, under God and indivisible."

One press release summarized the platform: "Operation Restoration - The mission of Operation Restoration, the campaign of Jade Simmons, is to 1) to restore the United States of America to its' God-given identity of being a unified nation, that honors God and serves ALL people, 2) to strip away the dysfunctional practices of divisive politics and bring forth a new lane of leadership that prioritizes people over profit, political games, and personal agendas and 3) to give voice to the voiceless and the "muted middle" – those individuals that don't fully agree with the left side or the right side but believe there is a place in the middle where we can honorably meet and find common ground on the issues that matter to our country."

Claudeliah J. Roze was announced as the running-mate on Sept. 20, 2020. However in Florida, perhaps as a stand-in VP, Melissa Nixon was the running-mate. Nixon was something of a professional colleague in the field of motivational speakers, operating out of Charlotte, N.C.

Simmons/Roze finished 11th in the national election, at the top of what I would consider the third tier of third party results, actually outpolling the Socialist Workers Party. They were on the ballot in Oklahoma (0.23%) and Louisiana (0.08%). They were also registered write-ins in over two dozen additional states. In Florida, where they were write-ins, the Simmons/Nixon ticket garnered 181 votes.

The projects are designed to keep people in the projects... My mom grew up in Seattle projects and I know that mouse trap all to well... We will change that and change that paradigm by shifting the economics around a bit so that they are in balance and influx with all other housing community's (rich or poor) ... Demolishing of old project housing buildings and construction of new and better housing throughout all 50 states will take a lot of time and work to accomplish, so that in it self will create jobs and opportunities and a economical boom for families kept in the projects... Transforming projects and lower income housing and integrating those community's into the rest of America will both help the working class - lower / non-income class out from the depths of ghettos and into the abundance that we all together share... Not no one simple solution can be applied to end poverty and homelessness but a multitude of individuals united or all under the help for fellow bothers and sisters will be more than enough to end the confusing conflict of those not prospering in our great nation... I've looked well into the Age Thing... Yes the Constitution says you have to be 35 in order to be president of the untitled states... However... I can still run  for office and will just have limited Ballot access in most states due to my age... as well as many instances were state senates as young as age 24 were honored office after intents scrutiny by the congress & constitution standards... in 1972 a woman aged 31 named Linda Jenness received 83,380 Votes despite her age and limited ballot access...

Despite The fact of the constitutional prerequisite age requirement of 35 for presidential office, I have both the GOD given right and the American Birth Right enabling me to Campaign for the White House even though I'm just only 24 years of age,
It will be legal for both me to run for office and for you to vote for me... as I have stated some states will not be able to to carry me on the ballot due to the current age discrimination, but will be in the majority of the states...
If I do win the elections my fate will be decided by congress and will be handled from that point on forward...

The real problem is you been indoctrinated into a false paradigm comprised of capitalists who make money from you, your labor & your children since the day you were issued your S.S. Number ... So when a much competent young man such as myself steps forward in the elections the reaction is the same... "You must be 35" ... Rudeen released a campaign autobiography in Nov. 2015 entitled Work of my Youth. After his initial burst of energy the campaign seemed to fizzle out by the start of 2016. Generally speaking, Rudeen is correct when he says a candidate does not have to be age 35 or above in order to run for President. His cited example of 1972 Socialist Workers Party nominee Linda Jenness (and her underage running-mate Cleve Andrew Pulley) were indeed on the ballot in 18 states and the District of Columbia. However, the ages of the candidates proved to be a problem in terms of ballot access for Indiana, New York, and Wisconsin. In those three states the SWP ticket consisted of the older Evelyn Reed and Clifton DeBerry.

A Rudeen/Pete tha Nut victory would have encountered a potential additional Constitutional hurdle in the event of their victory since they were both residents of the same state.

The campaign:

Socialist Action was founded in 1983 by a group that had been expelled, or resigned in protest, from the Socialist Workers Party. In turn, SA has seen several splits within their own ranks during their nearly 40 year history. Outside sources have generalized SA as a Trotskyite party.

Although the group had been involved in the election process to some degree at local and state levels, it was not until June 2016 they offered a national ticket. Jeff Mackler, a California retired teacher, union activist, and 2006 SA candidate for the US Senate was nominated for President. His running-mate was Minnesota-based Karen Schraufnagel, founder of Minnesotans Against Islamophobia. Mackler was also the party's National Secretary.

The 2016 SA platform--

1) Abolish the U.S. war machine now!

    Bring all troops home now! Close all U.S. foreign and domestic military bases. End all military spending now – not a penny for war!
    U.S. out of the Middle East!

    Create a massive public works program to provide jobs at top union wages through building homes, converting to 100% renewable power, expanding mass public transportation, constructing hospitals, parks, schools, and other social necessities. Priority should be given to projects where they are most needed—especially in Black and Latino communities.
    Raise all pensions, Social Security benefits, unemployment and disability compensation, welfare, and veterans benefits to top union wage scales and protect them with cost-of-living escalator provisions.
    For $15 and a union now as a first short step on the road to a much higher minimum wage to sustain a quality standard of living.

4) Quality health care, education and housing for all as basic rights!

    Close down the profit-gauging “healthcare” insurance companies and establish a single-payer system in rapid transition to a universal and free national system, that is, socialized medicine.
    Use the savings towards provision of quality health care for all and retraining insurance workers for new jobs.
    Free quality public education at all levels from the cradle to the grave.
    Cancel all student debt.
    Void all drug patents to cut public costs to a minimum.
    Cancel all medical debt.
    End all home foreclosures.
    Establish and expand rent-control to combat the mass-displacement of poor and oppressed communities through gentrification.

6) Immediate amnesty, legalization and equal rights for all immigrants. End the racist, Islamophobic “War on Terror!”

    Close down ICE
    Demilitarize and open the borders.
    No to the surveillance, persecution, demonization and government-orchestrated frame-up trials in Muslim communities in the U.S. and worldwide.

7) Abolish all racist, sexist and homophobic discriminatory laws and practices!

    To assure economic independence for women, government-financed, free 24-hour child-care centers and maternity leave with full pay. Guarantee the right of every mother to raise a healthy child.
    End violence against women and the LGBTQI community.
    Repeal the Hyde Amendment. Free unrestricted abortion on demand.
    Reproductive justice now. End coercive contraception projects targeting low income women and women in prison.  End the criminalization of pregnant women.
    Free Purvi Patel.
    Ban workplace and housing discrimination and adoption restrictions based on sexual orientation or gender identity
    Outlaw discrimination by businesses or employees based on sexual preference or gender identity
    Repeal all local, state and federal discriminatory laws against LGBTQI people.
    Quality safe housing for youth and workers facing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

8) Defend civil liberties! Abolish the “national security” state!

    End all government surveillance. Abolish the National Security Administration and all other secret and repressive government spy agencies.
    Repeal the Patriot Act and all other anti-democratic legislation.
    End all restrictions on the right to organize, assemble, and protest.
    Stop the persecution of all whistle blowers like Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden!

9) For a democratically-planned socialist economy where the banks, basic industries and all natural resources are the collective property of working people – the 99 percent – and democratically operated for human betterment not the individual profits of the one percent

    Tax the rich and their corporations, not working people! End corporate bailouts! [Note:$32 trillion in corporate bailouts was granted to corporate America in the years immediately following the 2008 economic crash. See Project Censored Report. For every dollar paid in taxes by U.S. corporations $27 is granted back in government subsidies. See: 2016 Oxfam Report.]
    Close all tax loopholes for the rich. Nationalize all illegally “offshored” corporate profits.
    For a steeply-graduated progressive income tax!
    100% tax on all incomes over $300,000. Zero percent tax on all incomes under $50,000.
    Low interest, long-term government loans to protect small farmers gouged by banks and food trusts.
    End all military and military-related spending: Use the money saved towards a massive public works program and to fulfill the demands above.

10)  For working class political action independent of and against the twin parties of capitalism

    For a united, democratic and fighting labor movement that champions the economic, social and political interests of all working people.
    For a Labor Party based on a revitalized, democratic, and expanded labor movement allied with the oppressed and exploited.
    Organize the unorganized 90 percent! Repeal Taft Hartley and all other anti-union legislation.
    Open the corporate books for union inspection!

Vote Socialist Action! For a workers government and a fully democratic society of, by and for working people and the oppressed! Abolish capitalism! For socialism!

SA did not place a high priority on the nuts and bolts of traditional campaigning, such as making an effort to attain ballot status or even become a registered write-in. They appeared to be more involved with feet on the ground demonstrations, gathering petitions, panel discussions, and other more grassroots methods of political warfare. Hence, no votes for Mackler/Schraufnagel were officially reported.

Mackler, who also ran in 2020, was cautiously endorsed in both elections by the Freedom Socialist Party. Their Oct. 17, 2016 essay supporting the SA ticket does help the uninitiated identify and differentiate the nuances of progressive parties in that year--

Once again, the U.S. two-party system has left us with two horrible choices.

Playing on people’s fear and resentment over acute social and economic problems, bombastic bigot Donald Trump has positioned himself as an anti-establishment populist. But he is an enemy, not a friend of the people – a braggart about his sexual assaults and an inciter of violence against Muslims, journalists, and whatever group is the current target of his poisonous diatribes. He has made himself the focal point for a dangerous right-wing movement that could end up laying the ground for fascism.

Thus, the pressure to vote for Hillary Clinton as the “anybody but Trump” candidate is tremendous. And Clinton’s bid for the presidency is a historic one, which she promotes largely with claims to be an advocate for women and children. However, her record and her party’s record show that these claims are false, as are her other promises to workers and oppressed people.

While her husband was in office, Clinton supported the destruction of welfare, the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act, and racist crime bills that led to the largest increase in incarceration under any president in history. During the years she served as the only woman on Walmart’s Board of Directors, she did nothing while the company waged war on attempts to unionize its employees, many of them on food stamps. As Secretary of State, she was responsible for much of the suffering internationally caused by U.S. wars, occupations, and trade policies. And these examples barely scratch the surface of her pro-corporate credentials.

As a feminist organization, the Freedom Socialist Party (FSP) abhors the sexism against Clinton, including Trump’s misogynist bullying. But there’s no way we could support her for president. The truth is that the “lesser evil” is a myth and a scam, one that keeps the country’s people trapped in a downward spiral as the Democrats and Republicans both keep moving rightward. The most effective vote in November is a protest vote — and, fortunately, there are socialist candidates running who are well worth supporting.

Cast Your Ballot for Working-Class Champions Who Stand for Real Change

FSP is offering critical support to Socialist Action (SA) write-in candidates Jeff Mackler for president and Karen Schraufnagel for vice president. Their far-reaching platform includes abolishing the U.S. war machine; getting rid of racist, sexist and homophobic laws and practices; providing amnesty and equal rights for all immigrants; and defending labor. However, FSP is critical of such things as SA’s opportunism in the anti-war movement, where it has opposed taking an anti-capitalist stand, and its position on Syria, which underestimates the role of genuine popular revolt there.

SA’s Syria position comes close to that of two groups whose candidates FSP is not recommending, Workers World Party and Party for Socialism and Liberation, which go farther than SA by supporting dictator Assad on the false grounds that he is “anti-imperialist.”

The Socialist Party (SP) and Socialist Workers Party are also fielding candidates, but their programs suffer in comparison to Socialist Action’s — and, in SP’s case, their electoral representatives don’t seem bound to a party platform in any case.

The Bernie Sanders campaign raised important reforms and the earnest hopes of many supporters. At bottom, however, it was never more than a vehicle for the Democratic Party to hold on to progressive voters. Now some Sanders enthusiasts are turning to Jill Stein of the Green Party. But Stein’s solutions — like making “Wall Street, big corporations, and the rich pay their fair share of taxes” — are a pallid answer to a fundamental crisis of the profit system.

The Libertarian Party of Gary Johnson, meanwhile, attracts interest because it purports to stand for individual freedoms, but its basic support is for the capitalist freedom to exploit without fetters of any kind.

It’s Time for an Independent Labor Party

Whoever wins the election, everyday people are in for a continued rough ride, with fights looming against everything from union-busting to environmental despoliation and killings by police.

Our fights should include ending the two-party lockdown of U.S. elections. We need reforms that would give minor parties a chance — changes like eliminating the myriad of restrictive ballot access laws (see Seven steps for ballot access reform) and instituting instant-runoff voting and proportional representation.

These reforms would help to make possible what we need more than ever — the development of a mass anti-capitalist party that truly represents the working class, especially its lowest-paid and most-abused members. An independent labor party based in the unions, but representing both organized and unorganized workers, could fight in the here and now for things like full employment and universal, not-for-profit healthcare. It could also be a huge step toward upending the whole exploitative system that depends on this two-party scam for its survival.

Enough of the trap of “lesser-evil” voting!

The campaign:

A Kennedy/Hart ticket sounds like a dream ticket for liberal Democrats in the 1980s, but in 2016 it meant Alyson Kennedy and Osborne Hart of the Socialist Workers Party.

In his most excellent Ballot Access News website for Feb. 13, 2016 Richard Winger reported and observed,"On February 12, the Socialist Workers Party announced that its 2016 national ticket will be Alyson Kennedy for president, and Osborne Hart for vice-president. This is only the second time that the SWP has nominated a woman for President; the first time was in 1972, when Linda Jenness ran. The Socialist Workers Party has now nominated a presidential candidate for 18 elections in a row. Besides the Democratic and Republican Parties, the only other U.S. political parties that ever did that were the Prohibition and Socialist Labor Parties."

In the course of those 18 elections the SWP had shifted their emphasis from Trotskyism to Castroism and in the process had experienced a number of splits and splinters. By the 2016 election the Party appeared to have stabilized, although others in the Left thought of it as an almost cult-like political entity with rigorous demands on their followers.

The SWP provided a campaign biography of Hart--

Osborne Hart, whose father was a career soldier, spent his youth traveling around the world with his family.

Since getting involved with the civil rights movement in the 1960s, Hart has been a lifelong fighter for Black rights. He’s joined struggles against police brutality and school segregation and the movement to bring down apartheid in South Africa and free Nelson Mandela.

He was politically active in the 1970s in the fight to end Washington’s war against the peoples of Vietnam and Indochina.

Hart joined the Socialist Workers Party in the mid-1970s and for decades has been part of helping to build and strengthen the labor movement. He’s lived in Atlanta, San Francisco, New York, Detroit and now Philadelphia and has worked in industry, including as a meat packer, steelworker, loading trucks in a TJX warehouse and on the railroads. He currently works at Walmart.

He joined actions in defense of United Steelworkers-organized oil refinery workers forced on strike in 2015, demanding workers control over safety to counter bosses’ speed-up drives, job cuts and attacks on unions.

Hart, 63, ran for mayor of Philadelphia in 2015, gaining a wide hearing among working people. He participated in protests against cuts in Medicare, demanding free, government-funded medical care for all; against police brutality and in solidarity with workers fighting concession demands by steel giant ArcelorMittal. He explained the need for independent working-class political action, urging workers to fight for a labor party based on the unions, to challenge the Democrats, Republicans or other capitalist parties.

Over the past five years, Hart has joined in building protests in Philadelphia against the relentless drive by state and city governments to slash funds for public education, with massive layoffs and spiraling class sizes. These moves have been accompanied by assaults on teachers’ and other school workers’ wages, pensions, health care and their unions.

Hart is active in the fight against government attacks and discriminatory laws against undocumented workers, protests against deportations and efforts to organize the unorganized.

He’s spoken out and built meetings in defense of the Cuban Revolution, demanding Washington end its 55-year-long economic embargo of the island and return the territory containing the U.S. naval base at Guantánamo to Cuba. He was part of the international movement that won freedom for the Cuban Five, revolutionaries imprisoned in the U.S. for working to defend their country’s socialist revolution.

He calls for the immediate release of Oscar López, a fighter for Puerto Rican independence framed up and jailed in the U.S. — much of it in solitary confinement — for more than 34 years.

Hart was one of the few third party VP candidates to take his campaign near my neck of the literal woods when he visited Olympia, Wash. Apparently the electioneering efforts up here paid off as The Evergreen State gave the SWP their highest popular vote percentage.

The Kennedy/Hart ticket made the ballot in 7 states: Washington (0.13%), Tennessee (0.11%), Minnesota and New Jersey (0.06% each), Utah (0.05%), Colorado and Louisiana (0.02% each). It was their strongest popular vote result since 1992. One wonders how much of that was due to the temporary migration of Sanders followers who felt disenfranchised.

Claire Elisabeth Elliott of Augusta, Ga. filed with the FEC as an Independent for President on Mar. 24, 2015. It was her second run for the White House as an Independent. She ran in the 2008 election as a resident of Hollywood, Calif. under the name Claire Elisabeth Fields Cruise. She also used the names Claire Boyd, Claire Nelson, Queen Claire Elisabeth (Daughter of King George III & VI, Mother of Prince William & Prince Harry), High Priestess Claire Daishonin (Her Holiness the Dalai Lama).

Elliot's political stance takes some sorting out. Part of her philosophy involves something called "alternate personas." She also contends that she was a CIA sex slave in her past. Her stand on the issues were generally in the progressive arena but those were way overshadowed by her comments on other aspects of her experience--

Elliott first indicated she had selected Sen. Bernie Sanders as her Vice-President in Sept. 2015 after seeing him and shaking his hand at a rally during his own campaign for the Presidency.

Sanders was busy making his bid for the Democratic nomination. After that failed, some supporters registered him as a write-in candidate in a few states, including California where they gave him Tulsi Gabbard as a running-mate.

I could not locate any record of Sanders addressing his VP status with Elliott.

Hoover also claimed the late President Herbert Hoover was his uncle or great-uncle. One problem here is that the former President had one brother who was the father of daughters, not sons, meaning no one with the Hoover surname could be a nephew or great nephew of Herbert Hoover.

It would seem Hoover began his quest for the Presidency around June, 2016, if his Facebook entries are an indicator. It is difficult to ascertain how many of his statements were made as a form of jest. Hoover expressed a desire to have the following people as his running-mate: Bernie Sanders, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Mark Cuban, and Mark Zuckerberg. He also offered to be the running-mate for Sanders, Cuban and Hillary Clinton.

I would be willing to leave Roe v. Wade in exchange for a national sterilization bill. Hoover did not appear on any ballots nor was he registered as a write-in in any state. In a Nov. 6, 2016 Youtube presentation he expressed a hope that Clinton and Trump would deadlock and as a result Congress would turn to Roger Hoover as the compromise choice.

Full disclosure, I supported Sanders in 2016 and 2020, although I was never an activist. Because I am not a Democrat, I did not participate in Washington State's 2016 caucus or 2020 Democratic primary, so my support was merely that of armchair observation. I voted for Clinton and Biden in the general elections of 2016 and 2020.
I lived in Burlington in 1979 and perhaps ran into Sanders in some of the small Lefty live music venues I enjoyed frequenting.
