The campaign:

Jade Simmons, based in Kingwood, Tex., filed as an Unaffiliated candidate for President with the FEC on Feb. 21, 2020.

Simmons' varied career included being a concert pianist, motivational speaker, author, and Miss Illinois (1999).

Dubbing her campaign "Operation Restoration," Simmons took a centrist leaning Left approach and felt that as an outsider with communication skills she could end the hyper-partisanship that was dominating public discussion of all things political and cultural. She told one reporter, "I feel like what we're watching is the nation, especially culturally, spiritually and racially, being ripped to shreds. So I feel like what we're restoring is our original identity. I look back at the concept of us really being one nation, under God and indivisible."

One press release summarized the platform: "Operation Restoration - The mission of Operation Restoration, the campaign of Jade Simmons, is to 1) to restore the United States of America to its' God-given identity of being a unified nation, that honors God and serves ALL people, 2) to strip away the dysfunctional practices of divisive politics and bring forth a new lane of leadership that prioritizes people over profit, political games, and personal agendas and 3) to give voice to the voiceless and the "muted middle" – those individuals that don't fully agree with the left side or the right side but believe there is a place in the middle where we can honorably meet and find common ground on the issues that matter to our country."

Claudeliah J. Roze was announced as the running-mate on Sept. 20, 2020. Her biography was presented on the campaign website--

Claudeliah J. Roze has an accomplished 20+ year career serving in positions of trust in the aerospace, defense, and intelligence communities. She is a naturally strategic and dynamic team leader who effectively navigates politically-charged environments to create alliances and solutions that benefit those at stake. Roze is regularly consulted by senior and executive leadership within her company on critical matters that affect both the business bottom line and the culture of the organization.  Claudeliah is currently the first African-American female Technology Director with a large aerospace and defense company.

She is the daughter of two United States Army Veterans.  A father who achieved his high school diploma during his first of 2 Vietnam war deployments and a mother who also served in the United States Army and later became the first of her 12 siblings to graduate with her bachelor’s and master’s degree.  A product of a strong military family, Claudeliah is passionate about providing full support to United States service women and men throughout and after their military careers.

In her work, Ms. Roze leads a team of senior engineers and engineering fellows in developing transformational and cutting-edge technologies in the interest of national security.  With a focus on strategic investments and timely, coordinated execution, she guides teams in considering customer's current and future needs, evaluating partnerships in the commercial market, and building the company’s capabilities and strengths.

Throughout her 20+ year career, she has supported key defense and intelligence programs, serving in both the customer’s and her company’s best interest.  Claudeliah is deeply passionate about building diverse and high-functioning teams that serve people.

As Vice President, Claudeliah will cast a vision for revitalizing the United State's position as the most technologically-advanced nation in the world, developing a hybrid model of manufacturing, services, and financial sectors to create more jobs, economic stability, and regain our independence as a producer and exporter of goods, services, and policy.

An awardee of the Mae Jemison Engineering Scholarship, she graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Claudeliah’s history of professional excellence has earned her national recognition as a Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA) Modern Day Technologist in 2019, which recognizes an individual’s commitment to shaping the future of engineering, science, and technology. In addition to highlighting Claudeliah’s accomplished technical career, the prestigious award focused on her passion for developing diverse leaders that will evolve the face of technology.

In her corporate role, she is successfully implementing a business-wide initiative with partnerships from their Women’s Network and their Black Employees Network to increase innovation and develop and mentor a diverse pipeline of senior technologists, scientists, and fellows, highlighting women and people of color.

During a time when our nation is facing an increasingly complex security environment defined by rapid technological change, Claudeliah supports United States readiness by empowering innovation and delivering new capabilities to our Defense & Intelligence forces.

Simmons/Roze finished 11th in the national election, at the top of what I would consider the third tier of third party results, actually outpolling the Socialist Workers Party. They were on the ballot in Oklahoma (0.23%) and Louisiana (0.08%). They were also registered write-ins in over two dozen additional states. In Florida the running-mate was Melissa Nixon.

Since both candidates were residents of Texas, there would have been a potential Constitutional problem in the event of their victory.

The campaign:

Entertainer Kanye West, who had been identified as a pro-Trump Christian conservative in recent years, announced he was running for President on July 4, 2020. Giving his address as Cody, Wyo., he filed with the FEC under the Birthday Party on July 16, 2020. His running mate was also from Cody, a Biblical life coach, dental office worker, and self-proclaimed servant of God named Michelle Tidball.

Tidball had an autobiography on her commercial webpage that had been removed by the time of the campaign--

I had my first encounter with God as six months old when my mother awoke to find that I was slipping away into a crib death. In a hospital tent God first visited me and spoke life and destiny which I can still recall today. My childhood consisted of visitations and atmospheric encounters. Being raised in the church I loved God, encountered Him, but wanted to know more. At seventeen I had an encounter in the heavenly realms and made a decision to serve Him all the days of my life. The first thing God did was teach me about His Sabbath, Feasts, and Word!  I began walking in His cycles and began to know and understand.

I have various degrees in mental health and criminal justice. I worked as a mental health therapist for ten years and then shifted into life coaching. This seemed a good transition helping people get “unstuck” in their lives using biblical principles and prophetic insight. I use this as well to help sons who are “stuck” and are not encountering God as they were designed to.

I have been involved in almost all aspects of ministry including speaking, pastoring, prayer, teaching, and the most time spent in bringing deliverance to those who are in bondage. My heart has always been to walk in the fullness of sonship and to bring others into manifesting their sonship – to be about His business and see the completion of things He mandated before the foundations of the world.

I look forward to bringing the word with experience and practical counsel on walking as brilliant sons manifested upon the earth!

As the campaign began it was apparent West knew a lot more about how to gain publicity than he did about the basic workings of government. On July 8 he had a long interview with Forbes which was used a reference point until Election Day. Some quotes--

I would run as a Republican if Trump wasn’t there. I will run as an independent if Trump is there.

Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation.

One of the main reasons I wore the red hat as a protest to the segregation of votes in the Black community. Also, other than the fact that I like Trump hotels and the saxophones in the lobby.

One time I talked to Jared Kushner, who was saying, ‘We don’t have Black leaders, we just have hustlers.’ Why? Because they killed all the Black leaders.

That is a form of racism and white supremacy and white control to say that all Black people need to be Democrat and to assume that me running is me splitting the vote. All of that information is being charged up on social media platforms by Democrats. And Democrats used to tell me, the same Democrats have threatened me. . . . The reason why this is the first day I registered to vote is because I was scared. I was told that if I voted on Trump my music career would be over. I was threatened into being in one party. I was threatened as a celebrity into being in one party. I was threatened as a Black man into the Democratic party. And that’s what the Democrats are doing, emotionally, to my people. Threatening them to the point where this white man can tell a Black man if you don’t vote for me, you’re not Black.

Let’s see if the appointing is at 2020 or if it’s 2024—because God appoints the president. If I win in 2020 then it was God’s appointment. If I win in 2024 then that was God’s appointment.

It’s so many of our children that are being vaccinated and paralyzed. . . . So when they say the way we’re going to fix Covid is with a vaccine, I’m extremely cautious. That’s the mark of the beast. They want to put chips inside of us, they want to do all kinds of things, to make it where we can’t cross the gates of heaven. I'm sorry when I say they, the humans that have the Devil inside them. And the sad thing is that, the saddest thing is that we all won’t make it to heaven, that there’ll be some of us that do not make it. Next question.

God just gave me the clarity and said it’s time. You know I was out there, ended up in the hospital, people were calling me crazy. I'm not crazy. Between all of the influences and the positions that we can be put in as musicians—you go on tour, you put out all these albums, and you look up and you don’t have any money in your account. It can drive you crazy, through all of that I was looking crazy because it wasn’t the time. Now it’s time. And we’re not going crazy, we’re going Yeezy, it’s a whole ‘notha level now. N-O-T-H-A.

I don’t know if I would use the word ‘policy’ for the way I would approach things. I don’t have a policy when I went to Nike and designed Yeezy and went to Louis and designed a Louis Vuitton at the same time. It wasn’t a policy, it was a design. We need to innovate the design to be able to free the mind at this time.

A lot of Africans do not like the movie [Black Panther] and representation of themselves in…Wakanda. But I’m gonna use the framework of Wakanda right now because it’s the best explanation of what our design group is going to feel like in the White House…That is a positive idea: you got Kanye West, one of the most powerful humans—I’m not saying the most because you got a lot of alien-level superpowers and it’s only collectively that we can set it free. Let’s get back to Wakanda . . . like in the movie in Wakanda when the king went to visit that lead scientist to have the shoes wrap around her shoes. Just the amount of innovation that can happen, the amount of innovation in medicine—like big pharma—we are going to work, innovate, together. This is not going to be some Nipsey Hussle being murdered, they’re doing a documentary, we have so many soldiers that die for our freedom, our freedom of information, that there is a cure for AIDS out there, there is going to be a mix of big pharma and holistic.

West had registered to vote for the first time in his life at the same time he announced. Even with the backing of Elon Musk and several Republican operatives, West's attempt to gain ballot access in several states was something of a debacle. Missed deadlines and suspicious petition signatures were part of the problem.

The candidate found himself frequently defending his campaign against charges that he was either in the race for commercial self-promotion, or, was a Trump-backed ringer designed to draw votes away from Biden.

There was also a weird sideshow that began in mid-August--

The far Right and Christian-based American Independent Party in California, which had nominated Trump/Pence in 2016, chose Rocky De La Fuente as their nominee, who was already the nominee of the Alliance and Reform parties. But De La Fuente's running-mate Darcy Richardson was bumped as the VP and replaced with Kanye West. Apparently this VP choice was accomplished without input from any of the nominees. De La Fuente said, "I was not consulted to see if I wanted Mr. West as my running mate ... Obviously, we're a weird—and I wanted Mr. Richardson as my running mate—but it was their decision and their decision only."

De La Fuente had entered the AIP primary in Mar. 2020, but came in second to Phil Collins, who was also the Prohibition Party nominee for President.

The Independent Political Report quoted Darcy Richardson--

“Please let Rocky know that if he runs with the unstable, bi-polar Trump-loving Kanye West in California that I will withdraw as his vice-presidential running mate nationally,” Richardson declared in a text message to [AIP official Mark] Seidenberg earlier today. “I’ve spent my entire adult life battling the duopoly and certainly DO NOT want my name associated with a candidacy that peripherally includes a Trump/GOP plant like the unhinged rapper….Bill Shearer must be rolling over in his grave.”

It should be noted that Richardson did remain in the race, or at that was my impression when I posted our interview Oct. 6, 2020. In it he said--

Rocky and I are on the ballot in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vermont.  We also hope to be official write-in candidates in a couple of dozen states.

Rocky is also on the ballot in populous California where --- much to my chagrin --- he's paired with unhinged, pro-Trump rapper Kanye West on the American Independent Party ticket, a remnant of segregationist George Wallace's 1968 presidential campaign.

West was also not pleased with being nominated VP, calling the AIP "deceitful" and issued a statement that included, "I am campaigning to be the next president of our great country — not vice president ... The political party in California that listed my name as its VP candidate has done so without my knowledge ... Californians, I ask for your vote for president and urge you to write in ‘Kanye West.’"

The De La Fuente/West ticket placed 5th out of the 6 positions on the California ballot with 0.34% of the vote in that state. It was by far De La Fuente's largest bloc of votes nationally.

Back to the Birthday Party vote tally-- West was on the ballot in a dozen states and registered as a write-in a dozen more. His strongest results: Utah 0.48%, Idaho 0.42%, Oklahoma 0.36%, Arkansas and Tennessee and Vermont 0.34% each, Kentucky 0.30%, Mississippi 0.28%, Colorado 0.25%. Amazingly, the West/Tidnall ticket finished in 7th place, ahead of several longtime third parties such as the Constitution and Socialist Workers parties.

West has been teasing a run for 2024.

Deborah Rouse of Athens, Tenn. jumped in extra early with the FEC to run in the 2020 election. Before the previous election was completed, she filed as an Independent on Sept. 26, 2016. On Aug. 1, 2017 she changed her affiliation to "Write-In" and named her running-mate, Tammie Jane Landreth. On Jan. 16, 2018 the VP was changed to Sheila Cannon.

A couple years ago or so I had engaged in a friendly email correspondence with the Presidential candidate in order to request an interview with Sheila Cannon of Michigan, which was refused for reasons unknown. We parted amiably. I recall there was a lot more information online back then than I can find today regarding the Rouse campaign, especially on Youtube. But if memory serves, Cannon was someone Rouse was acquainted with through her occupational life via phone contact.

I also seem to remember Rouse was a Christian who felt, regardless of the outcome of the election, she had been directed to run by God and/or Jesus.

Rouse's campaign website is still available but only offers a series of now defunct links and this very brief mission statement--

My only promise is, that I will not make any promises. As your President, I will enter the position with zeal and excitement, to better serve the people of the United States of America. "Hope" let's bring it back to America! God Bless The United States of America!

Rouse/Cannon were registered write-ins in at least 11 states.

The campaign:

Scott Cubbler of Houston, Tex. filed with the FEC rather late in the game, Oct. 6, 2016 under the party category of None. His running-mate was Michael Rodriguez of Laguna Hills, Calif. It appears Cubbler had actually started his campaign in Jan. 2016.

A self-identified Evangelical Christian, Cubbler was a former Marine who had worked in the US Dept. of Homeland Security. His main goal was to deny either Trump or Clinton the 270 Electoral votes needed to win and to throw the election into the US House.

His electioneering was chiefly through social media and he posted numerous short pieces on Youtube, but he did receive a little bit of news coverage. Some quotes--

"We need integrity from our political leaders. They should be setting the standard for everything, not constant scandal after scandal after scandal. The election should not be about them. It should be about us."

"My desire is to find a middle ground where we can have reasonable, practical, and positive solutions for whatever issue we are talking about. Red and blue create purple. How can we collaborate and bring the different sides together? Everybody does not have to get their way, but everybody deserves an opportunity to be heard."

"In my mind, if you are going to be the Commander-in-Chief, military experience is one of the things you need to effectively employ troops, and to understand that you are sending men and women into dire straits with some severe consequences. The use of the military is a very serious matter."

"The current environment of constantly berating each other is not becoming to any of us. I did not get into this campaign as a game. I get the fact that this is audacious, but it is possible. If enough folks grab onto what I am trying to do, we can make this happen. Let us take the election back into our hands, instead of leaving it to parties that are just going to tell us what to do."

Cubbler was a registered write-in in Alaska, Georgia, Kentucky, Texas, and Virginia. The bulk of his popular vote came from the Lone Star State.

Georgia-based David C. Byrne, a perennial write-in candidate for President and Governor of Georgia since 2000, declared he was in the race for a fifth attempt at the White House for 2016. He named Donald J. Bortz as his running-mate. The details about the VP are as elusive as finding any material on their campaign itself.

The Byrne/Bortz ticket were registered write-ins in Alaska (where write-in vote results were not deconstructed), and Georgia (8 votes).

The campaign:

Dr. Matthew Roberts, a political science teacher from Grand Rapids, Mich., inserted the middle name of "None of the Above" in order to stand out among the write-ins. "Is there a better alternative to the system we have now? That's the conversation we need to have," Matthew "None of the Above" Roberts told the press. Part of his motivation was also using the campaign as an educational experience for his students. His social media blitz and serious effort to be an official write-in began on June 1, 2016.

NOTA as a ballot choice, nation-wide
What exactly are we suggesting?

Election ballots, whether physical or electronic, should include a "none of the above" option that allows full participation in the election while registering disapproval of the candidates available. In addition, election results must be reported with the inclusion of total NOTA votes.

Scope. At a basic level, the NOTA option should be available in all elections for state-wide or federal offices (e.g. governor/lieutenant governor, President, United States senator, member of the United States House of Representatives). Having the NOTA option available for other elections (e.g. state representative, mayor, etc.) may be desirable, but its practicality depends on how the policy is implemented.

Impact. NOTA proposals vary based what happens if the NOTA category receives a plurality of votes. In the "light" approach to NOTA, the results are reported with NOTA's victory highlighted, but the next highest human vote-getter takes office. In the "harder" version, a NOTA plurality triggers a new election or other consequences. For example, if a political party receives fewer votes than NOTA, it may find that it does not receive automatic ballot access in future elections. Harder versions may be more difficult to pass into law since they will directly impact the power of existing office holders. From a policy position, it might also be wise to limit the number of instances where new elections are triggered by a NOTA victory. Elections have a direct and negative impact on state and local budgets, unlike other consequences.

What challenges does this policy face?

With only a few exceptions, states are in control of elections. As a result there's no easy way to establish a national standard about adding "none of the above" to ballots. Being successful will require either coordinated grassroots action across the states or some level of extraordinary action at the national level.

"None of the above" voting also directly challenges the power of the two major political parties. To be successful, we will need a strong and sustained grassroots lobbying effort to push for change when the political establishment begins dragging its heels.

 How could states implement this policy?

    Through constitutions. One option for implementing NOTA voting is to amend state constitutions. In most states, this process is much easier than amending the federal constitution. Unfortunately, when amending a constitution becomes easier, it also means that the constitution offers a lot less protection.
    Through laws about ballots. Nevada's election law (NRS 293.269) requires that ballots for statewide offices include a separate line for "none of these candidates." Other states could follow suit, providing an option that voters can see on their ballots and which will register an official protest vote.
    Through vote counting. An actual ballot entry for "none of the above" would be the ideal choice. Much of the same effect can be achieved, though, by altering laws about vote counting. If every vote that could be reasonably interpreted as a vote for "none of the above" (e.g. nobody, no one, none of these, etc.) were counted and reported as such, it would still be possible to measure the number of protest votes in an election.

Why is this policy a good idea?

There are many reasons why elections in the United States need a "none of the above" option. We say that we believe in "free, fair, and open" elections. While this doesn't guarantee that the election result will be exactly what you want, it does mean you have the right to cast a vote of your choosing. Your vote serves as an official record of your opinion. And right now, the only opinion you're not allowed to have is "none of the above."

"None of the above" voters often decide to stay home instead of voting on election day. Others encourage this and suggest that it's the way you show political disapproval in our country. This is both misguided and politically offensive. Non-voting happens for many reasons—political apathy, for example. But dissatisfaction is NOT apathy. It may in fact be the exact opposite. To suggest that dissatisfied voters should stay home and not vote hides the voice of protest. It is also tantamount to disenfranchisement.

Finally, adding a NOTA option to ballots can fill an important role in maintaining a peaceful political order. At the moment, dissatisfaction is forced out of the regular political process. It hides in the shadows, uncounted and unrecognized, masquerading as non-voting or as a vote for a "lesser of two evils" candidate. Or maybe it doesn't hide at all. Instead it boils up in protest and the potential for violence. Providing a NOTA option can't cure unrest, but it can provide official recognition for dissatisfaction. And when dissent has been made visible, the political establishment will be unable to deny its existence.

How can we pursue this policy?

    The Legislative Approach. Use the NOTA organization to coordinate a grassroots campaign to lobby state governments. At the same time, encourage states to adopt NOTA legislation by making certain federal funds conditional on states adopting pro-NOTA policies (an approach upheld by the Supreme Court in South Dakota v Dole, 1987).
    The Constitutional Approach. A nation-wide policy on adding NOTA to ballots could be achieved through a constitutional amendment. Given the requirements of the amendment process, this option would be far more difficult to implement than the legislative approach.
    The Judicial Approach. Previous social movements have achieved national policy changes through the court system. There's no clearly established argument for challenging election laws that fail to include NOTA options. However, the Supreme Court at least tacitly approved of NOTA when it failed to a take a case that challenged Nevada's "None of these Candidates" law. With the right case and a carefully crafted set of legal arguments, it may be possible to establish that the right to vote must necessarily include the right to cast a disapproval vote.

Other Issues

Our campaign is focused on 1) promoting "none of the above" voting as a national policy; and 2) registering collective disapproval of the candidates for president in the 2016 election.

While campaigns can focus on single issues, administrations cannot. Information and positions on additional issues may become available if NOTA supporters request it.

The running-mate was Charles "Charlie" Clauss of Minnesota, who called Roberts "one of my former students." Clauss appeared to be a progressive Christian and expressed some interest in the American Solidarity Party.

In the website for the Living Church Foundation, Clauss' biography states--

Charlie Clauss was born in San Francisco and came of age in Georgia. Now he has lived in Minneapolis longer than anywhere else. His family belonged to Lutheran Church in America congregations, which became part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

When Charlie and his wife arrived in Colorado Springs in the mid to late 1990s, they joined an Episcopal church. Living in the South, with a Baptist church on every corner, Charlie was a Lutheran. Now living in Minnesota, with a Lutheran church on every corner, he is an Episcopalian.

He has served on the vestry and as warden at Messiah Episcopal Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Charlie tried being an engineer (Georgia Tech, chemical engineering, 1984). Then he tried teaching high school (Teacher Education Certificate, math, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, 1988). And back to engineering (University of Minnesota, MS, civil engineering, 1996). He has taken classes at Trinity School for Ministry.

From 1997 to 2015, Charlie worked for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate Student and Faculty Ministry, doing campus work in Minnesota.

He works as a technical support representative for a humidification company.

When he is not reading with a cat curled up nearby, playing volleyball, playing in a flight simulator, watching science fiction, or keeping up with his two daughters, Charlie is probably surfing the web.

According to Roberts' campaign website, he was officially registered as a write-in in 14 states.

Douglas W. Thomson of Cincinnati and Thomas A. Ducro Jr. of Loveland, Ohio ran as a write-in ticket in 2016. Both were registered as Republicans. Thomson filed with the FEC on May 31, 2016 as an Independent under the committee name of Cincinnatus 2016 Friends of Thomson-Ducro.

Thomson's campaign website is still available but only in a partial way. From what I gather, Thomson's platform was sort of a small government Christian-based set of policies. He supported Brexit, felt building a wall between Mexico and the US was a poor solution to illegal immigration, and did not seem to have much use for the major candidates. Requiem for the Rule of Law

This week the rule of law died.  When the FBI Director failed to recommend an indictment against Hillary Clinton despite overwhelming evidence of criminal conduct, it was a monumental pronouncement that the rule of law no longer applies to the ruling elite.  Much as the major banks became too big to fail during the last economic crisis, certain members of the ruling elite are now too big to jail.

We have now come full circle. The foundation of our system of justice occurred on the fields of Runnymede when King John signed the Magna Carta and acknowledged that even the king was subject to the law.  Now the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, skates without repercussion and will likely end up as our next President.

We have only ourselves to blame for this. The Clintons would have been dispatched decades ago by a moral and righteous people.  Instead of relegated to a life of exile and disgrace they live lives of extreme luxury with a home in the Hamptons funded by speaking fees and shakedowns to the Clinton Foundation.  At the time of the impeachment of Bill Clinton, those who sat in judgment had piles of their own dirty laundry which precluded taking action which would have saved the Republic from its current sorry state.

With Hillary getting a free pass to the Presidency, those who think they are so clever are only accelerating the Republic’s demise.  If the rule of law no longer applies to the ruling elite, just who does it apply to?  Does it only apply to the little people like you and me?  Lets think about this.  If the ruling elite think they can act with impunity, then how about their staff?  How about people below them?  At some point the little people will conclude there is no merit in obeying the law if their leaders fail to follow suit.  Instead of exhibiting a solid moral core our leaders have become a septic ball of puss which will infect the body politic.  While anyone in the medical profession knows that a septic infection is difficult to get rid of and sometimes is fatal, it can be beaten.  In this case the American people need to make up their minds that they will no longer tolerate this nonsense and elect leaders who believe that we are a nation of laws and that reverence for the law is a necessary foundation for a stable Republic.

Could The Solutions to our Problems Be Spiritual?

This Fourth of July we celebrated the birth of our nation on Lake Michigan.  We were treated to beautiful sunsets and a fireworks display over the lake from our neighboring community of New Buffalo.  While this was far geographically from the tragic police shootings in Dallas, events  like this have a way of being always present in your mind.  Since this campaign is based on finding solutions, I have some thoughts and solutions for the multitude of problems we now face.

Could the source of our problems be found at a deeper level?  Are we busy treating the symptoms but not the cause?  On the Fourth of July we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence which is the birth certificate of our nation.  We often hear the ringing words by Thomas Jefferson:  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”  These words affirm that there is a Creator who is the source of all.  He is a creative God and from him emanates all rights and life.

We now sing with gusto “God Bless America” which has become our informal national anthem, but do we truly mean these words?  If we truly want God to bless us, wouldn’t it make sense for us to seek his will and do it?  My take is that this nation is seriously off track.  Others agree.  Over the weekend I read the book, The Harbinger, which while fictional is based on current events.  The basic thrust of the book was that God allowed the events of 9/11 to occur as a wake up call to this country.  These planes stuck at the heart of our financial and military centers.  In essence God is giving us an opportunity to turn to him.

The history of Israel is instructive for us currently.  As Israel continued its downward slide into apostacy and moral decline, God sent repeated warnings.  The people simply could not believe that God would ever abandon them.  After all they were his chosen people and God resided in the temple.  This was a wrong conclusion.  God removed his protective hedge and permitted the sacking of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple by the Roman legions.  We cannot afford to make that same mistake.

There is a promise in scripture for how to heal this country and it is contained in 2 Chronicles 7:14.  “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”   Let’s consider acting on this promise and seeking a true cure for our nation.

The Cry of My Heart

This campaign season cannot end soon enough.  Each of the major campaigns continues to focus on accusations and not solutions to our nation’s problems.  The cry of my heart is for a leader who:

    Views the office of the Presidency as a matter of public service and not as a platform to enrich themselves;
    Implements policies to help the average American and not special interests;
    Puts the nation on sound financial footing and not saddling future generations with debt that cannot be paid;
    Tells the truth.  We Americans can handle it;
    Is honest;
    Is faithful to their spouse.  Vows at the alter mean something so does the vow to uphold the office of the Presidency;
    Obeys the law.  The laws apply to all and not just the average citizen;
    Enforces the laws of the land and not just those the President agrees with;
    Works with all branches of government and doesn’t attempt to create laws by Presidential edict;
    Works to unite the nation toward shared goals;
    Runs the office with integrity.
    Serves as a moral example;
    Works to make the nation as “a light on a hill” and not a bully on the playground.
    Positions the nation for the long term.

Hopefully someday a leader will emerge who employs these virtues as this is the cry of my heart.

Thomson and Ducro were registered as write-ins in Alaska and Ohio. Since both candidates were residents of the same state there would have been a potential Constitutional  problem in the event of their victory.

Prior to the 2016 Presidential election, Jacob Seth Kern had run for the office of Mayor of Anchorage, Alaska three times, and in the US Senate primary as a Democrat in 2010.

If I am guessing with any accuracy, Kern's running-mate was his mother, Debra. Other son-mother tickets have included Daniel Steven Burkhardt/Georgia Loyce Burkhardt (Independent, 1996), Rick L. Rogers/Marilyn Jean Downs (Independent, 2012), and Johnson Immanuel Yuquimpo Li, Jr./Aida Nery Yuquimpo Li (Star Spangled Independent Party, 2016).

Much of Kern's online presence in the 2016 campaign has been deleted, but a Q&A during his 2015 mayoral campaign conducted by The Northern Light is still available, giving us some insight on his platform--

The Kerns were registered as write-ins in the State of Alaska. Since both were residents of the same state there would have been a potential Constitutional issue of them assuming office in the event of their victory.

The campaign:

Deacon Newell Taylor of Union City, Calif. registered as an Independent for President on Sept. 30, 2014. By the time Christopher Robert "Chris" Keniston of Vernon, Tex. registered with the FEC for President under the banner of the Veterans Party of America on Aug. 18, 2015, Taylor had changed course and was the VPA running-mate.

The VPA had been jump started from a previous attempt dating back to 2003-2006, at which time the Party experienced some kind of split and was absorbed, to a degree, by the Modern Whig Party. In 2013 it rose again and by the 2016 election had already elected a couple candidates to municipal offices.

Deacon Taylor's Presidential run from Sept. 2014 to Aug. 2015 seems to have been waged mostly on social media. I gather he was running under the name of the Rational Party. Some posts from that effort--

I grew up as a farm kid in the northern Wyoming.  I believe I am duty bound to sacrifice everything to defend this nation against all enemies foreign and domestic.  
Right now the enemy I see are the war pigs.  The ones that call for war to destroy another culture because they want more money and power.

They are all the same!  Political prostitutes working for the 1%.  They say whatever it takes to get elected and then have selective memory on what the voters want.
They hide behind riders on bills rather than approving a line item veto that would allow the public to know what they really stand for or against.
It is way past time we the people take back our government from the career politicians.  It is time for more than two choices.  
I am for the Rational Party a new party that is not red or blue we are purple.  We stand for the people.  Of the people, by the people and for the people.....I am running in 2016 for the office of the President of the United States.

One can see that starting around June 2015, at least on social media, Taylor began to gravitate to the Veterans Party of America and by August was asked by Presidential nominee Keniston to be the running-mate. Taylor's acceptance speech on Aug. 15, 2015 contained a bit of autobiography--

Thank you all for being part of our launch and taking the time to participate in this historic event, when the Veterans Party of America begins the process of returning the power of our government to its rightful owners: we the people. For too long this nation has been held hostage by a broken two-Party system. Tonight we are gathered to change the course of this nation. We are gathered to regain the trust of the American people. We are gathered to organize a campaign to restore this nation to its full glory. We are gathered to reaffirm our oath to defend and protect the Constitution and Bill of Rights as the foundations of our country. On Sept. 8, 2015, Keniston put some of the philosophical differences between himself and Taylor in a positive light, apparently in response to some criticism--

Deacon Taylor agreed to be my running mate at my invitation. I was not compelled by anyone to make that decision. Had he won the nomination, I would have been honored to serve as his running mate.

I have observed and interacted with Deacon since I joined this party. I know him to be an extremely thoughtful, factual and principled man. His commitment to ethical representation and Constitutional government is no less than my own. We often look at things from vastly different perspectives. I am extremely grateful for that.

I do not want a monkey on a leash for a running mate. I do not want a partner who sees things as I do. I want a partner who sees what I am missing. I encourage Deacon to be himself, provided we remain aligned in our commitment to serving the American people.

Meanwhile, Taylor campaigned by touring the USA on a motorcycle.

The VPA presented itself as a centrist alternative, but a look at their stand on the issues revealed a decidedly conservative slant. They seemed slightly more moderate than the Republicans of 2016. The official platform included secure borders, a beefed up military, an increase of ICE agents, abolishing the US Dept. of Education, amend the Constitution to mandate a balanced budget, abolish income tax and impose a national sales tax, outlaw corporate and labor union campaign donations, pro term limits, and English as the official language. On the other side, they avoided taking a stand as a party on many divisive litmus test social issues.

If the VPA had a response to candidate and non-veteran Donald "Bone Spur" Trump's remarks about Sen. McCain, "He's not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured," I did not find it.

Keniston/Taylor were on the ballot in Colorado (0.18%) and Louisiana (0.9%) and were registered as write-ins in at least 10 other states.

CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS
I recognize the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and The Declaration of Independence. Do they ALL need to be rewritten? Perhaps. Let's survey the PEOPLE.

EDUCATION
Every single child should be privy to the best education possible. I promote advanced education for anyone capable of learning at a faster pace. Students should be required to learn at least 5 different languages including English, Spanish and French. Teachers' salaries definitely need to increase dramatically. I support students being required to wear uniforms coast to coast, tastier healthier meals including breakfast, lunch and snacks, time for meditation/prayer, laptops for low income households, book bags with wheels, coats and lessons being streamed live during inclement weather.

ENERGY POLICY
Disconnecting someone's utilities due to non-payment should be banned. Alternate energy sources are a must: solar, wind, water, possibly the conversion of organic wastes and biofuels, along with the use of coal, oil and natural gas.  There's no free lunch but there IS FREE ENERGY--let's use it!

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
I support clean air, let's GO GREEN!  And let's clean up our water supply!  Too much lead and other cancer causing agents.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible budgeting is paramount. Cost effectiveness and critical need should play a key role. If our country is currently spending $3.72 trillion on federal programs and services a year and only generating $2.165, we must fix the problem.

FOREIGN POLICY
I support being neighborly; however, sometimes it's best to mind your own business, whether it's next door or abroad. While it's good to have allies, can anyone really be trusted? Let's make sure the US has everything it needs and is well protected and then worry about other countries. We can consult and share, no problem--take care of home first.

GOVERNMENT & ETHICS
Our government should be for the PEOPLE--not just those who funded their campaigns and retirement packages. Elected officials and lobbyists can not create and control situations that only benefit them.

JOB CREATION
Jobs should be offered to American citizens first---BOTTOM LINE! Outsourcing should be a last resort.  If they can't vote in America why should America be their source of income!  Take care of home first!

NATIONAL SECURITY
Border security is a must, but not for the purpose of keeping desperate people out who want a better way of life.  The illegal importation and exportation of deadly drugs and weapons of mass destruction should be prohibited. Human trafficking, black market economy and terrorism is NOT ALLOWED. All information regarding our safety should be considered.

PERSONAL HEALTHCARE
Everyone should be entitled to receive medical/dental/vision care--it should be based on income. Holistic/alternative medicine should be the choice of the person receiving the service provided. Citizens must be proactive.

SOCIAL ISSUES
This is a tricky one.  A women's body is just that--her body. While I do not encourage abortion, I know some women get raped and some women's lives are compromised by pregnancy. Ultimately, GOD IS THE JUDGE! I DO NOT SUPPORT THE DEATH PENALTY! The LGBT (lesbians, gays, bi-sexuals and trans-gender) citizens should have the same rights as anyone else.

Let's bury the name and change it to CONVENIENCE FEES! Let's base these fees on income.

Meanwhile, in Apr. 2014 Keisha L. Merchant (aka Marshawnt Keyshay aka Coach Kay) announced she was running for President. Like Morris, she also used social media as her main campaign device for her Diversity Management Party. She presented a mixture of philosophies that included anime, Christianity, New Age (note the following reference to Louise Hay), game theory, and a promotion of her coaching business Miaa Tipx Corps, the latter of which was a central theme in her platform as presented on her campaign blog--

These treaties will be enforced through negotiations, having discussions at the round table. Using the theory of the Double Swing Communications Model by, Muneo Yoshikawa, Each change agent and agency will be a volunteer service in this operations to overcome the five dysfunctions of a team, the theory of decay, Patrick Lencioni. They will build by coaching, inspiration and motivation to use the techniques of transformative leadership to know as a situational leadership approach mix with style leadership approach into theories of managing teams. Dictators or any tyrants that cannot change by laying down resistance to the global initiative of The State of Union to be unionized through the model of care ethics by Patricia Hill Collins. The enforcement will be through discourse and conversations as to the model of Muneo Yoshikawa strategies of success and Maslow’s Hierarchy, motivational model of success.

Education using my system of Miaa X Education: to build the poverty stricken areas and wealth systems cross training for rehabilitation into diversity management. This model is called Judment in managerial decision making by Bazerman and Moore, that will include theories of overcoming heuristics and bias, and how to be an effective decision maker. This cross training system will revisit all communities to educate and re-educate all citizens through the virtual reality experience into how to use gaming and simulation to build the mind, expand the horizons of each decision maker. This process will be an incentive program to give tax breaks to all citizens who participate, and those who do not have taxes a stipend to do the programs annually. If the stipends cannot come through the government programs, this will be solicited among the Gift Giving Ambassadors to adopt the program.

Health and Human Services using my system called Miaa X, the Phoenix Ways System: This is the system that will use alternative medicine breakthroughs to set up clinics, and camps as a holistic approach into health and wellness. It will be an incentive plan for medical doctors to expand their horizons and the communities to build their skills in finding more ways to build longevity, and increase immortality through decreasing mortality rates through alternative medicine as a second hand system. This will train all healers to work in this system as an alternative approach to the health industry as a Holistic Therapy system for those who cannot afford the health care system, and choose a natural approach to heal, restore, regenerate and rebuild their lives. Louise Hay will be one of many experts used as a model for this system. Technology created for this system will be used to build this second hand system to compliment the other systems, but a free access to all these systems under my Administration season. And encouraged beyond my terms if not elected or fulfilled terms as a leader.

Homeland Security, using my system called Miaa Tipx the Avatar System, will be the second hand agency to cross train the Homeland Security system. This system will be an auditing system to the Homeland Security system. This system will work under cover to research and investigate any practices, policies and procedures that will cause weak, defective and decay in the lives of sustainable living in each household. It will not be used to socially control but as a recommendation, it will be used to give free access to strengthen all areas of safety and security systems in our communities at large. These recommendations will be exposed by a third party to separate the two entities from disclosure. This will allow citizens to have a track record and projections of Red zone behavior, Red zone situations, as such, each person have the opportunity, and free access to be defensive drivers of their own future. It is the second hand system to the Homeland Security system that give citizens access to their own defense systems through knowledge. Knowledge is power. Those who do not have access to training and resources to protect their own livelihood. This system will also build agencies in these At-Risk communities to give alternative strategies for safety and security for its residents.

Justice using my system called Miaa X Restorative Justice System will be the second hand agency that will be volunteered task force to become officials and advocates: representatives of those who do not have the skills to do the research, have access to justice, and submit proposals, plans, strategies, and step by step operational implementation structures that give all citizens access to restorative justice. The route to change management and diversity management rather punishment and capital punishment. The access to overcome dysfunctions and the opportunity to develop, grow and evolve from one location to the next location. This system is designed to send in professional, trained researcher professionals that build daily operational values working with their clients to ensure rehabilitation, track records of their work, activities, and the access to the right resources to manage their lives under regulation, so when integration happens, the client will have a higher percentage of success rather failure. On all levels of behavior and science of behavior, neuroscience will be one of many models used to rehabilitate, give alternative therapy and integrate interactive approaches into each client requesting restorative justice as a means to change and management of self-autonomy, self-actualization and self-organization. Cases like Trayvon will not happen using this system.

Labor using my system called Miaa Tipx X Corps using this apprentice section approach model will allow all citizens to have access to job training, coach, and teams as support systems for employers and job opportunities. Never again, will any citizen have to work under a union or any one without the support structure equivalent to the best support structures in comparison. This alternative system will allow each community have free access to resources and support systems to ensure equality and equal distribution for their labor and volunteer work. Membership to this Corps system will provide free access to intervention practices of professionals as a liaison, mentor and professional representative that will use all documentation as a track record and published work to expose all activities that are considered defective and Red zone materials that employers are ignoring. The client will be trained to overcome any dysfunction and defective approach by becoming Green Zone teams.

Issues of the State using the Miaa X system that allow the C3R3 System of a conflict resolution matrix for all states to be regulated through a volunteer task force that will audit their processes, practices and policies, report it publicly and become a neighborhood watch for all states and their leadership teams to keep communities healthy, sustainable and free access to Maslow’s Hierarchy system model of motivation by each household. It will send recommendations, warnings, and caution notices while building a case of justice and claim. This will allow the connection for State and Federal to work in the Green Zone networking system for all affairs to cooperate instead of defects of competition. The Federal will also be monitored and researched by this volunteer task force, neighborhood watch to keep all systems in balance through models of Maslow’s Hierarchy as a needs assessment one formula.

Issues of Interior using the Forestry, Recreation, Resource Management system called Miaa Tipx Ops as to urban eco-systems and urban management that allows a second hand operation to systematic regulate stronger alliances with Native Governments to rebuild unions and restoration treaties of sovereignty and land management, waste management and beautification of all lands, giving free access to all residents under proper technology for security and safety with proper techniques of alliances with all tribal communities. It is the operation system that work along side with all departments and governments to ensure conferences and initiatives that keep our communities in Green Zone behaviors. (Which is a collective network that ensures 100% healthy sustainable, resourceful distributive network support system that allows people to develop at their own pace, while giving access to support, creative resources and maintenance of all resources for access to all populations.)

Issues of Treasury using Miaa Tipx X Investments is a system used along side as a secondary system which is a volunteer task force that will build the budget, build marketing and advertisement strategies, communication systems, technology to rebuild our Green Zone world that allow more productivity and healthy stewardship of our financial(s) paying off debt, negotiating better cost and pricing, and distribution of access to capital through ending low access to bidding wars. Keeping a task force teams to be a neighborhood watch to find all corporations and government systems accounting practices, and policies of spending and regulating spending through research and reporting to the public on access to defensive survival guides that will be readily available via film, video and digital. Secure data bases that report all documentation of research and investigations and advocacy for policy change, law enforcement and legal structures to manage regulations and delegations for Red Zone behaviors.

Issues of Transportation using Miaa Tipx Technology and Transportation systems that will build innovative futuristic collaborations for all populations to have access to better communities that are built with a better blueprint of the States transportation system through research, collection of data and transformation phases to bring all states as one community with many levels and access through safe and secure transportation systems and technology that will be an addition to the car industry, train, metro and bus, airplane and other formulas of transportation from each location. This system is a reporting system for all documentation in my Administration public forum along with other forums as a third part non-partisan access to all information that will be unbiased. Main mission to give access to a collection of all data reported.

Issues of Agriculture, using Miaa Tipx Green Ag Living System will be another second hand agency that will be a volunteer task force that will collect all data from all properties and businesses that do our agriculture to investigate practices, policies, daily operational value within the internal and external culture whether public as to environmental injustices or to privately, labor injustices that create our new world resources. This resource, people management system of the largest industry will focus on better practices, multilevel and multidimensional access to technology, management and resource management, organization and distribution systems that decrease waste and increase access to all populations without the reckless approach to stewardship of all environments. Providing better practices for preserving earth, the planets as a neighboring citizen and access to the universe.

Issues of Veteran Affairs using Miaa Tipx XOP defense will be another volunteer services that will train and provide access to soldiers and their families communities and those who have access to intelligence of military, martial arts, defense, into the world of global initiative of stronger technology, communication systems and negotiation systems into strategy and global green zone structures and infrastructures as hydro galaxies. Finding the balance into equality and equity using better strategies to meet the demand of defense and freedom. These advocates and representatives will provide contract opportunities for Veterans and their communities also will provide access to documentation for building cases, grievances, hardship and other mediums that need support structures for these communities in abilities.

These volunteer task forces will be commissioned as officials of the Global Initiative to Restore citizens and the America Dream by making it accessible to all communities and regulations through documentation, reporting, and uncensored. It will be the Administration that work beside the government and our American Policy to ensure effectiveness and efficiency to the untimely accounts of our ever changing policies, practices and procedures. It will be called the Double Shift Access System, as to the Woman status in the household. The mother and the professional status. This system will become the double shift model for the country working beside my Administration Team to build a stronger world while my leadership transform through one mission, transforming our poverty into paradise. No one should be left behind. We all were born to sit at the table of restorative justice, happiness, health and security, safety and unity. Now it is my opportunity to build the country that serves all communities equally.

I have considered my Presidential Platform as Non-Partisan and Independent. I will not be running as a Democrat or Republican, any party but Diversity Management Party. This will allow people to know that we can all participate, engage, and develop our lives with one solid technique that is Green Zone behavior and practices through uncensored reporting, support structures that give equal distribution using the social evolution matrix for adaptive management systems that I have created through the Miaa Tipx Model of Leadership and Influence, along with Organizational Leadership structures integrated and interactive operations. This is an intellectual property that will build our country through equality mathematics and infinite processing mathematics.

My decisions as a President if selected will be based on the readiness of change we are as a people and team with leadership to leadership model of equality, access to resources, management and good stewardship, then the right decisions can be made in our performance and access to sustainability. Until then, my decisions or any candidate decisions will be defective and ineffective for we did not have access to excellent standards, quality control and proper treatment to all populations in our American Dream.

At some point in 2016 it looks like Merchant withdrew from the Presidential race and became Morris' running-mate.

The Morris/Merchant ticket were registered as write-ins in Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Montana, and West Virginia. 10 of their 11 reported votes came from Illinois.

It appears the ticket was headed for the 2020 election as well, with Merchant listed as the VP in 2017 (aka "The Kalo Team") in their promotional material. However, Morris and Merchant seemed to have experienced some sort of disagreement by 2018 as Merchant was definitely running for President on her own, again. In July 2019 Merchant had announced, "I am running for President in the elections for the rest of my life."
