James Anthony Hrivnak, September 3, 1933 (Clairton, Penn.) - May 16, 2010 (Madison, Ala.)
VP candidate for Corrective Action Party (2000)
Running mate with nominee: Bernard Michael Palicki (1931-2014)
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538
The campaign:
Before Sanders there was another Bernie who ran for President-- Bernie Palicki of the Corrective Action Party in the 2000 election.
Palicki's mother was born in Poland, his father in Germany. He left Toldeo, Ohio in 1964 and moved to Huntsville, Ala. where he was a technical administrator for IBM. As early as 1976 he ran in the primaries as a Republican for Congress and at least once announced he was running for the US Senate.
In 2000 Palicki made his run for the Presidency. By this time he was retired as an engineer and was working in the local Home Depot hardware section.
His Corrective Action Party opposed global free trade, federal banking laws, and most of all the alleged "New World Order." Being a technical person, he used Internet as his main venue. "I'm using my candidacy as a vehicle to get ideas across," he said, "But I'm not accepting any money, and I'm not making speeches. I'm strictly on the Internet."
Palicki's running-mate was James A. Hrivnak of Madison, Ala. which means that in the event of their victory there would have been a problem as far as the Constitution was concerned since both candidates were residents of the same state.
The Palicki/Hrivnak ticket garnered zero votes on Election Day.
