Rodney Jay West

Rodney Jay West, October 4, 1955 (Sonoma, Calif.) - May 12, 2013 (Ocala, Fla.?)

VP candidate for Independent (1992)

Running mate with nominee: Blanche Marie Cox (b. ca1942)

Popular vote: ? (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Blanche Cox, who owned a gas station in the town of Carrabelle, Fla., told a columnist, "The people I'm talking to want stronger measures. They are sick of a broken America."

Her platform was hardline conservative-- in favor of more military, drug enforcement, law enforcement. She also supported more programs for schools.

Her running-mate was Rodney J. West (aka "RJ") of Ocala, Fla. They met several months earlier while he was working on some sidewalk construction in Carrabelle.

"Some people think we've lost our marbles," Cox said, "but I think the country is ready for a change."

Running as write-ins, no vote tally was recorded. In the event of a Cox/West victory there would have been a Constitutional problem since they resided in the same state.
