Irvin Lamar Rozier, April 20, 1952 (Jesup, Ga.) -
VP candidate for Independent (2012)
Running mate with nominee: Irvin Lamar Rozier (b. 1952)
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538
The campaign:
Irvin L. Rozier spent much of his career in the Army and retired to Blackshear, Ga. where he engaged in writing, preaching, and developing a persona known as "The Master Poet." He used social media to spread his message.
He announced his campaign for US President in a Youtube video, Mar. 7, 2009 while sitting behind a desk in a farmyard. On the desk was a nameplate, container of coffee, a bottle of cola, a football, WD-40, a lemon, a pecan, a hammer, and a small US flag-- most of them props he used in the course of his announcement. He also sang, danced a bit, and performed an impression of Lyndon Johnson.
In a July 18, 2010 Youtube he indicated he was going to be his own running-mate, as well as also running for the US Senate, US House, and Governorship of "all states."
On his July 30, 2010 blog entry he outlined his platform--
As your president I promise you the following:
Free Bunny
Free Honey
Free Honey Bunny
Free Funny Money
As your president I will “balance” out our government by offering everyone free bunny filters and a million dollars (in Monopoly money that is). So vote for poet! The Master Poet!
By "bunny filters" I believe was making a reference to a Bunn coffee maker.
Since the Constitution mandates that the Vice-President be a resident of a different state than the President, Rozier would not have been able to serve in both offices at the same time if he had won. He made another run for the White House in the 2016 election.
