The campaign:
Rev. Joseph Andrew "Joe" Jensen of Minneapolis filed with the FEC for US President as an Independent on Nov. 29, 2011. He set up a campaign webpage complete with a store. But one does not have to wander too far to realize there is some kind of personal thing with another candidate taking place. Jensen's announcement on his Facebook included--
Additional Information
As many of you know, Dean Morstad my friend/co-worker, is running for President of the United States of America (seriously). As you know, I happen to be a pretty competitive person, which probably explains why I have multiple Guinness World Records under my belt ...
I’m not here to talk about my Guinness World Records (shameless plug, I know). I am here to run against Dean Morstad for President of the United States of America (seriously) ...
During this campaign, I will be using the title “Reverend”, which those kind folks from the internet graciously gave me for my ‘contribution’ of $50. You can keep up with my latest campaign information at the above links. Due to the difficulty involved with state regulations, we will only be on the ballot in a hand full of states (stay tuned MN, we have a petition in the works and will most likely be on the ballot). This will definitely be an interesting year. So, come November 2012, remember to vote for the Reverend Joseph A. Jensen for President of the United States of America. If you choose not to vote for me, please, whatever you do, DON’T VOTE FOR DEAN MORSTAD.
Thanks,
Reverend Joseph A. Jensen
Future President of the United States of America

“A vote for Jensen, is a vote for Freedom.” – Joe Jensen
PS – This is not a joke. We are seriously running…
Morstad had filed with the FEC on the same day as Jensen, also as an Independent. Jensen never got around to telling us why we should not vote for his co-worker. I could not find a reference to Jensen on Morstad's campaign website. The Guinness reference was in regard to the most disc golf holes played in 24 hours (1,035), set in Minnesota in 2010 by Jensen with Dan and Tom Schnabel.
Jensen outlined his mission statement--
At the core of every decision lies a foundational principle upon which that decision was made. To that end the Reverend will be forthright in his principles and open with his application of them.
Ten Things we should agree on:
End corporate bailouts
Eliminate tax loopholes for corporations and individuals
Rising energy and food prices are hurting the poor and middle class
Eliminate waste in government spending
There is a growing divide between rich and poor
End government subsidies for favored industries
Even as we spend more, quality of education is getting worse
Eliminate fraudulent activity in entitlement programs
Special interests have too much influence on our politics
The Federal government today has more power than it did when it was founded
He also was an advocate for states' rights--
The 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The Reverend will start a transfer of responsibiliy and power from the federal government back “to the states, respectively, or to the people,” as the Constitution requires, by working closely with state and local officials and citizens to identify the key areas which can be transferred back first. In James Madison’s writings about the new central government said that it could not “be deemed a national one since its jurisdiction extends to certain enumerated objects only, and leaves to the several states, a residuary and inviolable sovereignty over all other objects.” Basically the framers created a system of separate jurisdictions-known as states-to compete for the governed.
Jensen promoted the Six Sigma method of quality control to government.
The name of Joe Henry, Jensen's VP, does not show up in either the Facebook or campaign webpages, although his name is mentioned in a couple Youtubes generated by standard-bearer. Both Henry and Morstad's names are brought up as if the rest of us know who they are supposed to be.
Registered as write-ins only in Minnesota, the Jensen/Henry ticket were reported to have received zero votes.
