Ricky Allen Hood

Ricky Allen Hood, April 21, 1959 (Moscow, Idaho) -

VP candidate for Independent (aka Non Affiliated) (2012)

Running mate with nominee: Gerald Legarde Warner (b. 1955)
Popular vote: 23 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Gerald Warner of Moscow, Idaho ran for President as write-in with his running-mate [Washington State Trivia Alert!!!] Ricky Allen Hood of Pullman, Wash. Moscow and Pullman, although in different states, are only seven miles apart. Both are university towns situated side by side in the middle of nowhere, or at least close to the middle of nowhere in a sea of wheat. Washington State University has the reputation of being the party school of The Evergreen State and the big draw for many years was that the legal drinking age in Idaho was 18 while in Washington it was 21. How do I know all this? I was once on the faculty as a librarian at WSU about a thousand years ago.

Warner was born in Snoqualmie, Wash. and attended high school in Bellingham. In the construction business, he had moved to Idaho in the early 1970s and was a resident of Moscow at the same time I was working at WSU. Maybe I ran into him or Hood at Gambinos, the Nobby Inn, the Hilltop, or Bookpeople?

Rather than a platform, Warner had a mission statement--

Mission
I believe in the US Constitution and everything it stands for.
I have always been proud to live in this country.
I am a Natural born citizen and can prove it
I am home grown...MADE in America.
I want to be the first Native American to lead this country since the 20th century.
I have always and will continue to be dedicated to improving our country by creating an environment of hope and unity.
I promise to work tirelessly to improve conditions in our country and affect positive change in the world around us.
I will be dedicated to the importance of working together to find solutions.
I will operate lawfully and respectfully in all matters.
I believe in fairness for all.
I promise I will not waiver in the conviction to create a better country for all citizens.
I will work for Positive growth in our country.
I believe in the majority system.
One of my goals is to get more voters to the polls. I believe the smartest people are the educated voters. I would like to see the voters having more say in the decisions where they live.
I do not believe in government voting on their own raises.
I do not believe in politicians having their own retirement.
I do not believe in politicians having any kind of health insurance that is not for every person in this country.
I do not believe in serving in Congress or Senate then retiring and getting that pay for life. Go get a job!!!!!
I believe in term limits for all just like the majority of this country voted for many years ago.
If this country ever shuts down for lack of money....The Congress and Senate DO NOT get paid. Why should they when they are not doing their job we hired them for?
I do not believe in helping another country be free and not sending the bill to them. We should never forgive a loan even if it takes years to get paid back. Freedom has never been FREE!
Many polititions forget that laws are made by the people for the people and all can be changed in the same manner.
I want to use technology in the office so more citizens can be more involved 24/7/365 and then they will feel they have input in the decision process.
I will have my own e-mail <uspresident2012@yahoo.com> open 24/7/365 for citizens to use in their own time to be able to send their concerns and best of all ideas to help make this Country a better place to live and raise our families.
I will have NO earmarks or any other word they want to call this in all voting.
I will be vigilant for smarter spending in all areas, and to eliminate waste in all areas.
We need taxes but we also need spending them for all the people, not for just a few.
I am a conservative Independent.
I am the type of person that when I give my word,  I stand by it no matter what- even if I am the only one standing out in the storm.

Signed this 19th day of March, 2010
