Sonya Sharlet Tabor, September 22, 1971 -
VP candidate for Independent (2016)
Running mate with nominee: Samuel Lewis Tabor (b. 1963)
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538
The campaign:
Samuel Lewis Tabor, who seemed to have been in the construction trade in Mobeetie, Tex. filed with the FEC for President as an Independent on May 15, 2016. This was followed by Sonya Tabor, same address, filing for President as a write-in on June 22, 2016. By the time they registered with Washington State it was Samuel for President/Sonya for VP.
Unfortunately their online campaign webpage has been wiped and no archive of it that I can locate exists, so their political platform remains a mystery.
Other married couples who ran as a ticket include Marvin Edward Perkins/Dorothy Louise Perkins - Independent (1980), Henry R. King/Sandra M. King - Independent (1984, 1988, 1992), David C. Byrne/Karen Byrne - Common Citizens of the United States of America (2000), Stanford Eugene Andress/Irene Altahelle Markley Deasy - Unaffiliated (2004), Debra Joyce Renderos/Oscar Renderos Castillo - Independent (2004), Oscar R. Renderos/Debra Joyce Renderos - Independent (2008), Debra Joyce Renderos/Oscar R. Renderos - Independent (2008), Christopher Michael Padgett/Linda Aileen Padgett - Independent (2012), Louis Todd House/Suzanne Marie Dudgeon House - Independent (2012), Zoltan Istvan Gyurko/Lisa Marie Memmel - Transhumanist Party (2016), Khadijah Maryam Jacob-Fambro/Milton Lewis Fambro III - Loyal Trustworthy Compassion Party (2016), Jennifer Joy Vogel-Walcutt/Christopher Barrett Walcutt - Non Affiliated (2016), and Janet Louise Reid/John Ellis Reid - Independent Republican (2016).
The Tabors were registered as write-ins in Washington State, which is a jurisdiction that is not only unfriendly to third parties (e.g. top two primary system), but will not report the individual vote tallies of write-ins, even ones that are officially recognized. They filed in Florida but were removed. It seems Sonya was also attempting to register as a write-in for President in Texas.
To make matters murkier, Washington apparently listed VP Sonya as "Sondra" on the Secretary of State's webpage.
Since both candidates resided in the same state, that would have posed a potential problem per the Constitution in the event of their victory.
Election history:
2016 - US President (Write-In) - defeated
Other occupations: secretary
Notes:
Washington State trivia alert!!! It appears the Tabors had some connection to Forks, Wash. shortly after the 2016 election.
