The campaign:
Jeff Gallo, a high school junior from Orange, Conn. filed as an Independent for President with the FEC on Sept. 4, 2015. The next day he released his brief campaign announcement on Youtube--
My fellow Americans, as so you may know I, Jeff Gallo, am officially running for the President of the United States in the 2016 elections. I know some of you are probably wondering, "Don't you have to be a certain age to be President of the United States?" And that is correct, you do have to be 35 years old. However there is no restriction on how old you have to be to run for President. Within this video I'd also like to announce my Vice-Presidential nominee, Mr. Ryan Rattley. He is highly qualified for the position. Within this video I'm not going to be talking about my political stances or views, as those are going to be on our website shortly. This video is merely to announce my candidacy. I hope all of you have a great long weekend and as always vote Gallo and may God bless America.
Rattley, of Woodbridge, Conn., appeared to have a been a classmate with Gallo at Amity High School during the 2016 election cycle.
The Gallo platform was presented on his electioneering website--
Political views are the most important thing when considering to be a candidate. Below are my views on the most important topics being debated.
Abortion: Women have the right to choose. Gallo 2016 is Pro-Choice.
Gun control: Many people are concerned about gun control due to recent events. We as Americans have the right to bear arms. However not having any regulation can lead to weapons being in the hands of criminals. We do not want to ban guns; we do however support background checks and a wait time to get your gun license. This will lead to fewer chances of guns falling into the wrong hands. Gallo 2016 wants America to have its freedoms but also wants to keep it safe.
Immigration: Immigrants are an essential part of makes America, America. As a country founded and grown by immigrants we must make sure to not let illegal immigration effect legal immigration. Immigrants are essential to America and we must fix the current broken immigration system. Gallo 2016 supports a path to citizenship for the young illegal immigrants.
Same Sex Marriage: Everyone no matter what his or her sexual preference should be able to great married. Although the Supreme Court case has made this the law, they have still not taken steps to enforcing it. Right now a gay couple can get married and then get fired the next day from their job for doing so. Gays have the right to be part of the 14th amendment, which will enforce their rights as equal citizens. Gallo 2016 supports not only gay marriage but also enforcing gay equality in all places.
Taxes: As our platform is equality, we want to provide a support system for the impoverished while also reducing the taxes on the middle and upper middle classes. How will we do this? By implementing better career searches for the unemployed. We have become globalized in recent years but we need to understand that charity begins at home, thus, Gallo 2016 will cut back on the outsourcing of jobs and solve the economic disparity present here at home.
In a local Fox News piece during the same week as the Gallo/Rattley ticket launch, Gallo told the reporter, "There's been a couple of joke candidates on the Internet this past year and I thought like, one of them was 15, and I thought to myself, 'If they can do it, why can't I?' But take it a little more seriously and see what can happen ... Our basic platform is essentially equality, pretty much just want everyone in the United States to be treated equal ... Our slogan is 'We Can Win,' though technically we're not able to take office but it is more of a morale type of thing. It's pretty fun so far and we're going to take it pretty far, I think."
Rattley contributed, "There's been a drop in the number of young people voting. Having other young people so involved and so interested could inspire more people to be interested in this ... We're running as Independents so we're not going to be at any big rallies or anything for Democrats or Republicans. We're just doing this on our own and we're doing pretty good, I think."
Rattley's Twitter account added some fast observations in the first two days of campaigning worth mentioning--
Sept. 5, 2015
Vote Jeff Gallo in the upcoming 2016 election. We can't win but we can win!
Sept. 6, 2015
If you hate presidents, vote Gallo that way we technically won't have one.
If you don't vote for us that's ok, just don't vote Trump
Jeff Gallo's hair doesn't look like someone swept up the hair of a golden retriever and put it on his head.
Jeff Gallo won't insult you and then announce that your people love him.
Jeff Gallo has NEVER admitted that he would date his daughter if he could.
No one shouts "White power" at Jeff Gallo's political events.
Jeff Gallo has never paid any other presidential candidate to support his views
Vote for us, we have no intention of doing anything
Jeff Gallo will not allow any innocent Americans to fall into the toilet. Not on his watch.
Gallo announced his cabinet which seemed to consist entirely of other high school classmates. He also quickly gained a security team who acquired their own Twitter account and a subdivision on the campaign website--

It is our uppermost responsibility to protect our Presidential Candidate as he rises in popularity. Sadly, it is common these days for high profile public figures to receive threats. We take every single threat seriously and will take every pre-caution to make sure our client is safe. All threats will be reported to the Local, State, and Federal officials.
"We can win"
Within a month of the Presidential announcement Gallo for President t-shirts were available for ten bucks a shot.
The Gallo/Rattley campaign looks like it burned out before Oct. 2015 was over, although after nearly a year of silence regarding the election the Gallo 2016 Twitter page wrote on Sept. 26, 2016, "I want to remind you all. I'm still running for #potus."
Election history: none
Other occupations: student, lacrosse player, communications major
Notes:
Rattley later graduated Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Media & Professional Communications.
Looks like he was registered to vote in Connecticut as a Democrat.
