Steve Richardson

Steve Richardson

VP candidate for Independent (2008)

Running mate with nominee: Bill T. Antichrist
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Starting on Mar. 3, 2008 a series of videos on Youtube promoted the Presidential campaign of Bill T. Antichrist. The candidate looked like most other WASP males running for office, well groomed with a suit and tie. The ads were couched in the kind of traditional music and camera shots we have grown accustomed to in political marketing. But the spoken content was a bit different--

Who is Bill T. Antichrist?
"I'm just a man. Just a man running for President. Just a man who happens to be the son of the Devil."

What does he stand for?
"What do you stand for? Because that's what I stand for too. Really? Does it matter? [breaks into a cynical chuckle]"

What is Bill T. Antichrist's stance on Abortion?
"Mandatory."

His selection of a running-mate was one of the more original methods I have run across, as demonstrated in this transcript from Sept. 8, 2008--

Who will Bill T. Antichrist choose as a running-mate?
Bill T. Antichrist: [Looks at cameraman Steve Richardson] Uh, what are you doin'? What are you doin' later?
Steve Richardson: Nothing.
BTA: You wanna, wanna be my running-mate?
SR: Sure.
BTA: You. Come here. Get. Get. Camera guy get your ass over here. [shakes hands] What's your name?
SR: I'm Steve Richardson.
BTA: Sit down. I don't give a f**k.
SR: Steve Richardson.
BTA: Steve Richards. Look right there [points to camera]
SR: Hi.
BTA: Go Steve! Antichrist and [looks at Richardson] Rich Robertson?
SR: Richardson.
BTA: Richardson.
SR: Richardson.
BTA: OK, look in the camera.
[both give a thumbs up]
BTA: 08!
SR: I'm gonna turn it off now.
BTA: You go for it. [to another off camera person] Was that guy Jewish?

The videos were produced by an online comedy group called The Monkey Box who were active on Youtube 2007-2012.

Some potential problems had the Antichrist/Richardson ticket emerged victorious on Election Day: They both were residents of the same state (California), Bill T. Antichrist was a fictitious character, and Richardson looked like he possibly was under the Constitutionally mandated age of 35 in order to hold the office he sought.

Election history: none

Other occupations: cinematographer

Notes:
Bill T. Antichrist was probably portrayed by actor Chris Valenti.
