The campaign:
Jeremy Scroggie of Nashville, better known as JW, filed as an Independent with the FEC for President on May 11, 2015. Not all of the candidate's online electioneering presence has survived, but I have found enough to get an idea of his mission. Much of his energy went into touring the country in a 1994 Toyota Itasca camper and he documented his journey with copious videos on Youtube.
His "Everybody is President" website gave the reader this introduction--
Good-day America
This is J.W. Scroggie and I'm running for President!
I'm aware this might sound out of the ordinary; a normal American Citizen stepping up to the task of the President of the United States of America. The task may sound impossible, I've been told "You won't even get on the ballot, you'll need millions of dollars, the news won't cover you!" These are all real doubts we face in this campaign and as true as they may seem, here at Scroggie16 we look forward to them and accept the challenges ahead.
We are preparing a campaign unlike any other, a campaign that doesn't need millions of dollars to operate, a campaign that doesn't target other opponents in expensive commercial smear commercials, a campaign that stands up to the two party System that currently runs office! We will we WIN this Presidential race by the power of the people, this campaign will thrive and grow with the love of the each American. Meet Jw Scroggie, Independent candidate for the 2016 US Presidential election. Google searches for “third party candidate” or “independent” have reached their highest ever levels, according to iQuanti, a digital marketing company. And Jeremy Waylon Scroggie is just the ticket they're looking for!
JW Scroggie started campaigning almost 3 years ago, via daily YouTube video blogs, reaching out to connect with the American public in a casual down to earth format. As a subscriber to the Scroggie16 YouTube channel one can see his progression from a young 33 year old concerned citizen, to a committed US Presidential candidate registered with the FEC and running a "Write-in" campaign.
Although he may have started off a little rough around the edges, his message has always been completely transparent when it comes to his valid concerns for the state of our nation. His campaign is like no other in many aspects. He is calling for unification, a collective of like minded citizens to join him in his Presidential ambitions, and work along side him sharing ideas, hopes and dreams to heal our broken nation.
His tactics may seem unconventional to most, as he travels from state to state on his Capital City Tour. He drives a motor home fondly referred too as "The First Lady", that has been painted, decorated, and written on by his supporters along the way. So far he has managed to visit 26 capitals of his 48 state goal.
While at each capital he stands proudly on his classic Americana style soapbox, to deliver his message to any and all who will listen. Although he doesn't draw crowds by the thousands, his platform message is solid. He speaks about realistic goals for real change.
Scroggie knows there is more than one way to deliver a message, and enjoys using art and music, as well as bold straight talk. He has plans to record and release an original rap song to be distributed to college radio stations across the country late this summer. His goal is to reach thousands of the younger voters close to election day.
JW Scroggie for President may seem like a David against a Goliath scenario, but he is up for the task, and putting out the call for citizens to join him, by boycotting the 2 party system and writing in their next President Elect!
The Time is Now ~ The Change is You!
Although Scroggie toyed with the idea of asking comedian Jon Stewart to be his running-mate, it would appear his VP choice settled on Terri Sutton. She served as Scroggie's publicist, a "freelance writer and editor for J.w. Scroggie U.S. Presidential candidate." Sutton joined the Capital City Tour for a month, July-Aug. 2016 and appeared in Scroggie's prolific Youtube chronicle of the campaign.
Sutton, apparently based in Oregon, seems to have polemic political views coming from the extreme Right if her Facebook is any indicator. It is also rich in conspiracy theories especially regarding the "New World Order" and provides links to Fox talking heads, Newsmax, etc.
At some point late in the electioneering, Scroggie was joined by a gentleman with a pet goat. Both would assist the candidate during public addresses.
Scroggie was not listed on any ballots and finding a complete tally of his write-in votes would be a challenge.
