Daniel Edward Olkowski, January 5, 1962 -

VP candidate for Independent (aka Non Affiliated) (2016)

Running mate with nominee: Michael Shawn Olkowski (b. 1957)
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Michael Olkowski of Hickory Corners, Mich. and his brother Daniel of Kalamazoo ran as a Presidential write-in ticket in 2016.

Other brother tickets have included: Larry Brant Sargeant/Perry David Sargeant - American Freedom Party (1976), Lowell Jackson Fellure/James Monroe Fellure - Independent (2000), Diddley Squat V/Bupkes - Hamster Party (2004), Keith Russell Judd/Monty Wayne Judd - Nonpartisan (2008), Randal Gene Trackwell/Byron Lee Trackwell - Bullmoose Progressive Party (2008), Theodore Cleaver/Wallace Cleaver - Give America the Business Party (2008), Diddley Squat/Squit Squat - Hamster Party (2012), Robert John Burck/Kenneth Robert Burck Jr. - Tea Party (2012), Richard Skeen McCormick/Stephen Albert McCormick - KIS Party (2012), Jerry D. Litzel/Jim J. Litzel (twins) - Independent (2012), and Kevin M. Thorne/Colin Henry Thorne (twins) - Independent (2012).

Olkowski issued a series of 5 short campaign presentations on Youtube Aug./Sept. 2016, all of them introduced with the candidate in firefighter garb and holding a gushing waterhose as he says, "Folks, America's on fire and I'm the one manning the firehose, pumping the will of the American people back into Washington, D.C." The former metal worker and current trucker spoke in generalities with a theme of smaller and less intrusive but more responsive government.

The Olkowski/Olkowski ticket were registered as write-ins in at least half a dozen states but no votes were reported. Since they were both residents of Michigan, the Olkowski brothers might have had a potential Constitutional barrier to assuming office in the event of their victory.
