Michelle Kaye Hicks, June 7, 1974 -

VP candidate for Independent (aka Independent Democrat) (2016)

Running mate with nominee: Denny Carroll Jackson (b. 1952)
Popular vote: 139 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Denny Carroll Jackson, the Mayor of Milton, Ky., filed with the FEC in Dec. 2015 for US President running as a Democrat. Eventually he also had an Independent designation and gained a running-mate, Michelle Kaye Hicks just across the state line in Vevay, Ind.

Jackson, who described himself as a moderate Reagan Democrat, was a high school teacher and thought his entry into the Presidential race would provide a civics lesson for his students. He told a reporter, "My students asked, 'Why don't you run for President?' I thought I'd do it for kicks and giggles." Hicks was a teacher at the same school.

The Jackson/Hicks ticket were registered write-ins in three states: Indiana 121 votes, Kentucky 18 votes, and Washington (does not report write-in totals). Jackson's campaign Facebook page was updated to indicate he was also running in 2020, but no VP was mentioned.

Other occupations: attorney, teacher

Notes:
Hicks is registered as a Democrat.
