Shaun Reynard Richardson

Shaun Reynard Richardson, 197-? (New Orleans, La.) -

VP candidate for Independent (aka Constitution Party aka Libertarian Party aka Independent Republican) (2016)

Running mate with nominee: Donald Eugene Lowe (b. 1979)
Popular vote: ? (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Donald Lowe's 2016 campaign webpage described the hopeful as an "Independent, write-in, Constitution, Libertarian, Republican Alternate, Presidential Candidate." He was based in San Angelo, Tex. and seems to have been in the trucking occupation. He filed with the FEC on Apr. 5, 2015 as an Independent. A year later he refiled as a Libertarian and a month after that as a Republican. He indicated on Twitter he was also seeking the Constitution Party nomination.

Lowe provided a hard luck autobiography on the campaign website--

A little bit about me.

Born poor, raised on welfare. No father he a low life.

Grandparents helped raise me. My mother is both physical and mental disabled but she did well raising me. I have 2 brothers and one sister.

One brother and sister are black and white mix.

That brother was shoot and killed as a baby from a drive by shooting. They were after my low life father over drugs.

My other brother died about age year and half old but we got him back.

I was in jail before for writing bad checks for feeding a family and putting a roof over them. I never said I was the greatest candidate but I am just like many of you, one who does what it takes to get the job done. Sometimes we all make bad choices and we have to live with that.

I was married to a woman who divorced me cause I am bisexual and have been all my life. She got tired of sharing me. I know it not right to cheat on the person you married to but I did. I grew up doing groups and live shows and I told her I will not change and I will keep doing what I have been doing. She said she could handle that but I think she was fooling herself. I do not discriminate when it comes to committing adultery, man or woman, white, black, or somewhere in between cause I not there for anything else other than fun I should not be doing.

Now days I am turning my life to God and turning away from an extremely sinful life I once lived.

Thank you Jesus for not giving up on me.

I have a daughter she was born in 1991. I was born in 1979.

Not even knowing she was born the mother moved out of state had the baby and gave it up.

I got to see a photo of her when the mother came back so beautiful baby girl. I am one who will support adoption without question.

I have worked for about 60 companies through out the states getting ready for the hardest job I am going for.

I worked in 48 states as well.

I own a few companies as well not public trade.

Wetric Customs

Wetric Energy Technologies

(worth $73.419 billion If I sold it)

The U.S. Government Army Core of Engineers met with me.

$5 billion in 2005 is what I was worth. Any deal that could be fell through because Hurricane Katrina came to visit the USA in 2005.

In 2003 General Motors the auto maker offered $3 million in 2003. I said I don't think we in right category yet, they said "the check starts at $3 million."

In 2000 I started the invention process. 2003 General Motors. 2005 I built it with maxing out the credit cards and only one single dime to my name. ( I had to laugh at that one dime.) I took what I built to the U.S. Army Core and they wanted it bad. As things just started to happen that storm blew in and no deal for me. It's ok because since then I was able to find ways to power just about anything on earth and even space machines as well.

Health Technologies

(worth $50 billion if I sell. I have started talking to large companies world wide about making a deal.)

Wetric L.L.C.

Wetric Nonprofit.

On Health Technologies I took my energy system and other technology and came up with a device the can replace or assist the functions of the Human kidneys and liver.

A side note. I came up with a formula (process) to beat incurable cancers. (Could be worth $100 billion.)The way this works on some types of cancer that have no cure my formula should cure the person. It's a last chance use. The treatment for cancer now is hard but this you will have wished you were dead. I not joking. But if you can live through it you be happy you did.

I am hoping to start human trails within about 7 years. Lot's of thing have to happen before they let human trails begin.

My energy, health, and science research are all self funded by me. Never took a penny to make any of it.

Cash wise I have none. I will not let myself become indulged of earthly things. I rather live my life for the work of God than to have any earthly things.

It not easy to live like that. I do not even like to buy nice clothes. I have to have someone else use their credit card to buy me nice things and I pay them back or I return everything I not need. I can go buy a $1,000 worth of clothes at store then within a week I am taking almost all of it back. I think of people who need me more than myself. I have bought clothes for others, houses, cars , trucks and even suvs'. Helping others is rewarding helping myself feels terrible. Yes I know don't sound right but it how I am.

A friend of mine made a point when I told her I want to buy a car, she said why would you buy a car that your only going to give away anyways? My dream car is a 1979 Lincoln 4 door. Cause I do give almost everything away is why I have not bought one.

So are you ready for a President who looks out for you?

IF so VOTE Donald Eugene Lowe in the November 2016 General Election.

Age 7 I dreamed of becoming President of the United States and now I am running for office. I must be nuts to try but what if I make it?

In God we trust. In Jesus name. Amen

Lowe's platform included--

-Unique take on gun control: "The States and the Federal Government have every right and even law to limit buying the bullets for your fire arms. You have the right to bear arms yes you do. Arms is a gun, a knife, and other means to defend yourself.  Bullets are not fire arms no matter what you think a bullet or a ball of metal is not a fire arm. Do I have your attention now? We the people can put any laws or rules about buying projectiles/bullets as we want and never violate Our Constitution of United States. The cost per bullet goes up, age and back grounds check can be done, limited bullets per person, limit bullets by state, even a drug test can be done just to buy a bullet if we like. We can also not sale bullets for some guns because we determine the gun it fits in would be unsafe to use in public. Now we the law makers can and will control guns based on the bullets/projectiles coming out of them. You still have the right bear arms but you may be hard to find the bullets to fire it. ( I sound like a mean prick,,,, but truth hurts.) The Constitution says nothing about projectiles for your fire arms."
-Against capital punishment
-Abolish the IRS. Replace income tax with national sales tax.
-Abolish the EPA.
-Merge the FBI and CIA.
-A libertarian position on abortion.
-Repeal Obamacare.
-Does not support same sex marriage.

On Mar. 16, 2016, Lowe wrote in Twitter: "My campaign for President is not for me. It is for the Will of God and what he wants for you."

Lowe's running-mate was described in the campaign webpage--

Mr. Vice President Shaun R. Richardson was born in New Orleans, LA and served in the U.S. Army for 7 years. He has been deployed at least in Iraq, Turkey, Kosovo, Poland. Hungary to name a few places as he severed in the Army. He has 3 achievement Medals.

With rank of Sergeant and a Bachelors of Arts in retail management and 4 beautiful children and a wife to be, he is an honorable, great man to help me lead this country from the dark places of bad leadership and brighter tomorrow to come.

Thank you Shaun for keeping America free and the still the greatest country on Earth.

I cannot find any reported votes for the Lowe/Richardson ticket.

On Nov. 22, 2016 Lowe issued a press release where among other things he said, "I know many will be confused by this, but it's true. It's still possible to stop President-Elect Trump from taking office. We both share the Republican presidential electors and this means that the Electoral College could still pick me ... When the other candidates withdrew, I announced I was running under the Republican Party. Next, I announced that I was challenging President-Elect Donald Trump and then I said I was skipping the general election and pushing onwards to the Electoral College ... I know almost everyone will be confused because I am doing something that's never been done before, but it could work." Joseph A. Glean had a similar concept when he ran in 2012.

In June 2017 Lowe filed with the FEC as a Republican candidate for President in the 2020 election. He refiled as a Libertarian in Oct. 2017 and then as a Democrat in Sept. 2018.

Robert E. Thornsberry

Robert E. Thornsberry, October 7, 1956 (St. Mary, Ohio) -

VP candidate for Constitution Party (2008)

Running mate with nominee: Charles Obadiah Baldwin (b. 1952)
Popular vote: 4,694 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Chuck Baldwin, the 2004 Constitution Party VP nominee, had told journalists that is was up to God whether or not he would run for President in 2008. In 2006 Baldwin told the Conservative President 2008 website, "In order for me to even consider running in 2008 would require several 'miraculous' signs of reassurance that, frankly, I cannot see happening. However, I am always open to God's will." As late as Mar. 25, 2008, Baldwin told The Miller Report, "I am very honored that anyone would suggest that I should be considered as the CP presidential candidate. There are many great people in our party that, in my opinion, are much more qualified than I am. I have always tried to be open to God's will. At this time, however, I have no inclination that this is God's will for me." In late 2007 Baldwin endorsed Ron Paul for the Republican Presidential nomination.

But God must have given him the sign in short order since Baldwin jumped into the race for the CP nomination on Apr. 10, 2008 right before the convention. Other contenders included "Mad Max" Riekse but it was the threat of Alan Keyes grabbing the prize that may have inspired Baldwin to run. Keyes, who had only recently left the Republican Party after continually failing to achieve elected office, was considered acceptably conservative on social and domestic issues but a total pro-war Neocon in terms of foreign policy. Baldwin handily won the nomination and selected Tennessee attorney Darrell Castle as his running-mate.

A major loss for the Constitution Party was in California. In that state the American Independent Party had been an affiliate of the CP since the early 1990s, but in 2008 the AIP split over Baldwin and Keyes. The California Secretary of State and subsequently the court backed Keyes, and Baldwin was forced to run as a write-in in the Golden State.

The CP had a few other stray ends in 2008. The Constitution Party of Montana, like several other state chapters across the nation at the time, had disaffiliated with the national party in 2006. It seems many state groups did not agree with factions of the national Party that abortion was acceptable in cases of rape, incest, or saving the life of the mother. Also in that same year they elected their first member to the Montana State House of Representatives. Meanwhile, across the country in Maryland, another state where the local Constitution Party took a walk, 2004 Constitution Party Presidential nominee Michael Peroutka jumped ship and considered himself part of the American Heritage Party.

Rather than support Chuck Baldwin, the official Constitution Party nominee in 2008, the Montana group on Sept. 5 filed the names of Ron Paul and Michael Peroutka as their ticket of choice. State Party Chair Jonathan Martin told the press, "Ron Paul did not seek it, but he did not oppose it. He allowed it." Ballot Access News reported, "Ron Paul was aware that the party planned to do this, and has said that as long as he can remain passive and silent about the development, and as long as he need not sign any declaration of candidacy, that he does not object."

It seems Rep. Paul had a change of heart and wrote in a letter dated Sept. 10 to the Montana Secretary of State, "It has come to my attention that I was nominated by the Constitution Party of Montana as its presidential nominee. While I certainly appreciate the Constitution Party of Montana’s nomination, and all the hard work of its members, I am writing to respectfully request that you remove my name from the ballot in Montana as I did not seek nor consent to this nomination." Paul's request was denied on Sept. 15 on the grounds he acted too late. Paul/Peoutka won 2.17% of the vote in Montana. Paul himself endorsed Baldwin.

Peroutka had also won write-in votes for President in Georgia, and Castle the same in Indiana.

In Kentucky, Baldwin's running mate was Robert E. Thornsberry. Thornsberry had earlier supported Ron Paul in the Republican primaries and contributed this comment in an online Paul tribute--

I’m 51, married with two kids. I’m a librarian, my wife is an RN, my daughter is a freshman in college, and my son is in the fifth grade. We are Orthodox Christians and strongly pro life.

I’ve been a libertarian/consevative since 1980 and voted for Dr. Paul in 1988. My wife and daughter are also planning on voting for him this year.

On the Baldwin campaign website, every policy essay began with a quote from the candidate. Here are a few to act as a summation--

The Education of Young Americans
"If I were President, I would disband the Department of Education."

The Second Amendment Protects Our Liberty
"To help keep your family safe and your country free, go buy a gun."

A Free And Sovereign Republic, Not A World Empire!
"We will stop this international meddling...this international empire building. When Chuck Baldwin is sworn in as President of these United States the 'New World Order' comes crashing down!"

Freedom Of Choice In Health Care
"I strongly support the freedom of choice of practitioner and treatment for all citizens for their health care"

There Is Still Hope For America
"I am personally convinced that, as we get out our message is received by the people of America we will find a ready audience for our message of freedom and hope!"

A Strong National Defense For America
"We will have a national defense that is second to none, with armed forces that serve only under our flag, whose mission is to defend these United States of America!"

Personal Freedom In America
"Free people do not have to check in with government officials and show them their papers--that doesn't work in these United States of America!"

Preserving An Independent American Nation
"The globalists, with their ideas of a common currency here in the United State with a North American Union and a NAFTA Superhighway are after our sovereignty, our freedom and our national independence."

The Sanctity of Life
"I will use the bully pulpit of the Presidency to demand that Congress enact Dr. Ron Paul's Sanctity of Life Act which would set forth that every unborn child is a 'person' under the Constitution, entitled to equal protection of the law and therefore, no unborn child could be killed without due process of law."

The United Nations Will Have To Find A New Address!
"When I am President of these United States all funding for the United Nations stops!"

Baldwin's dislike for the Republican Party seemed to be even more passionate than his views on the Democratic Party. Some Baldwin quotes from different sources in 2008 campaign--

Republicans tout themselves as being “pro-life.” Yet, the GOP controlled both houses of Congress and the White House for six years and did absolutely nothing to overturn Roe or end abortion-on-demand. Under my administration, we could end legal abortion in a matter of days, not decades. And if Congress refused to pass Ron Paul’s bill, I would use the constitutional power of the Presidency to deny funds to protect abortion clinics. Either way, legalized abortion ends when I take office.

There is absolutely no reason for us to be dependent upon OPEC. There is enough gas and oil under the soil of Alaska (not to mention the Dakotas and the Gulf of Mexico) to meet the energy needs of the United States for the next 150-200 years. There is also no reason that gas should cost more than $1.50 a gallon (which is about what it was before Bush became President) ... We must begin drilling for the domestic oil that we know exists; we must build more refineries and nuclear power plants.

As President, I would end foreign aid. I would also end the current infatuation with nation-building, empire-building, and interventionism. America is not the world’s policeman. Neither are our military personnel the personal militia of the United Nations ... Remember that President Bush told the U.N. in 2003 that the reason we invaded Iraq was for the purpose of securing the “peace and credibility of the United Nations.” (I lie not; that is what he said.)

The Democrats basically want the illegals to continue to come across the border at will for the sake of getting votes. The Republicans, on the other hand, want the borders to remain open for the purpose of being able to obtain cheap labor. Regardless of the reason, neither major party has any desire to secure our borders.
Source: Charles Geraci in The Herald Journal, Cache Valley, Utah , Jul 5, 2008

Not only does the Bush administration not secure our borders and ports, it wants to provide a “path to citizenship” for illegal aliens. It allows tax dollars to be used to pay for illegal aliens’ education, social services, and medical care. It offers birthright citizenship for illegal aliens. And it prosecutes and imprisons Border Patrol agents for shooting (but not seriously enough to prevent his escape back into Mexico) a known illegal alien and drug trafficker.

No wonder the flood of illegal aliens has skyrocketed since George W. Bush became President. And is there anyone who does not understand that a John McCain Presidency will be more of the McSame? A McCain White House promises continued open borders and ports. Plus, McCain will also push forward with his plans to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. When it comes to illegal immigration, amnesty, etc., there will be no relief from an Obama White House. Both Barack Obama and John McCain are pro-open borders, pro-amnesty twins.

Basically, the only difference between the Republicans and the Democrats today is that the Democrats want to tax and spend, and the Republicans want to borrow and spend. But both of them want to spend. They spend like drunken sailors, except that’s an insult to sailors because at least sailors are spending their own money.

Secret ‘suspicious activity reports’ filed by financial institutions and reviewed by teams of agents spread around the country. The American people are largely unaware that they are now living in a universal surveillance society. Virtually every major financial transaction--as well as much of their travel--is reported and monitored by the federal government. This total surveillance system, that began in earnest under Bill Clinton’s administration, has mushroomed into a ubiquitous and finely tuned science under George W. Bush. Dare I say that Dubya’s neurotic fixation with spying on ordinary citizens rivals Comrade Stalin’s paranoiac obsession with a total surveillance society?

You and I are constantly being watched, listened to, monitored, taped, and stalked by our own government. So, do any of us really believe that we still live in a free country? A Chuck Baldwin Administration will bring an immediate end to the surveillance state.

I opposed the preemptive invasion of Iraq, and I continue to oppose the occupation of that country. I believe the Bush administration was untruthful about the motivations for going to war with Iraq and continues to deceive the American people to this very day.

Baldwin/Thornsberry placed 5th in Kentucky with 0.26% of the vote in the Bluegrass State.

Election history:
2010 - Kentucky House of Representatives (Constitution Party) - defeated

Other occupations: law librarian at Eastern Kentucky State University, science fiction author

Notes:
Enjoys Civil War reenactment.
Along with Jason Matthew Coleman, an Independent in Kansas, was the second librarian third party VP in 2008.
Trivia - The University of Kentucky, where Thornsberry gained his library degree, was well known for being one the very best schools for catalogers at the time he attended. I actually applied and was accepted there a few years before he was enrolled, but decided to sign up with the University of Washington instead.

Baldwin/Castle placed third in Utah with 1.26%. They were in 4th in Idaho (0.72%), Alaska (0.51%), South Dakota (0.50%), Oregon (0.42%), Nebraska (0.37%), West Virginia (0.35%), and Mississippi (0.20%). They were in 5th place nationally, on the ballot in 37 states where they were one of only six tickets with the theoretical potential of gaining enough Electoral votes to win. Baldwin was also a write-in in the remaining states except for Oklahoma, North Carolina + the District of Columbia. In spite of losing the California ballot placement, 2008 was their highest national popular vote up to that time, and their second highest percentage.

Darrell Castle would be the Constitution Party Presidential nominee in 2016.

Marvin Earl Sprouse Jr.

Marvin Earl Sprouse Jr., May 3, 1941 (Alabama) -

VP candidate for America's Independent Party (2008)

Running mate with nominee: Alan Lee Keyes (b. 1950)
Popular vote: 883 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

As an African American Republican Christian Conservative, Alan Keyes was something of an anomaly on the political landscape. Sometimes referred to as a "Theocratic Neocon," the Harvard-educated Dr. Keyes had served as a diplomat in various capacities starting in 1979. In the Reagan years he was Ambassador to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and later Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs from 1985 to 1987. He was subsequently known as former Ambassador Keyes in the media.

By 2008 he had also become known as a perennial candidate. He had made three attempts for the US Senate, 1988, 1992, and 2004 (losing to Obama in that last one), and for US President in the Republican primaries 1996 and 2000. 2008 was his third try.

When Keyes' Republican prospects evaporated he announced on Apr. 15, 2008 he was switching parties and was now a candidate for the Constitution Party Presidential nomination. He said, "I believe people deserve a choice. They certainly deserve a conservative choice — something neither John McCain, Hillary Clinton, nor Barack Obama can offer voters. All they can offer is empty promises based on liberal track records." Constitution Party stalwarts were wary of Keyes' late conversion. He certainly had the evangelical Christian credentials but also a Neocon foreign policy track record was out of step with them. Besides, 2004 VP nominee Chuck Baldwin was already on track to gain the nomination.

Although Baldwin did win the national CP nomination, the American Independent Party which had been affiliate since 1991 was torn apart over the selection. The pro-Constitution Party faction nominated Baldwin, and the anti-Constitution Party faction nominated Keyes. Both held their own conventions regarding the other as an invalid gathering. The California Secretary of State and later the court sided with the Keyes faction and thus the era of the AIP's association with the CP came to an end. Instead, the AIP became an affiliate of the newly invented America's Independent Party which also nominated Keyes. By the time the dust settled it was really too late for Baldwin to gain access to the printed ballot in California but he did register as a write-in.

This chapter of AIP history was interpreted by the victors on their webpage--

History repeated itself after the death of our revered founder, William Shearer in early 2007. Once again outside forces sought to determine the AIP's future, but this time it was the Constitution Party that sought to dominate the American Independent Party of California through surrogates, a misguided rump faction that came to be known as "The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight." Defeating this assault on the independence of the AIP also took three long and costly years from 2008 to 2011. After illegitimate attempts to eject Edward Noonan from the Chairmanship by the daughter of the late founder William Shearer failed, the rump faction she led sought aid from the founder of the Constitution Party, Howard Phillips, to deny the American Independent Party its rightful voice at the Presidential nominating Convention in 2008 by a series of dastardly tricks. After successfully maintaining its right to vote on the Presidential nomination, the AIP was subjected to a further attack when the rump group held its own "Convention" and elected its own officers, entirely without authorization and contrary to both AIP Bylaws and the California Election Code. A legal battle for control of the Party ensued, which was finally resolved in favor of the legitimate party leadership on August 29, 2011.

The curious fact the party of segregationist George Wallace now had an African American standard bearer was not lost on politicos of all stripes.

The Keyes faction of the AIP was viewed as "pro-war" within the ranks of critics on the Right. The platform of America's Independent Party was pretty much the same as the American Independent Party of years past, except perhaps for the America's military plank--

Peace through Strength
We believe in a supremely strong, prepared, and well-equipped civilian-controlled United States military, and a bold, visionary and intelligent program of principled constructive engagement with the rest of the world. For us, "peace through strength" is not a mere slogan. It is the means of survival for our country in a very dangerous and often hostile world. Our friendship should be a sought-after possession of all men and women of good will everywhere in the world. Our enmity should be something that all rightfully fear.

As Ronald Reagan opposed and defeated the designs and desire of the Soviet Union to dominate the world and place it under the tyranny of their Evil Empire, we stand unalterably opposed to all who approve of, plan or commit terrorist acts. Since the first principle of America is the protection of innocent human life, any who would use acts of terrorism targeted at innocent civilians to forward their political, ideological or religious aims incur our effective and determined enmity.

Keye's running-mate in Texas was Dr. Marvin E. Sprouse Jr. who was a conservative Christian author and TV/radio host. Just prior to the election Sprouse had been caught up in the Bio Performance fuel additive MLM/pyramid scheme hoax/scam before the State of Texas shut it down.

Keyes national vote was 47,941 (0.04%). 883 (0.00%) of those came from the write-in ticket with Sprouse, accounting for 0.01% of the vote in Texas. Keyes' other VPs were Wiley Drake in California, Brian Rohrbough the official America's Independent Party VP nationally, and Steve Schulin in Virginia. Write-in votes for Keyes were reported in 12 more states where no running-mate was included.

Keyes' official VP in America's Independent Party was Brian Rohrbough, who became an involuntary public figure starting with his son being one of the victims of the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. In an effort to make sense of a senseless act, Rohrbough settled on blaming what he calls our "culture of death." This included--

Abortion: "We teach there are no absolutes, no right or wrong. And I assure you the murder of innocent children is always wrong, including by abortion. Abortion has diminished the value of children."

The theory of evolution: "This country is in a moral free-fall. For over two generations, the public school system has taught in a moral vacuum, expelling God from the school and from the government, replacing him with evolution, where the strong kill the weak, without moral consequences and life has no inherent value."

Rohrbough had become a prominent anti-abortion activist by the time he was chosen to be Keyes' running-mate. Siding with the "absolutist" faction as the anti-choice groups in Colorado experienced a major schism, Rohrbough took part in the Right-wing takedown of Mitt Romney during the 2008 Republican primaries ("The evidence is indisputable — Mitt Romney is lying to get Christian votes," said Rohrbough) as well as being highly critical of the National Right to Life Committee.

The Keyes/Rohrbough ticket was on the ballot in Colorado (0.13%) and Florida (0.03%). In addition Rohrbough was considered the write-in running-mate in Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, and Utah.

Keyes national vote was 47,941 (0.04%). 5,835 (0.00%) of those came from the ticket with Rohrbough. Keyes' other VPs were Wiley Drake in California, Marvin Sprouse Jr. in Texas, and Steve Schulin in Virginia. Keyes' American Independent Party running-mate, only in California, was controversial minister Wiley S. Drake. The minister's name had already been in the news several times. On the humanitarian side, he had provided a place for the homeless on his church parking lots and legal assistance for illegal immigrants. On the homophobic side, he called for a ban on Disney for recognizing Gay partnerships as the same as straight marriages in terms of employee benefits. Drake loudly opposed the appointment of an American ambassador strictly based on sexuality.

In 2007 Drake's name was in a letter of support for James Kopp, convicted sniper, terrorist, and murderer with his targets being abortion doctors. Drake claims he did not authorize the use of his name.

Drake campaigned partly from his pulpit. At first for Gov. Huckabee in the Republican primaries but then for Keyes later in the season. The Americans United for Separation of Church and State advocated for an IRS investigation of Drake. Drake's response was to pray for the death of his enemies.

Keyes national vote was 47,941 (0.04%). 40,673 (0.03%) of those came from California with Drake, where they earned 0.30% of the state vote.

Drake went on to, in a very public way, pray for the death of President Obama and of anyone else who displeased him as he urged God to be his hit man. Keyes, Drake and AIP Elector Markham Robinson filed a petition with the Superior Court in California at Sacramento challenging the right of Obama to assume the office of President based on spurious "birther" claims. The action was filed by Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation, an organization characterized by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an anti-Muslim hate group.

Linda Kay Patterson

Linda Kay Patterson, August 7,  1938 (Indianapolis, Ind.) -

VP candidate for American Party (2008)

Running mate with nominee: Diane Beall Templin (b. 1947)
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Diane Beall Templin was making her third attempt for the Presidency in 2008. After a close three way race for the Constitution Party nomination with Don J. Grundmann (winner) and "Mad Max" Riekse she returned once again a few days later to the American Party and was nominated for President with Linda Patterson of Indianapolis as her running mate.

Patterson, age 70, had been an active American Party candidate for statewide offices in the 1980s, but apparently had not run for office since 1986. She was also a Party officer.

The Christian arch-conservative Templin/Patterson ticket failed to gain ballot access in any state, nor were they registered anywhere as write-ins.

Shortly after Sept. 11, 2008 the American Party website simply vanished. Any significant national presence by the Party itself evaporated as well. When a new website resurfaced in late 2015, the organization was called the American Party of the United States of America. The new revived website also appears to have become extinct sometime after the 2016 election. It might be a safe guess to conclude that a number of what was left of American Party members have been co-opted into the Trump Republican Party?

Election history:
1980 - Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction (American Party) - defeated
1982 - Clerk of the Indiana Supreme Court and Court of Appeals (American Party) - defeated
1984 - Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction (American Party) - defeated
1986 - Indiana Secretary of State (American Party) - defeated

Other occupations: farm housewife, business manager for excavating and landscaping, Chairperson of the American Party of Indiana Central Committee

Notes:
Baptist.
Winner of the 1986 race was Evan Bayh. During the 1986 election Patterson was in jail for contempt of court for initially failing to cooperate in a foreclosure case as her husband remained at large.

Max James Riekse

Max James Riekse, April 14, 1947 (Muskegon, Mich.)  -

VP candidate for New American Independent Party (2008)

Running mate with nominee: Frank Edward McEnulty (b. 1956)
Popular vote: 0 (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

Frank McEnulty, a California estate agent filed with the FEC for President in Feb. 2007 as an independent but that did not prevent him from entering the Republican primaries, at least in Arizona. On Mar. 11, 2008 he gained the nomination of the newborn New American Independent Party. Shortly after his nomination, he was in Alaska seeking the endorsement of the Alaska Independence Party alongside members of the American Independence Party and was identified by Alaskan media as a member of the AIP. It does get confusing, doesn't it? He was also a contender for the Reform Party nomination but lost out to Ted Weill, so he became the running-mate July 2008.

It was erroneously reported on some outlets that McEnulty announced he was going to drop his own Presidential campaign in order to campaign full time as the Reform Party VP. McEnulty was definitely running under both banners. It is not unheard of for a candidate to be running for President on one ticket and be the VP on another in the same election. William Jenner in 1956 is one example that springs to mind, and Dick Gregory in 1968 although McEnulty's case was more deliberate.

McEnulty's statement on the matter:

At the Reform Party Convention, held recently in Dallas, TX, I was selected to be their Vice Presidential Candidate to run on the ticket with Ted Weill, the Presidential candidate. I am honored to accept this nomination and see this as an important step in uniting the various third party groups around the country into a stronger, more effective voice.

To that end, I am continuing my independent run for president in the other states in which the Reform Party does not have ballot access. I firmly believe the answer for a better America is in a strong, viable third party that will address the views and needs of the Moderate Majority Americans being ignored by the Democrats and Republicans.

I want to reiterate that I am still the New American Independent Party Presidential candidate for the 2008 election and have discussed this strategy at length with Michael Thompson the Chairman of the NAIP. We are continuing our ballot access efforts and hope that this latest development will help our message to be heard in more states. Thank you for your continued support.

The NAIP was formed in 2004 with an eye to the middle class as a political base. Although the Party attempted to hold the center, it generally came off appearing to be sort of a Libertarian-lite, preaching the gospel of a small federal government, more local control, fiscal conservatism, personal responsibility, less government intrusion into personal lives, and an end to political party tribalism. McEnulty himself was a great admirer of Reagan and a NRA supporter.

In Feb. 2008 McEnulty told an interviewer about his parameters for a VP selection--

I will be looking for someone who is smart, wants what is best for all Americans, is a moderate, a fiscal conservative and will put forth the time and effort to run in a real campaign. I also believe that my running mate needs to be a business person because the government is a business and needs to run more like one. I’m not worried about being outsiders in the Washington scene, because I believe that gridlock is good for the following reason. If there is gridlock, then only legislation that makes sense for all Americans and benefits the vast majority of all Americans will get passed. We’ve got hundreds of thousands of laws. We don’t need new ones every day.

For reasons that are not clear, McEnulty had 9 different running-mates. He made the ballot only in Colorado, and attempted to be a registered write-in in the remainder.

One such running-mate was Max Riekse aka "Mad Max" Riekse of Michigan, a perennial candidate who ran for a variety of public offices under a multitude of party labels since 1972.

In 2008 Riekse was campaigning for the 2008 AND 2012 Presidential elections at the same time. And as long as he was covering his bets, Rieske's campaign brochure stated: MAD MAX RIEKSE for PRESIDENT, MM - 2008 & 2012 CONSTITUTION PARTY/AIP/USTPP/American Party, etc.

He had tried for the Presidential nomination of the American Independent Party and the Constitution Party. Riekse also made an unsuccessful attempt for the NAIP Presidential nomination and subsequently become one of McEnulty's running-mates. Yet Riekse's webpage still had him running for President as an independent so it is possible he never withdrew from the race as a Presidential candidate.

"I have over 32 years in the military so I understand how the federal bureaucracy works, and I've been a student of international issues for more than 40 years," Riekse said when explaining his credentials.

A statement he made for the American Independent Party primary in California in Feb. 2008 presented his resume and platform in a nutshell--

Mad Max Riekse: www.madmaxforpresident.com; Retired US Army, LTC; Vietnam War & Iraq War Veteran; Retired Public School Teacher; B.A. University of South Florida: Political Science & International Relations; two M.A.’s/WMU: Political Science, International Relations, Education, US & World History. Educate America. A return to a Republic & Constitutional government as envisioned by our Founding Fathers will bring peace & prosperity to all American citizens & the world at large.  We were founded as a Republic blessed by God with a Constitution & Bill of Rights. Stop the Wars in Iraq & Afghanistan; No War with Iran.  Focus on Peace in the Middle East & throughout the world.  Send all illegal immigrants home now.  They are here illegally.  No amnesty, birthright citizenship – anchor babies, social security, free education, health care, welfare, & unemployment to illegal’s & non-US citizens. Lower taxes, less government; cut the Federal gas & diesel tax 70%; No to Free Trade: NAFTA; no Mexican truckers in the USA.  Eliminate Federal taxes on all Military & Federal pensions & Social Security recipients; eliminate the IRS & Federal Income Tax; cut Chinese imports that destroy American jobs with decent benefits, health care & pensions; Save Social Security; along with US manufacturing & trucking job’s; support American farmers; & reduce dependence on foreign oil by promoting alternative energy sources from wind, water & sun for a cleaner & healthier America. A return to a constitutional government will bring peace and prosperity to all American citizens. God Bless America. www.madmaxforpresident.com

The McEnulty/Riekse ticket apparently never made the ballot or were registered as write-ins in any state. They were considered the official team for Alaska, California, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.

The New American Independent Party changed their name to the Citizens Party of the United States by the 2012 election.

Although there is a brief secondary source reference about Don Cordell of Lancaster, Calif. running for President in 2004, it seems 2008 was the true political breakout year for this 81-year old.

Cordell's campaign webpage, done up in red, black, and blue font against a white background for that patriotic flavor, was a long, crowded document with dozens of spur roads into his allied links. Here is his introduction--

I’m a very Conservative Candidate, brought on by being older. Why? Well as you get older you realize that some of your youthful enthusiasm for change left a lot to be desired, some ideas that on the surface seemed good, but as time went on, maybe not so good, sure you meant well. As you get older you know what works best for a nation to survive.

We must do something to survive.

We are at that point now; the youth (all of you under 65) must let experience lead the way, or you will lose this nation. This is no time to experiment, our nation is failing fast, I only hope we can recover before most of the citizens are unemployed, as happened in the 1930’s. Once we have lost our sovereignty, we will never recover our Freedoms.

Remember in the 60’s, when hippies thought they had found the way with communal living, free love, and drugs; but experiences led those young people to finally realize, that commitment, one partner, family, home, and jobs; was the real American life style that led to satisfaction.

Here we are now, it is time to go back to those standards that give us a secure home, family, job, and commitment; are you ready to commit for a secure future, to restore those values that have led this nation to be the greatest place to live? I’m sorry our youth of that era felt they had no future. Now again, we are faced with “Do we have a future?”

Do you want a Chance, or “Change you can believe in”? We’ve had enough Change; let’s return to what we know works, Jobs, Homes, and Family.

His webpage was also filled with beliefs of conspiracy theories such as the JFK assassination, Reagan attempted assassination, New World Order, Homeland Security, North American Union, One Worldism, 9/11, etc. "We know that the, New World Order; the Globalization; the United Nations; the Global Warming threat; NAFTA; CAFTA; WTO; Security and Prosperity Partnership Act; The Patriot Act; the Homeland Security Act; The Terrorist Act; the War Commissions Act of 2006, Act, Act, Act, that all these treaties will dilute the chance for this nation to survive, as they are pushing to destroy the sovereignty of our nation."

This was sort of topped with a section entitled "What If?"

A possible scenario has been suggested, that before Nov 08 elections A small atomic bomb goes off in America, terrorists (actually someone in our government) claim that if Washington doesn’t surrender; that more bombs that are already placed in American cities will be detonated, with bombs already smuggled in to our nation, then President Bush can enact his “Terrorist Act”, and stop the election, since we are at war. Interesting HUH?

Now I don’t know that this would happen, but “What If”? What would you do?

2008 Election cancelled? Read all the possible scenarios that could happen.

In some cases he cited Alex Jones' Infowars as a factual source. As an interesting aside, several close Cordell relatives died in the Jonestown mass suicide/murder.

Cordell's webpage offered a thumbnail version of his platform--

 “Critical issues for America”

I will: Stop getting involved in wars we don’t intend to win
I will: Return Jobs to America
I will: Stop a lot of importing, “Made in America” a must (except some OIL)
I will: Remove all illegal aliens.
I will: Control our borders
I will: Stop Drugs coming in to America, Stop the CIA importing drugs.
I will: Stop the NAFTA Super Highway, to deliver more Chinese imports to Kansas City, MO
I will: Stop all foreign Aid: to enemies of America
I will: Protect Social Security, 25% raise for Social Security recipients immediately. Even if I have to cut the pay of Congress, and the Senate to afford this
I will: Reduce Taxes for stupid Pork projects. See my plan for income taxes as follows.
I will: Stop all Terrorists
I will: Stop the “Dumbing Down” of America: Children to get a real education.
I will: Support our schools nationwide. No more than 20 children in any classroom
I’m Sorry, but we/you “can’t” afford free Health Care. I’m being honest. Menu #42. You do want an Honest President, don’t you??????? “But” read my plan to help you afford some medical insurance.
I will: Bring home 38,000 of our troops in S. Korea, 55 years to protect Korea is enough.
Last, but not least: I will: Really take care of our Veterans, and their Medical needs. I have a plan.

If you elect Obama or McCain, and you are unhappy next year, I will still be here to be elected after you recall either of them, because you will be disappointed with their non-performance.

His main method of campaigning appeared to be leaving comments in online venues or writing letters to newspaper editors. Here are some examples--

American rights
January 22, 2008, 07:19pm

I'm probably the only candidate for President in 2008, that wants to control the police. 4th Amendment rights "to be secure" will be enforced. If you are stopped for any driving offense, that's all that stop is legal for, and any follow up, will be illegal. Period.

Your right to not be forced to incriminate yourself, the right to remain silent when cops ask you "What are you doing here?" Where have you been?, where are you going? all illegal under the Constitution, and Bill of Rights. Want to retain your rights? I love video's of police action, that's our defense. But do not hit the police, that will defeat your case, just submit, and then win in court. I'll help you.

Don Cordell will protect those rights. While we need to be protected from crime in our nation, we also need police to follow the law.

I do not believe anyone should be arrested for using any drug, only crimes committed to get drugs or crimes committed because you are impared that affected the safety of society. Or, lets arrest, and send to prison anyone using the drug ALCOHOL, including any elected offical found under any influence of ALCOHOL. I think too many of our politicians are impared to begin with.

Lets have some common sense in this nation.
If it's OK for Drug Smugglers to bring drugs in to our nation, and for our own government to import these so called illegal drugs, then why should any citizen be in prison for this offense.

We are being screwed by Congress and the Senate, while they party, and you suffer. Do you think your government is being honest?

I know our elected politicians believe they are above reproach, I want them to answer to us, to start running this nation for American Citizens, not China, not Mexico, no one, but for American Citizens.

There is hope if you stop electing Republicans and Democrats. Otherwise our nation will be turned into the North American Union, and then handed over to the New World Order, United Nations. It's up to you America, are you ready to save this nation?

Here he is in Politico:

Treason in the House.gov on both sides. Most of the Congress and the Senate have very little idea what is going on. The American public is fed up, and revoting. Yes I meant re voting, we are beginning to see the treason happening in America from the "action" of the Democrates, and the "inaction" of the Republicans. Why are voters reregistering as Independents? Wake up Washington DC Neither party has the interests of this nation at heart anymore. Both parties live only for the glory of their own name in print. They pass bills to get money to their constituants, thinking that is their fulfillment of their duties that they were elected in office to do. It goes much farther than that. Congress and the Senate's major job is the protection of our nation, our borders, our imports, the total infrastructure of our nations highways, our trucking industry to ship our products to market. Congress and the Senate are total failures. If DON CORDELL is elected as president in 2008, a major change will take place in this nation. DON CORDELL will talk to the public "every week" to discuss what every Congressperson and Senator are doing to/and for our citizens. I'm going to be the best watchdog this nation has ever had. I'm running as President to help our citizens get an honest government, and to stop these billions spent every year on Pork, while really necessary things that need to be done are ignored. On my website I disclose 163 Pork items that have nothing to do with the security and safety of our nation. So when you check out DonCordellforPresident.com you will see the TREASON planned to destroy America by your elected officials living it up in Washington DC. If this isn't important to you, then, "Welcome to the North American Union". Your new government coming in 2009. Posted By: Don Cordell | August 04, 2007 at 07:47 PM

This one was found in the Washington Post:

Bailouts by our elected officials, and you will continue to elect Republicans or Democrats expecting change each time?

How can you ignore that many who lost homes, did so, because they were laid off when their company decided to outsource or move production out of the United States.

There is only one Independant Candidate running for President that will stop this.

You all have until Nov. 4th to make sure what your candidate is going to do, to return jobs to America. Stop giving your money to those who don't care if you are solvent or not as long as they live the good life.

It is sickening to see at least 1.6 million Americans homeless, living on the street because they lost everything when their company left America. Do you want more of this for our nation?

Do you want "Change you can believe in?" or do you have the Courage to elect someone who will Restore America to the Pride we use to have, to offer everyone a chance to succeed?

On Nov 4th don't make a mistake, unless you want to see more of this treason happening.

You keep electing one party or the other, and you are expecting "Change"? I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, Cash only. That makes just as much sense.

Study what candidates are really offering to you. Don't buy a Pig in a Poke, examine those campaign promises, and elect someone who is telling you the truth that you don't want to believe in. You can't afford Free Medical Care, some one pays for Free.

As for his running-mate, Cordell selected the libertarian Republican icon, Ron Paul--

If you write in “Don Cordell” for President on your ballot, that will show our government, that citizens can still run this nation. (I want Ron Paul for my Vice President, David E. Kendall for Attorney General, real Americans I am proud of)

In 2008 Ron Paul was still a sitting member of the US House of Representatives for his district in Texas. Although he had indeed been a member of the Libertarian Party and was even their Presidential nominee in 1988, he always operated as a card-carrying Republican when holding public office, albeit somewhat as an outlier. Like Cordell himself, Paul subscribes to a number of anti-government conspiracy theories. If Rep. Paul was aware he was the VP choice for Cordell, I found no record of it.

Rep. Paul had been running for President in the Republican primaries in 2008, usually standing out in the debates as being the most vocal candidate to oppose the foreign military adventures that had been initiated by the George W. Bush administration. By June 2008 it was obvious lightning wasn't going to strike and Paul dropped out of the race with not enough delegates to really make an impact.

Some call him conservative, or a libertarian Republican, but I have always thought of Ron Paul as a political party unto himself beyond conventional classification not unlike Ralph Nader. Paul enjoys a base of support that some commentators describe as a personality cult. Many of his followers refused to allow his campaign to die in 2008 and by November he was either a certified write-in or actually on the ballot in a few states. Paul's role in all of this seemed to be mostly passive. 1996 Third party VP Edwin Vieira Jr. (Independent, with Lawrence Topham) was among those in the Draft Paul effort.

In the end, Rep. Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party for President.

It is difficult to ascertain how many votes were earned by the Cordell/Paul ticket since the Presidential candidate was not on any ballots or even a registered write-in in any state. Cordell expressed more than one sour grape on his website shortly after the election--

You have tried Republicans
You have tried Democrats
It was time to try the best!

“YOU HAD ANOTHER CHOICE”

“INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE” Don Cordell As the President, of the United States of America

For a “new and improved” Presidency

The common sense Candidate

But you elected Mr.Obama

I see Americans celebrating that Obama has won the election, I hope your cheers are not in vain; when our nation still continues to self-destruct.

I believe the election of Mr. Obama is the worst mistake American citizens could have ever made. I hope I’m wrong, but his plans may for our future may be more of a disaster than you could ever hope for. But YOU wanted CHANGE, well change is not always good.

I will see if you are still celebrating 6 months from now. I know many think that Obama is going to save our future, so did the Cubans when Castro took command. So did Venezuelans when they elected Chavez, I just hope your cheers don’t turn in to tears.

You think your problems are now over, that America will be saved, that your life will become trouble free.

I only wish that were true; I’m afraid you are in for continued problems and shock.

Americans have made their choice, and you have to live with the choice decided by the voters. The election is over, watch the gas prices next April, and be ready for shock.

When next July comes, and you are still facing foreclosures, job layoffs, rapidly rising prices, rationing of $6/gallon gasoline, and many other failures of our elected representatives in Washington DC. What are you going to do?

I will be here for you when you decide the only solution is to RECALL this President that you just elected. Because: If citizens do not see immediate solutions to unemployment, and the collapse of our finances. When the Changes Obama promised do not happen, that Jobs, and stopping foreclosures do not happen as his first action, Then what? If this does not happen immediately, then Americans must look for another solution, NOW.

America cannot survive another 4 Years of the way our nation is going. I know things are not going to get better, and you know it down deep inside. All you have is hope.

You just believe there is nothing YOU can do to change things, so you elected Mr. Obama.

Well you VOTED, and you’re hoping for the best, you voted for Change, but “no matter whom you voted for”, our elected officials are not going to Change one iota of the plans to continue Globalization as our future. President Elect Obama is still limited of what he can do, by Congress, and the New World Order plans to take over our nation. Your jobs are gone, to globalize the world.

When Cordell ran for President in 2012, his VP choice was Jesse Ventura. In 2016 and 2020 (at age 93!) Cordell apparently did not designate a running-mate. Ron Paul would go on to lose the Republican primaries four years later and subsequently be drafted for an independent Presidential run by some supporters in 2012 just as he was in 2008.

The campaign (2008) (Zilaitis):

Attorney Frank D. Zilaitis of Melbourne, Fla. filed as an Independent for President with the FEC in June, 2007 under the committee name of Frank for the Folks '08.

Zilaitis had a five-point platform entitled Frank's Five for the Folks--

1. Clean House
We must "clean house" in Washington, D.C. We must take back our government from the "Two-Party Pirates" who have collectively failed us miserably. Every member of the United States House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate should be voted home on November 4, 2008. The President and Vice-President are already on their way. I expect to be the 44th President of the United States after running the most intense grass roots campaign in the history of our nation. I expect to serve with a Vice-President who is as motivated as I am to implement the remainder of Frank's Five for the Folks. I expect to serve with 435 new members of the United States House and 33 new members of the Senate who will have promised during their campaigns to support and implement Frank's Five for the Folks. After these independent thinkers take their oaths of office in January 2009, I expect to see serious changes to their rules of procedure. For example, I expect every bill forwarded to me to contain only a single subject, as is required by the Constitution in my home state of Florida. I further expect any bill that comes to my desk to be accompanied by a "Fiscal Impact Statement" so it is absolutely clear what the cost of the bill will be to the Folks. With these new rules in place in the Capitol, we can move on to the substantive issues.

2. Fair Tax
I realize it is pure fantasy to expect Hillary, Barack, Tom, Duncan and any other candidates for president to take time from their campaigns to do their present jobs in Congress and pass H.R. 25 (and its companion S. 1025) described herein. Therefore, I expect the first substantive order of business of a fresh-faced 111th Congress to be the elimination of all income-based taxes. This action will remove the fiscal drag on our economy. Income taxes, including payroll, estate and gift taxes, must be replaced by the Fair Tax, which is a national sales tax. Our present and previous congresses have been holding this consumption-based tax hostage. (H.R. 25 - "The Fair Tax Act" - in the House and S. 1025 in the Senate). I expect the 111th Congress to deliver this bill to me for my signature within ten days after I take office. I will also properly recognize and honor Congressman John Linder and the genuine supporters of H.R. 25 for their attempts to free the Fair Tax bill from captivity during their service in the 110th and previous congresses. I expect the 111th Congress to pass the appropriate constitutional amendment needed to repeal the Sixteenth Amendment and the associated constitutional conventions among the states to take place within nine months of the passage of the Fair Tax Act. Upon ratification of the Fair Tax by the States, every penny of our hard-earned income, from whatever source we receive it, will be ours to consume, save or invest - our way. The federal government will shrink because the IRS will be abolished. We will have more control over government spending by having the choice of what taxable goods and services we ultimately consume. The national sales tax (approximately 23%, inclusive) will be a barometer to gauge our performance in Washington.  I recognize what I perceive to be the only valid criticism of the Fair Tax - one-time double taxation of savings; however, since the savings rate in general has turned negative for the first time in U.S. history, I believe that the cost of implementing the Fair Tax is at an all-time low in this regard.

3. No Deficit / No Debt
Deficit spending and the associated national debt must be eliminated. Fiscal discipline must set the tone for attacking all other issues. I will ask Congress to pass a balanced budget amendment so we can start paying down the debt that, if left unchecked at today's pace, will fiscally bury our children and grandchildren. I expect passage of such an amendment and subsequent ratification by the States to run in parallel with the events related to implementing the Fair Tax.

4. Peace at Home / Peace in the World
A national security plan must be articulated in detail and then properly executed. We must establish peace at home so we are a beacon for peace throughout the world. This means we must first affirmatively identify everyone who is residing here in the United States and motivate them to be legal and productive members of our great nation. The Fair Tax, with its "prebate" component, can bring us a long way to achieving this objective. Our United States military will be deployed at home to bring us the rest of the way. We must then establish an energy plan that eliminates our dependence upon oil. The next logical step would be to minimize dependence upon fossil-based fuels. In this area, I expect to work closely with the 111th Congress and our scientific and engineering communities. Together, we shall establish a National Energy Competition that will result in significant monetary bonuses to those who compete and win "EnerPrizes." These awards will be based upon the achievement of precisely defined goals and objectives that can be measured with certainty. These goals and objectives will include components requiring a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions so our scientists may continue their studies of the global warming issue.

5. Honor Our Fathers and Mothers

The Medicare and Social Security programs must be properly funded to avoid bankruptcy in 2019 and 2041, respectively. We must neither breach these social contracts between generations nor steal from younger generations to deal with the problem. Yes, I mean "steal." If you are my age, you are hopefully aware that, several years ago (during our W-2 wage-earning years), our government raised our retirement age from 65 to 70. This situation has resulted from, among other things, the fact that the ratio of W-2 wage earners to Social Security recipients has dropped from approximately 160 to 1, when the program was first established, to 3 to 1 today! Once again, the Fair Tax is the answer to properly fund Social Security and Medicare. The burden of funding these important programs will be shifted from the relatively smaller number of wage-earning citizens to the relatively larger number of consuming citizens.

After he had been campaigning for about six months, Zilaitis told a TV reporter, "I actually believe -- and I have no choice but to believe -- that I can be the next 44th president of the United States of America." But on Feb. 11, 2008 he dropped out of the Presidential race and switched to running as an Independent for the US House of Representatives.

In his statement to supporters Zilaitis included, "I am pleased to announce that, effective today, February 11, 2008, I have taken the steps necessary to close my campaign for President of the United States. Why am I happy to close my presidential campaign? Two reasons: 1) The week before last, my U.S. Representative announced that he would not seek re-election; and 2) After Super Tuesday, the viability of conducting an independent petition drive for president became impossible; especially since my choice for running mate, Dr. Ron Paul, effectively announced last week that he was not interested in working outside of the Republican Party."

Whether or not Rep. Paul had actually been in communication with Zilaitis prior to this decision is unknown.

The campaign (2012) (Manis):

Montana security specialist and Elvis impersonator Robert Manis told his political story on his campaign webpage--

My name is Robert Manis and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.

My Father Robert Manis was born in Ohio and my mother Betty Riley was born in Oklahoma.  My father went to school grew up, worked very hard, and moved to Kansas city and met my mother.  My mother grew up in McCrory Arkansas, as a little girl it was hard for her to complete school, at an early age my mother worked in the cotton fields to help her family, while her mother, my grandmother was passing away with severe stomach cancer.  Later in life my mother moved to Kansas City where she met my Father.  In 1967 in the year of our lord Jesus Christ I was brought forth by baptism by my earthly  mother, in one of the States of the Union known as the Republic Kansas, in one of the hospitals known as the University Medical Center of Kansas.  I attended school in the greater Kansas City area, and then I joined the Navy in 1986,  and got out in - 1994.  Then I moved to Las Vegas, working as an entertainer, I was a Elvis Presley Tribute Artist, during my stay in Las Vegas I also worked in security, at one of the major hotels that employed approx. 2500 people where I was a Security Supervisor, watching over 15 -20 security officers at a time.   March 7,  2007 my wife and I moved to a little town called Joliet in Montana, where we  purchased a little restaurant called The Homestead CafĆ© & Pizza, our Business did  well, however, there where several issues in the town including Hate Crimes so we closed our door (February 2010) for personal safety reason, and reopened our other Restaurant in Red Lodge Montana December 1, 2010 inside the Bull & Bear Saloon where I had a chance to meet some of you first hand where we have had great conversations about the future of our country and the path that we are all headed down.  In 2008- 2009 I private contracted with a D.O.D contracting company as a force protection officer in the Middle East. When I came home in 2009 I was so tired of everything that has and is taking place in our country.  And that’s when I decided to STAND up and fight back and make a difference.  I woke up at 5:30 am, and as I was brushing my teeth I was asking myself all of these Questions and then I said to myself, shut up, and stop complaining and step up to the plate and make a difference.  It was at that moment that I decided to run for the President of the United States of America. I decided that it was time for me to Stand Up and make a Difference.  You see, if you don’t complain that means that you are happy and content with your life and the path you are on.  If you complain and your not happy with your life, and the path that you are on, then when given the opportunity to step up the plate and make a difference, you should take advantage of that opportunity when it presents itself and do something about it.

I am running as an independent citizen and do not belong to any special interest groups.

Thank you for visiting my web site and please feel free to look around and don’t forget to check out our Get Involved page, and our Latest News and Events page.  Don’t forget to pass this web site to all of your friends and family.  Check back with us to see what’s new.
