The campaign:

Sheila "Samm" Tittle, a businesswoman from Fredericksburg, Va. filed with the FEC for President as a Republican in Apr. 2011. When the Republican nomination was slipping her grasp, her continued her campaign as an Independent. Celebrating her outsider status, she told the media, "Politics is the only profession where the more experience one has, the worse he or she becomes."

Tittle's website, which was "Paid for by MADAME PRESIDENT TITTLE," included an autobiography with a bit of family history, prefaced with the following--

Sheila Tittle, commonly known as Samm, has been a successful business woman most of her life, starting back to her earliest age of recollection, where she worked for her affluent Spanish grandparents in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However Samm personally grew up in an underprivileged home in El Paso, Texas. Her mother was of an aristocrat “Blue blood” Spanish family, Don and Dona Gaspar Garcia, whose family were asked by the United States Government to come to the United States to begin, build, and nurture a Spanish influence of growth. This is the backdrop of her respect for all people of Latin culture as well as all people and their cultures and traditions.  Her maternal family were of and grew amongst the Apache and Navajo Indian tribes.  The fact that Samm was not so privileged, knowing what it is and what it was like to "be without" re-enforces her understanding of many people's plight in becoming part of, “We the People“, of the United States.  

Tittle's platform included: anti-abortion -- cut foreign aid by at least 75% -- end big business bailouts -- no amnesty for illegal aliens -- increase border security -- abolish the Federal Reserve -- oppose Affirmative Action -- abolish the US Dept. of Education -- preserve the Electoral College -- pro 2nd Amendment -- repeal Obamacare -- "Marriage, One Man to One Woman" -- pro states' rights -- pro term limits -- "Sharia law in America is impossible as we certainly want to maintain our Laws of Governing, without confusion of meshing several 'other' laws within American justice" -- drastically scale back welfare -- bring the troops home -- make English the official US language.
 

Tittle wrote, "America can be great again when we return to the principles of the founding fathers, their beliefs in God, constitutional government and traditional morality. God did shed his grace on America; however, unscrupulous politicians, bureaucrats, lawyers, abortionists, bankers, predatory lenders, financial high rollers, secular humanists and greedy political bottom-feeders have nearly destroyed the land of the free and home of the brave."

She also wrote, "The argument of 'Racism' in America is finished. With the 2008 election of Barack Hussein Obama for President of the United States, 43% of American voters basically said 'it is finished'. The equality for all men has finally made it's way and found its foundation in the United States. Those that continue to use 'Racism' or any 'ism' are detractors from what is ahead for America. The poor are poor because they choose to be poor, and the rich are rich because they choose to be rich. The so called 'middle class' choose which side of the table they wish to sit on; knowing clearly that 'when you work, you eat'. 'We the People' create our own Land of Plenty.  We all just have to work."

God's name was invoked several times in the campaign, e.g., "Know this for sure, that Our Heavenly Father chooses he who He would choose. To support Mitt Romney you know the people would simply be settling on the rope or the guillotine for their fate, should they choose one from the other politician. We now know that God has revealed the evil and deceitful heart of this President. Our Father has heard our prayers to hold on to our Freedom Jesus died to give us. Now it is up to Us to accept His help. I Samm Tittle will go 'One of us for all of us.'   Know this finally that I, Samm am not doing this for money or celebrity, but to be God's servant first, and then our brother's servant; for them and for the love of God."

Tittle's running-mate was Matt Turner of McCalla, Ala. He did not appear to have a large role in the campaign except for posting a few Right-wing memes on Facebook. Tittle never highlighted him as part of the ticket in her political marketing material.

The Tittle/Turner ticket (that sort of sounds like a 1960s Mod Rock group, eh?) made the ballot in Colorado (0.03%) and Louisiana (0.09%) under the We the People banner. We the People has been used as a party designation several times in the past by others, including in the 2008 election with Jeffrey J. Wamboldt/David James Klimisch on the Presidential ballot in Wisconsin. Tittle/Turner were also write-ins in 10 other states.

Tittle ran for President in 2016 and 2020, but with different running-mates. Her 2016 campaign began immediately after the 2012 election as she led her followers in prayer via Youtube and filed with the FEC on Nov. 11, 2012. She also expressed Birther sentiments on Nov. 26, 2012 when commenting on the election results: "Samm Tittle WAS CHEATED OUT OF HER CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS with a fraudulent presidential candidate in 2008 and now 2012 with no Birth Certificate and we all know he was born in Coast Province Hospital in Mombassa Kenya. Thereby cheating Samm Tittle out of her right to be the NATURAL BORN CITIZEN of the United States of America's President. You know people. You know Lawyers. The Electorate keeps yelling that it is IMPERATIVE that this man be stopped before he absolutely destroys the United States of America."

The campaign:

Erin Kent Magee of Lehigh, Fla. filed with the FEC as a Republican on Apr. 5, 2011. Magee was a self-described Christian conservative Republican.

Meanwhile, William Thomas Harney (aka William St. Thomas Harney aka William S. Harney II aka Thunderball aka Running Horse) of Ocala, Fla. filed with the FEC with no party affiliation on May 3, 2011. Harney's Presidential campaign was cut short in Florida at the start of 2012 during the Presidential preference Republican primary, which he apparently entered. That episode was included in an eponymous blogger site from May, 2013. It is unclear if this biographical or autobiographical--

William Thomas Harney, an unsung hero of the Viet Nam War, was born in Garwood, New Jersey on September 7th, 1945. Credited with saving the lives of more than 800 Prisoners of War, Bill was offered the Purple Heart on 6 separate occasions. He accepted only 2 of the 6 that were offered to him.

The son of Dean Harney, a Merchant Marine, and Dorothy June Froat, a Native American, he is the Great Grandson of Brigadier General William S Harney, who served during the Civil War.

Through his mother, Dorothy June, who was also known as Little Fawn, Bill was exposed to the world of entertainment. She was the first actress to portray Princess Summerfall Winterspring on the original Howdy Doody puppet show that aired in the 1950s. Her mother, Alma Nimi Froat, became fast friends with movie legends such as Mae West, James Cagney, Charlton Heston, George Burns and Carey Grant. As a child, Bill knew them all. Bill often met these stars at Green’s Five and Ten on Broad Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey, their favorite meeting place.

Bill received his first guitar, an acoustic electric, from Tennessee Ernie Ford, who was a friend of Frank Far Oats, his maternal Grandfather.

Frank Far Oats, which later became Frank Froat, was employed by the Rahway Valley Railroad in Kenilworth, New Jersey; a career he pursued for 64 years. A dedicated Engineer, Frank was known for his record of perfect attendance. The Rahway Valley Railroad, considered the richest and “most liberal” of the privately owned railroads, holds a special place in Bill’s childhood memories. He remembers seeing the smoke from his grandfather’s locomotive as it emerged from the mountains, and hearing the tunes his grandfather played on the train’s whistle.

Bill’s paternal Grandfather, who was also named William Harney, was a Superior Court Judge at the Union County Courthouse in Elizabeth, New Jersey. A strict disciplinarian, he schooled Bill and the other children on nuances of the U.S. Constitution. It was as a result of his influence, that Bill earned advanced degrees in Forensic Ecology, the Constitution and Criminal Law, from the Newark State College, which was later named Kane College, after Governor Kane.

After leaving the service, Bill went on to pursue a career with the NYPD. He became an instructor at the John J Police Academy and retired as a Police Inspector after 34 years of distinguished service.

In the Spring of 2011, Bill became an Independent candidate for President of the United States. Having obtained more than 112,000 signatures, his name appeared on the Ballot for the Presidential Preference Primary Election that was held in Florida on January 31st, 2012. He received more than 400,000 votes in that election, which were mysteriously “lost”.

When his name was removed from the list of “Qualified” candidates, he re-entered the race April 4th, 2012, as the Vice Presidential Running Mate of Erin Kent Magee, the 1st Republican Presidential Candidate from the State of Florida(2012).

While fact checking this essay, I could not confirm the lineage from Gen. Harney, nor could I find his mother's Native American connection, although I did discover a significant percentage of German descent. I'm not saying it isn't true or acting as a judge, I'm just unable to verify any information that I was hoping would lead me to some interesting backstories in history. Harney's Ph.D. in forensic science/constitutional & criminal law comes from Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. In another account of that Florida primary, Harney does not say he actually had "more than 400,000 votes" in the election itself, instead he clarified that he had over 400,000 petition signatures for ballot access "which were lost, without explanation." He also said about that primary--

In Florida’s first Primary, Tea Party activists bribed officials, convincing them to remove the names of all Republican challengers from the Florida ballot. Adding insult to injury, they arranged to have the names of those who’d already withdrawn from the race -- Herman Cain and Michele Bachman – remain on the ballot! In all 50 states, the primary qualification for a Presidential candidate -- assuming the citizenship and age requirements are met -- is willingness to serve, if elected. The above-mentioned candidates had withdrawn from the race before the Primary took place, giving public notice of the fact that they were unwilling to serve. In this respect it was, in fact, a fraudulent Primary.

Harney spelled out his dislike of the Tea Party in the same July 25, 2012 piece--

Through their corporate lobbies, the Tea Party is conspiring to dismantle our government. They want to do away with the IRS and, thus, do away with their obligation to restore the funds they "borrowed" from our Social Security fund.

Magee used Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube to communicate with potential voters. He had made a try for the ill-fated Americans Elect nomination. In his Youtubes he expressed disdain for "counterfeit Republicans" and like Harney considered the Tea Party the tool of corporate interests. Although a definite conservative, his platform did not totally fit the Republican Party line--

On their ballot access petition drive, Magee wrote--

The United States will remain a free country only insofar as we support the right of its citizens to hold the land in perpetuity. This petition is circulated for the purpose of electing Erin Kent Magee, as the 1st President from the State of Florida, and Running Horse (William Thomas Harney), as our 1st Vice President of Native American ancestry. These candidates are pledged to protect the right of all Americans to own the land and pass it on to their descendants without interference by any government entity.

Apparently Magee was unaware of the ethnicity of Herbert Hoover's VP, Charles Curtis.

The Magee/Harney team were registered write-ins in Alaska, Florida (2 votes), Georgia (1 vote), Idaho, Kentucky, Montana, Utah, Washington, West Virginia (1 vote). Their total could have been higher since not all states report write-in results. Since they were both residents of the same state, there would have been a Constitutional problem in the event of their victory.

In 2014 Magee filed for US Congress in Florida, and also in Indiana-- a state he had never been to. He also was running for the US Senate in Tennessee that same year. All of this resulted in some unflattering press coverage.

The campaign:

Barb Prokopich of (Washington State trivia alert!!!) Elk, Wash. in Spokane County ran for US President in 2012 as a registered write-in in nine states apparently feeling that the Republican Party was not conservative enough. On Nov. 1, 2012 the Spokesman-Review reported she "doesn't agree with Romney's policies although she would've picked Paul Ryan as a running mate." Ryan was already called for but as it turns out she had at least three VP choices on record-- Allen R. "Al" Farnham, Rick Santorum, and Scott Brown.

Al Farnum appears to be Prokopich's son, who lived in nearby Chattaroy, Wash. In 1992 the Looking Back Party ran Isabell Masters with Walter Ray Master, which I believe is the first mother-son ticket. 1996 saw Daniel Steven Burkhardt, an Independent, with his mother Georgia Loyce Burkhardt as the VP, the first son-mother ticket that I can ascertain. The family relationship between Prokopich and Farnham would not be an issue with the Constitution, but the fact they were residents of the same state would certainly have been an issue.

Prokopich told a reporter, "I can do a whole lot better. We don't have to have the same kind of game rules, we don't have to be run by the government and we can be run together, as a family and a team. An American team," and added, "If a poor person can learn to spend with less, then why can't the top of the brass do the same?"

Exactly how and why former US Sen. Rick Santorum came to be Prokopich's write-in running mate only in the State of Minnesota is sort of a mystery to me. Oddly, Al Farnham, her VP in some other states, served as an Elector but not as the running-mate in Minnesota. One wonders if Santorum was aware he was honored with this nomination. In 2012 the self-described Christian Conservative Culture Warrior Santorum was busy attempting to secure the Republican nomination for President but ended as the runner-up to Mitt Romney.

One of the problems with researching a political campaign that took place in Century 21 is if the candidate used social media like Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook, and then deleted most everything after the election as Prokopich appears to have done, that information vanishes forever. Future historians are going to find it quite maddening when they try to make sense of our era.

Prokopich received 41 recorded write-in votes total. Vice Presidents were not reported in Idaho, Illinois (4 votes), Maryland (2 votes), Washington, and West Virginia. We know she intended Brown to be her running mate in Maryland but cannot guess who would be in the others. Farnham was the VP in Alaska, Kentucky, and Montana, with zero votes reported for all three. Santorum was the VP in Minnesota with 35 votes, her best result in any state.

Prokopich has lived in Washington for the last 20 years. The former Marine is the mother of two boys. She chose Scott Brown as her running mate, because "he's an excellent human being," although she has not been able to reach Brown personally yet and has had to extend the honor through his aides.

I have not found Brown's response, if there was any. He was busy in 2012 running for reelection in a campaign he would ultimately lose.

The campaign:

A perennial candidate since the 1980s, Michael S. Levinson's campaigns usually used the Republican primaries as a vehicle for expressing the candidate's views on issues of the day. Once the primaries were over, he was generally done for the election season. But it appears that starting with the 2008 election Levinson was moving to the Independent route, although Levinson would also call himself an Independent Republican at times.

In late October, 1972 Mary Levinson of Buffalo, NY announced she was running for President as an independent write-in. Actually she was serving as a stand-in for her son, Michael, who at age 30 was too young to be elected President. Michael had, according to the press, "definite views on ending the Vietnam war and cutting rents everywhere." The campaign's motto was "You stand on your own two feet." Mary Levinson selected James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, to be her running mate.

Michael did campaign on his own at a later date and through time became known as a perennial candidate. His decision to wear odd headgear during debates and panel discussions did draw some attention, but viewers were distracted by his form which overshadowed the content. Levinson's campaign literature was delivered in his interpretation of the English language, using wordplay and puns which, like the hats, made the voter have to work in order to discover his platform.

Mary Levinson died in 1995 but she contributed to her son's campaign webpage as if she was still alive as evidenced by Michael's 2008 online marketing--

Just read the essay I am linking here about the TWA 800 crash. He wrote the TWA part about a week after the plane blew up. When you read this piece you will see that his mind is above all of ours - that his revelationary sense of the universe, and the inspired words he has to express our collective place in G-d's scheme of things, is beyond any ordinary sense of common imagination. As mentioned above, like his mother, Levinson chose a celebrity as his running-mate. Most major party candidates traditionally do not name a running-mate before the convention. Possibly they do not want to appear presumptuous or they would like to create some sense of suspense to gain attention at the conventions, which are normally mind-numbingly long political advertisements. But Levinson, running as a Republican in several elections, not only named Muhammad Ali as his Vice-Presidential choice, he produced a poster heralding the ticket in 1988.

In Levinson's 1996, 2000 and 2004 runs Ali remained his first choice for the second spot. He did have backup choices, as he explained during the 2000 election, "I like Liddy Dole. With her no nonsense style, she could easily fit in my cabinet, to take down an agency or two; and Bob for sure in my kitchen cabinet. Bob Dole was my 2nd choice for V.P., in '96, after Muhammed Ali. This time, after Ali, my 2nd choice is Jesse Ventura for Vice President."

In 2008 he hung on to the idea of having Ali as his VP but this time Levinson was going all the way to the general election.

Having grown up in the era when Ali was at his peak not only as a boxer but also as a symbol of personal/human rights protest it is difficult for me to visualize The Greatest accepting second place in anything. A champion for so many on so many different levels, Ali the private citizen was more influential than most public officials.

Ali's politics could be a bit unpredictable, much like the man himself. He campaigned for Jimmy Carter in 1980. In 1984 he supported Jesse Jackson in the primaries but endorsed Reagan's re-election later in the year because, "He's keeping God in schools and that's enough."

Ali had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease the same year he endorsed Jackson, and then Reagan. In subsequent years he had been engaged in philanthropic pursuits and international goodwill missions. In 1990 he met with Saddam Hussein and negotiated the release of American hostages much to the consternation of the George H.W. Bush administration. By the 2008 election Ali's health had declined dramatically but he was still an active and beloved public figure. Needless to say, I could not find a public response from Ali about being Levinson's running-mate.

Levinson had managed to become a certified write-in in Washington and perhaps a few other states, but did not seem to obtain a measurable number of votes on Election Day 2008.

I will put an end to tobacco smoking and chewing by Executive Order in America because they claim the lives of approximately 500,000 Americans every year, about 450,000 lives from primary users, and about 50,000 lives from secondhand smokers, and this is not even mentioning the illnesses short of death and lost productivity that our nation's people suffer as a result of the murderous greed of the tobacco lords ... The penalty for growth, possession, sale or use of tobacco upon conviction will be life in prison with no parole, and this no-nonsense attitude towards drug offenses will apply also to all of the other illegal drugs, mandating life in prison with no parole for all illegal drug offenses. The top executives of the tobacco companies will be arrested and executed without trials or lawyers, again using the converse of the Golden Rule as the justification for their capital punishment. They did not have mercy on their victims, so neither will mercy be shown to them.

3.) I will outlaw queer marriage by Executive Order because a Christian country cannot and should not tolerate what My Holy Word, the Bible, calls an "abomination," and which was the true Original Sin and again, what Mary K. Baxter, in her book, "A Divine Revelation Of Hell," clearly shows to be a ticket to the grossly torturous and worst punishments in Hell, including confinement while chained to other queers and lesbians in a river of fire, and incarceration in prison cells inside of Hell's black heart where Satan has his throne ...  I will also outlaw by Executive Order with zero-tolerance all homosexual and lesbian acts, and all homosexual and lesbian offenders will be given the capital punishment the Bible demands. Again, Jesus did not terminate the Biblical capital punishment for queer acts, ergo, it is still in force.

9.) I will sign an Executive Order mandating the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag at the beginning of every school day in the public schools: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC [We live in a republic, not a democracy which the Democrats need to know.] for which it stands, one nation UNDER GOD [America is officially a THEOCRACY, which is further confirmed by IN GOD WE TRUST on our currency], indivisible, with liberty and justice for all," followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the United Domains Of Heaven Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United Domains Of Heaven, and to the people for which it stands, one creation under God invisible, with love and joy for all." I will also mandate a one-minute period of silent prayer and/or meditation after the Pledges of Allegiance, and then as the first hour of class, a period of Bible reading, study, discussion and reflection on the Bible and the Christianity of our Founding Fathers as depicted in their own historical writings led by teachers drawn from the local community's churches and synagogues. Only Judaism and Christianity will be allowed to be taught as religions in the public schools. I will order the posting of the Ten Commandments and the Two Greatest Commandments and the Golden Rule on large attractive plaques in all federal, state and local government buildings, including the public schools.

18.) I will use the Oval Office as a true right-wing Christian and proud of it "bully pulpit" and will refuse to be cowed by the traitorous liberals and other Satan-worshiping leftists preaching their false doctrine of "separation of church and state," which cannot be found anywhere in the American Constitution although our right to freedom of religion, speech and press can!

19.) I will have an Open Door Policy at the White House as much as possible under conditions in which the enemies of God and America might want and try to assassinate Me. This means I will be very open to any and all positive suggestions and ideas from the righteous American people as to how we can work together to improve our country and the world. Fools (atheists) need not knock on My door unless you want to inquire of Me how to become a Christian. This is officially a Christian nation, and the Constitution only guarantees "freedom of religion," not freedom from religion. In other words non-Christians or non-Jews are ipso facto enemies of the state.

20.) All judges and lawyers will be required to be proficient and learned in Christian Biblical law and American Constitutional law, and be registered members of churches or synagogues.

22.) I will confiscate the UN building with American troops, send all the socialist ambassadors there home, and turn it into the Headquarters of the United Domains Of Heaven On Earth, thus crippling the conspiracy of the Illuminati, the Bilderbergers, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Federal Reserve and other bankers and financiers, the Trilateral Commission, and the New Agers to subject the whole world to a Satanic to their homosexual pedophile One World Government run through the United Nations and its One World Religion, the blasphemous New Age Movement. I will take a zero-tolerance stance towards murder, ordering that everyone convicted of murder in any degree be executed (Capital punishment for murder is commanded in the Old Testament, and Jesus never changed this command while the converse of the Golden Rule also applies here: It shall be done unto you as you have done unto others). All death sentences shall be carried out directly after a year allowed for one appeal.

29.) Since belief in Islam and the Koran is inconsistent with American freedom of religion because Islam believes in freedom of religion only for Muslims, and since they teach that Christians and Jews are "infidels" or pagans and since Americans have no way of knowing which Muslims are going to be or are terrorists and which are not, and since it is very, very likely that "American" Muslims are supporting terrorism quietly through contributions to Muslim "charities" which are really terrorist fronts, and since Islam teaches the supremacy of Islam and the Muslim, all "American" Muslims will be given one month after I am elected to renounce their belief in their false, oppressive, and dangerous religion, Islam, and its phony "holy book," the Koran in writing.

My list of potential candidates for the Office of Vice President consists of Ann Coulter (see Ann Coulter ), the tough conservative author and Human Events writer), Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (see Marilyn Musgrave) of the Pro-Life Alliance), Secretary of Labor Linda Chavez (see: Linda Chavez), and conservative commentator Michelle Malkin (see Michelle Malkin). I have no delusions that We will lose the next election, and I look forward to honoring the strong females who stand with Me in support of these worthy causes by choosing one of them as My running mate and giving the rest of them positions in My administration.

It seems that he subsequently settled on Ann Coulter according to a couple entries on his blog. Coulter's response has eluded my research--

I still think that Ann is the gutsiest conservative female of whom I have ever heard. A best-selling Right-wing celebrity polemicist, Coulter's most recent book during the 2008 campaign was If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans. A product of the shock-jock industry, Coulter had picked up the conservative pundit-for-profit marketing device of knowing that the more outrageous the comment, the better the publicity. In the same era of the 2008 electioneering, she had been accused of plagiarism by a few critics.

The campaign:

In 2008 Ron Paul was still a sitting member of the US House of Representatives for his district in Texas. Although he had indeed been a member of the Libertarian Party and was even their Presidential nominee in 1988, he always operated as a card-carrying Republican when holding public office, albeit somewhat as an outlier.

Rep. Paul had been running for President in the Republican primaries in 2008, usually standing out in the debates as being the most vocal candidate to oppose the foreign military adventures that had been initiated by the George W. Bush administration. By June 2008 it was obvious lightning wasn't going to strike and Paul dropped out of the race with not enough delegates to really make an impact.

Some call him conservative, or a libertarian Republican, but I have always thought of Ron Paul as a political party unto himself beyond conventional classification not unlike Ralph Nader. Paul enjoys a base of support that some commentators describe as a personality cult. Many of his followers refused to allow his campaign to die in 2008 and by November he was either a certified write-in or actually on the ballot in a couple states. Paul's role in all of this seemed to be mostly passive.

The Draft Paul movement resulted in write-in votes from five states: California (with VP Gail Lightfoot), Illinois, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. In California his name was associated with both the Republican and Libertarian parties, but in the other write-ins he was merely a Republican. He was also on the ballot in two states. In Montana he was listed under the Constitution Party with Michael Peroutka as his VP and in Louisiana under the Louisiana Taxpayers Party with Barry Goldwater Jr. as the running-mate. Paul earned a combined total of 42,426 reported popular votes (0.03%) in 2008.

Perennial Libertarian candidate and former California state chair Gail Lightfoot was able to round up enough disgruntled Party members in 2008 to fill the Elector positions and help register Ron Paul as an official write-in in The Golden State. And in the process she became the running-mate.

"I may get more votes as Ron Paul's running mate than I did as a Libertarian candidate. And a lot of Libertarians are going to be upset with me," she was quoted.

The Paul/Lightfoot ticket finished with 0.13% of the vote in California. In the end, Rep. Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party for President.

Lightfoot made more news after the election than during it when she joined the "birther" conspiracy theorists and became part of the legal case Lightfoot v. Bowen, California lawsuit, Obama not eligible, Dr. Orly Taitz, Petition for Extraordinary Writ for Mandamus for Stay, Gail Lightfoot, Vice Presidential candidate, Ron Paul, co-Plaintiffs, Electors, Constitution Party, December 3, 2008 alleging that "the swearing of Mr. Obama is null and void due to the fact that he was sworn in on a name that is not legally his name and he is a foreign subject from birth and now and never qualified as a Natural Born US Citizen."

In a video of that time period she is shown identifying herself to an apparent "Tea Party Patriot" rally as a "Three Percenter" descendant. This is based on the claim that only three percent of American colonists fought in the Revolution to oppose British autocracy.

The campaign (2000):

On Nov. 29, 1998, reporter Robert Gavin disclosed, "Roger Jewell of Phoenix, Ariz., also was a candidate in 1996. This time he's apparently hoping a well-known running mate will put him over the top. In addition to his own committee, he formed the 'Draft Michael Jackson (King of Pop) for VP 2000 Committee,' according to FEC records."

From what I can gather, Jewell has run for President in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2016. Although he has initially filed as a Republican or Libertarian on occasion it seems he usually settles into an independent status by Election Day.

Not sure what his connection was with the Light Party or the National Disability Party. The 1996 assassination attempt is a story yet to be uncovered.

In a 2014 too-much-personal-information interview, Jewell expressed admiration for Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, coming across as something of a centrist conservative peppered with a few social libertarian policies.

Jewell's choice of Michael Jackson as a running-mate, was, I assume, news to Mr. Jackson if in fact he knew about it. The Jewell-created PAC called Draft Michael Jackson (King of Pop) For VP 2000 Committee could possibly have attracted Jackson's attention. In 2000 Jackson was living in New York City and working on his 10th solo album, Invincible.

I could not locate any states where Jewell was a certified write-in candidate in 2000.

The campaign (2008):

Although Jewell had run for President in 2004 there is not a lot data about that campaign. But in 2008 he once again indicated Jackson would be a fine running-mate as Jewell formed a PAC called Draft Michael Jackson King of Pop For VP 2008 Campaign Committee. Demonstrating a possible inner conflict, Jewell also formed the PAC known as Roger Jewell Draft Michael Jackson King of Pop President Campaign Committee 2008.

For his part, Jackson was preparing for a new concert tour. Back in California, Century 21 had not been kind the King of Pop. He lost his contract with Sony, was taken to court as a result of various child sexual abuse allegations, and he was on the edge of financial ruin. Also his health was rapidly declining. If the Jewell/Jackson ticket had emerged victorious in 2008, the Vice-President would have died only six months after taking office if Fate kept the same timetable.

Jewell did not run for President in 2012, instead acting as the Executive Director of the Draft Sarah Palin for President Committee. But in 2016 he made another run for the White House.

In addition to a long list of celebrities, Jackson is buried in the same cemetery as fellow third party
 VPs Claude Alonzo Watson (1885-1978), Prohibition Party 1936, and Job Harriman (1861-1925),
  Social Democratic Party 1900. Like Jackson, Harriman was also born in Indiana.
