Reillie Alene Murphy

Reillie Alene Murphy, June 1998 -

VP candidate for Justice for Harambe Party (2016)

Running mate with nominee: James Walter Jobe (b. 1996)
Popular vote: ? (0.00%)
Electoral vote: 0/538

The campaign:

James Jobe of Norfolk, Va. and a student at Old Dominion University, filed as a write-in for President with the FEC on Aug. 28, 2016. At the same time Jobe was running as a write-in for the Virginia Beach, Va. City Council. His running-mate was Reillie Murphy, a high school student in Georgia.

Jobe/Murphy were registered as write-ins only in the State of Washington where they ran under the banner of the Justice for Harambe Party. Harambe was a gorilla in a Cincinnati zoo who was shot and killed in May 2016 when a 3 year-old boy fell into his enclosure and a zookeeper felt the child was in danger. Harambe posthumously became a widespread Internet meme including an inevitable "Harambe for President" campaign.

Jobe's political stance could probably be best described as Left/Libertarian. A perennial candidate for a variety of offices since 2016 Jobe has usually identified as an Independent but has at different times embraced the Libertarian and Green parties. Murphy also seems to lean Left.

Both candidates were considerably under the Constitutionally mandated age of 35 in order to serve in the offices they sought.

In March 2020 Jobe officially declared herself transgender and became Charlotte Rose Jobe.
